(UPDATED) Keys for BMW with Cutting Included 🔑 fasterautokeys.com/collections/bmw Please read the description for more information and additional links
Worked like a charm. Called the dealership to have ONE key made and they quoted me $400!! After buying the ak90 with adapter, I was able to program 3 more keys for $40 a pop which included the key cut. Gotta love the free market for coming up with this. If the stealership didn't want to screw me over and was willing to charge a reasonable price, they might have gotten my business.
Very detailed walk through and great video! I ended up buying the cut blank key for my BMW from this seller. Everything went smoothly except for one thing "PIN NO TOUCH" error! I installed the AK90 app on Windows 10 and it works fine, I use the driver located in the app folder directory after install. For those getting the "Pin No Touch" error on their AK90 app, try using a Q-tip and clean the EWS chip (4 edges) lightly with isopropyl alcohol so it's a clean contact. Also, if your AK90 cable clip does not have a red arrow or dot on the outside then look inside the clip for an arrow, mine has a gray arrow. Instead of lining up this arrow with the dot on the EWS chip position, turn it counterclockwise 45 degree left. So the arrow points towards the EWS pin connector direction. That was the biggest problem I had with this whole process, everything else was simple and smooth process! Good luck!
Yep, your additional info was the ticket. Specifically the part about finding the arrow (Mine was raised on the underside and the same colour as the beige plastic). And then the part about turning it left. I think the isopropyl alcohol helped too.
Worked perfect. Bought my own key cutter and programmer and saved probably $300 with have to drive over 3 hrs one way to the nearest BMW dealer. Thank you
Hey thanks for the video. You saved me from getting scammed by the dealership. A common problem is the "no pin touch" with the AK90 EWS connector. I had to apply pressure and rotate the connecter.
Thanks for your video ! I purchased 4 key/remotes, 20 each 11mm emblems, 368a Defu key cutter, and AK90+ programmer. Total cost for everything was $192.33 . That is less then $50 for each key, and I still have the programmer and key cutting machine !!!
Hey! Thank you for your guide. But there is one question I still have: In case of all 10 slots being used up, is it possible to "clear" the used slots or overwrite them?
good job, bro! thanks for sharing your experience. I'm not English speaking by native, but i understood everything - you tell everything smooth and clear. very useful video! thanks again! keep good!
Thanks very much, it worked great for me! When removing the EWS held down by the 2 10mm nuts, one side is slotted so you only have to just loosen that nut a bit. It will help a little reinstalling it.
Compliments on having the best video on using AK90 to program BMW keys. However, the video could be even better if you clarify how to orient the cable that connects to the EWS chip. This is important because damage can occur if cable is in wrong position. Look at the EWS chip and you will see one of the four corners is beveled. Now look at the connector and you will see one corner is beveled. On some AK90 cables, this corner is marked with lettering. Beveled corner on cable goes to beveled corner on chip.
23:19 - " you do it 5 times" did you mean to put the key in and turn the iginition to position three 5 times, and remove the key from ignition and then do bump procedure? OR key in, position 3, hold unlock, and press lock 3 times...
hi one question::: i wanted to change my bmw e46 to a folded key :: i opened the old one and put the old board in the new housing.. and i went to keylock smit and have the blade shaped.. and now it opens and closing ..it is inserting in the car key ring it turns but not crancking unles i get the second circuit board near the car key ring and then it cranks.. what the hell 😪😪😪😪is the circuit board too far or is there another problem.. i want to open the car key ring insert to let the second board near the car key ring.. so that contacts closer or u have better idea..thanks for all info..
Hello, yes I came across that same issue if you're talking about the E90 styled flip key. I also don't like how hard it was to flip the blade into the housing. If you had the diamond shaped key the transponder is soldered on the remote, I've seen some remove it and with extenders have it closer but I wouldn't mess with that. I would suggest a regular styled key shell that snaps in place, there are nice flip keys out there and those will have the transponder as a separate chip.
Programmed 2 new keys slot 5 and 6. All three started the car and remote worked. Then some how the two new ones lost their remote sync. re-synced with car and now only one new one remote works. Luckily all three start the car. Still researching. Thanks for the video
I have one original bmw key which i believe is the earlier version before the diamond shaped key We had challenges programming with Ak90 and could not be successful. The car is just cranking and could not start with the only key I have. Now I want to buy a blank key, like one you used in the video. Is it possible to swap the internals of the programmed key to the original key.. or swap the blade itself to a new diamond shaped key which we then program ? Coz there’s no way I will have the key cut in my area 😢 I am in desperate need of help 🙇🏽
I could be wrong, but in theory if the key isn't programmed to the BMW it will not crank it all. The key will turn in the ignition and no sound is made. The fact that it cranks could mean the issue is outside of the key.
This is the video I've been looking for since one of my original keys to my 2006 X5 stopped locking and unlocking my SUV. To reprogram the key assuming it isn't broken or defective, I basically insert into ignition with the key in question turn it to position II, remove it, hold the top button and press the emblem button three times?
Hi. I have a question, if you can help me out a bit. I have an e83, with ews 4. I bought the 4.3 4.4 ic adapter. The question is, after i write the new key, i need to write back to the ews? I need to check out the new key slot i use, and write back to the ews? Thank you.
Hi there! I’m having some problems to connect the AK90 cable to the electronic card that was in the white box. I have a 2004 BMW 525i with a CAS2 (E6x) system. The chip I have is very slim compared to the one you show in the video and the AK90 connector doesn’t go in for some reason. Also, the system serial number on my chip does not appear in the computer program either. The one I have is 2k79x.
It's still there, click "downloads" and it should be there. I've updated the link to directly go the downloads folder, before it was in the "overview" section.
Hi, so my first attempt , I read the ews picked a spare key slot and wrote a new key. So I tried it in the car and nothing, I tried my original key started fine then I tried the key I did and it worked, I assumed it was all fine but the next day it was not working again. I'm a little confused as some videos of a few AK90 they are writing the ews after doing the key, which is the correct way of doing this.
I don't write back, because it can make an infinite amount of keys this way. Writing back locks in the slot and it cannot take another key. This is how I do it. Likely the reason why the 2nd key started the vehicle is because the BMW thought the 1st key was still inside. I would scan the new key to see what the programmer says.
Hey, yes as noted in the video some are not EWS but CAS. If the BMW uses a CAS system the programmer will not work with it. Another way to check is searching the part number behind the key, if you let me know it I'll check too. The key module will also say EWS or CAS.
Hello very good video. My query is my 2007 BMW e90 doesn't start anymore. I think the battery went flat at some point and someone told me that if in BMW car battery goes down for around 2 hours, it's key loses its code so I have used obd2 diagnostic tool to check and I got the following codes 2A59 VVT-Leading sensor 2A5B VVT-Ref sensor 2B98 plausibility monitoring of the Ram backup 2F44 EWS 3.3 Manipulation Protection Can I use AK90+ device to reprogram my existing key so that my car can be started again Thanks
If I lost a key, can I erase it from the EWS so no one else can start the car? can you make a vid on how to identify which line is the missing key and how to erase or delete it from the list? Thank you in advance
Great video, I have a 2003 z4 so I will be trying it soon, two questions will the software be ok with any operating system? I have windows 10 and does the boot also open? once you do the key in the ignition? to program the remote locking
It will not work with Mac, and it will likely work with Windows 10. If you have an older Windows 7 computer that would be better or a virtual machine. Yes the trunk button works after programming the remote. If your trunk won't open it might be the actuator or a wiring issue.
When you write a key to an empty position in the EWS3, do you then have to write to the EWS3 to update it with the new key info or is that automatically done? Thanks
Check out the listing's description I went over this in more detail, if you don't you can make an infinite amount of keys. If you decide not to write back there will show a fault in the EWS module when you scan with a BMW diagnostic tool but nothing appears on the dash and there are no actual problems doing this
@StarSedz Auto I recently programmed a diamond key to my 1996 E36, I am having issues syncing the key for keyless entry. Ive tried turning the original key (dead fob) to position 3 and the position 1 method as well, yet nothing seems to work. Ive also cycled through the frequencies of the new key as well. I have not cut the new key yet as i was hoping to do that after syncing so i have been turning the ignition with the old key and trying to sync the new key. The car runs the EWS 2 module, is it possible i got the wrong key or is there other syncing procedures i should try. The car is a 1996 BMW 318i and i did receive it with a diamond key.
thanks for your great video tutorial, my AK90 unit was able to read both of my old keys , but not the upgraded after market it indicated "no key".i was able to program the remote functions....what seems to be the issue here .., pls. advise thanks
Open the key and make sure a black transponder is inside. If it's there, try to program it with nothing in the way. Otherwise maybe the transponder is bad.
@@StarSedzAuto Thanks a lot ,you are right ,it needs the little black small rectangular tuck it inside, when i received the new key ,the transponder is separate inside a small plastic pouch, good thing did not throw it out... yap just like what ;s shown on your tutorial, its being read now....Next step is to remove ews when got chance.....thanks once again....good night
"No Pin Touch" errors upon reading EWS can not be resolved. EWS 3 with White Plastic 15 pin attachment board, 0D46J (MCU), Windows 7, 64bit system used. MCU connections are good, contacts clean, but still "No Pin Touch" error. I've read somewhere that this software only works in Windows XP @ 32bit system, but is this correct? K-Line adapter seems to be compatible to Black Plastic pin attachment boards with 10pin connectors? Not sure if there is K-Line adapter available for the White plastic 15 pin attachment board that I have. Require assistance, but no one able to help so far. No solutions found anywhere yet.
Hi, tried following your vid with i think a nock off copy of ak90 as no bleeping noise when programming? At the end the key wont start the car, so as per other vids from other users i tried writing to ews still no good but now my original key wont work and the ews file says error, and when i try to upload original saved file still error at the end, do i need adaptor cable to write to ews or is it now a total loss?
A knock off AK90? If there's a link I'd like to see it, as I haven't heard of this. If the AK90 isn't a knock off, did you write the new key in the same slot as the old key? This could cause that problem. It's hard to help not knowing what was followed like the video, but I would scan both the new and old key to see what it says. If the EWS was removed without disconnecting the battery, perhaps this could have been the issue too. Keep me updated
StarSedz Auto , i didnt disconnect the neg, i followed your vid to the letter and tried it 4 or 5 times exactly, my ews had 5 keys already taken, my original was key number 3, i assigned new key to slot 6, all apeared to go as per your vid but didnt work on car, when vewing the ews after adding new key it never showed the addition of slot 6 now being taken if atall it should? so as i said lots of other vids show writing back to ews after doing key so i tried that and got error at the end and since then original key inop. So i then tried writing original saved file to ews and still error at the end of confirming after the initial upload looked to be ok.
I tried this out but could not the EWS to read (OD46J) MCU. I aways hot a No pin touch error. It was able to read the original key and the after market key. What should I try next?
Hi there please can you tel me why you diddnt write back to ews because some say if you position key for blank slot must write it back to ews but i diddnt see you doing that
If you don't write back, in theory you can make an infinite amount of keys. On top of that, if a key is ordered from a dealership there's a chance it won't work, because a different key was written back.
Hello, you says: "If you write the EWS after making a key in slot 4, slot 4 will not work if you purchase a dealer key. ", so if i read EWS and make a key slot 4 for example, then i write same data on EWS, the key slot 4 will not work? why?
If you write back to the EWS, a BMW dealership key will simply use the next available slot from their records. If the BMW only had 3 keys and an aftermarket key was written on the 4th slot, a dealership will make a key for the 4th slot (not knowing of the aftermarket key of course) which would cause an issue. Do not write back or at least start from the last slot.
Found a replacement key fob for a used f32 on ebay. All the numbers on the inside are same as original except for last number at bottom 9 *** *** 04. Would the difference in the *** digits make a difference to programming it without any problems?
A real F30 key wouldn't work on EWS BMWs. You will need the key blade to start the vehicle, and it will not program the same. I made a video of a key upgrade that looks like an F30 key, but it uses aflip blade and programs like an EWS key.
Will this work for a 2006 BMW 330i? I take EWS and program it with this software? I also have a OBDII to USB cable. Can I reprogram the EWS with OBDII to USB?
I installed the software, hooked up the device to my computer and test the key I bought from eBay and everything works. But it could not get my EWS read, and it says "PIN not touch". I have an OD46J/EWS3 model (I selected OD46J(MCU) to read), and I removed the coating on the EWS before connecting it to the device. I followed every step in your video and tried it multiple times and still the same message. Could you help me with it? The only thing I would doubt is I'm running this program on my Windows 10, would that be the problem? but it works when I test the eBay key and I could also read my old BMW key with all information on it. Thank you!
Windows 10 isn't a problem, it's the connection to the EWS. I had to press hard on mine, and make sure to clean the pins from the oil coating. Also make sure the AK90+ is connected on the right angle.
i totally feel you. exactly same situation, exactly same problem... no solution. 0D46J seems unreadable with the cheap AliExpress AK90.... i tested two AK90 Units and i also tested two EWS3 0D46J units with those. No success at all. one MCU is scraped so much to the bare metal of the pins, not possible, that there is no connection. The other EWS3 i actually soldered directly to the wires of the adapter to the AK90, still "PIN no touch", this is actually impossible and its driving me insane... Possible that i just received trash AK90s from china? Someone has a link to buy an AK90 which is confirmed to work with the EWS3 0D46J? Thank you so much folks
Try changing the orientation of the plug. I've had success numerous times. Once you know the orientation then mark it with a permanent marker. Also the contacts need to be clean so all conformal coating needs to be removed. I've also noticed that sometimes you need to maintain pressure on the cord to the ews mcu to ensure a good read and write.
@@JeffreyRosenthal1 Trust me, i tried EVERYTHING, as mentioned, i even soldered the wires directly to the chip, and yes im certain about the direction (the little arrow inside the adapter has point towards the main connector of the EWS unit)... so i measured the adapter to find out to which pin every cable goes and soldered it directly on the chip - still "PIN No touch"... i'm sure there have to be AK90 units out there (the cheap ones obviously) which just dont read the 0D46J Chip... whenever i read about troubles its concerning this chip..... maybe i have to order an "expensive" AK90... but where (i dont want to pay lke 100 bucks for yet another fake unit)...
Is it a regular diamond shaped key or a flip key? If it's a flip key try pressing the lock button 5 times instead of 3. If that doesn't work let me know
@@StarSedzAuto never mind I got it. It’s the “modern key” mine was the Diamond key. But I wanted to upgrade for a more fancier look 😂. But thank you sooo much what i was doing wrong is not holding it while pressing it 3 times. Thanks a lot!
Aftermarket keys do not use a rechargeable battery at all, I've seen a few but most have the interchangeable CR2025 battery. The key case on these can pop open and snap in place, so it isn't a pain when the battery needs changing
Hi a quick question. Does this only work on Windows opp systems, I only ask as I've just bought one and the software will not work on a Mac. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Richard.
Yes only Windows. I'd recommend running a "virtual machine" of Windows 7 64bit. A virtual machine would be launching Windows as a program which should work.
Hi bud I have a 2005 x3 e83 and I'm in the UK my key has stopped working properly and I'm keen to try this, is it possible you could give me a few pointers with this please? Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Roy
@@StarSedzAuto Sorry just noticed your reply bud, it is original key ( I'm in UK ) I can start the car no problem for now. I now have to lock and open car from drivers door as button function on key fob no longer works 👎
Does the trunk button on the new key work right away as well after you program it? or do you have to hold the unlock button and hit the trunk button 3 times to get it to work?
Once the remote is programmed, I've noticed some aftermarket keys will open the trunk a few seconds after pressing. It's not instant. No do you do not program the trunk button separately
The general range is 1996-2004 for 3/5 series. 1996-2008 for the BMW Z series and 2000-2010 for the X series. The 7 series is 1995-2001. Mini coopers for 2002-2007. Range Rover (non sport) 2002-2006. This is all that i know. That will vary by location, expect $75-200. I wouldn't pay more than $150.
ok, I seem to have found the issue, it is what you refer to as "second software", which can extract from the original download file. see instructions on the below link www.key-programmer.org/2016/06/27/ak90-please-read-ak90-key-first/
Do you know if this will be the same for my 2009 BMW X3 E83? It has a 315mhz HU92 key- but almost all listings for blank key fobs only say up to 2005 E83's??
Yes the X series uses this type of key system up to 2010. If you'd like to double check look at the part number behind the existing key, it should be LX8 FZV.
@@StarSedzAuto thanks that's what I was thinking. It is a LX8 FZV key. So should work and be the same as per your video huh? You made some great vids on this BTW thanks!
Hey i have 2005 Bmw 325i i am planing to do this all stuff. Well just please tell me one thing if i buy the whole assembly Ak90+ programmer and take my EWS from car and i would do programming in aftermarket key . Do it work or i need something else too. Please advise.
You have a 2005, make sure you have EWS instead of CAS. Besides the cut you should be okay unless you have the EWS version 4 box. Then you might have to use some soldering or buy the adapter.
What is the model of the 2010 BMW? This was proven to work up to a 2010 BMW X Series. If you don't have a 2010 BMW X Series than your key is likely different and will require another way to program.
@@StarSedzAuto In some videos we have people writing back to EWS after writing key, so as far as I understand you can do either way, with writing back to EWS or without, and in the last case you can use the same slot endlessly thereafter, as it would always remain not used, is this correct?
@@albertabdullayev3108 I highly recommend you don't write back. If you don't write back, in theory you can make unlimited keys. If you write back and you order a dealership key, it is possible the dealership key will not work. I see no point in writing back.
@@StarSedzAuto Thanks. Got it. Great video. What about PCF7935 transponders? Anything specific to know about them? I see some will sell the so called "ready to use" or "prepared" chips and some "virgin", and there is a kind of ID44? Do we have to use "ready to use" (seems to be used for Opel, VW and etc.later than 2005 cars) or just a PCF7935 transponder is OK? Do you have info on this subject?
@@albertabdullayev3108 PCF7935 and ID44 is the same thing, and I think ID48 is for the other vehicles. I know the older flip key Mercedes keys use a similar chip, you're fine as long as it's 7935 or mentions ID44.
Hey man I’m currently working on my ews3 od46j all slots are full so I purchased the K like adapter but can’t seem to get it to work when I click read ews it just says reading 0d46j(k-line) ... wait
StarSedz Auto the version I have is 3.19 and now my original key doesn’t work pretty frustrating I’m not sure how to go about this I used the regular connector and tried to delete key spot 2 to program a new key I don’t know what to do
It seems like key #2 was the original key. By deleting #2 you deleted the original key so it doesn't work. Your best bet was using an unused key slot for the new key. If you don't have an unused key slot, I would delete another since we already know #2 was the key original key you had.
StarSedz Auto the original key that was working was key number one I deleted 2 by unchecking the used box then writing back to the ews and how do you tell if your k line adaptor is working?
Of course you'll need the key, the programmer and maybe an adapter if you have an EWS4 (to avoid soldering). Links are in the description if interested, thanks
Would you happened to know if I can make a HU58 with diamond shape style would work for my 1995 M3? I search a lot of E36 key on eBay/Amazon, they only offer the HU58 with transponder no chip (HU58 with light button is what my factory key is, yes it does have a chip.)
The diamond key will work but issue is the keyless function. I think you have the separate keyless fob. If so, maybe you can program the remote using the method known to your vehicle (with the trunk open etc) but I wouldn't be sure. Try if that works I'd love to know.
StarSedz Auto, exactly! They buttons would be useless for me since the car doesn’t came with keyless entry from factory. Guess one way to find out is to give a try since that diamond key style seem to be my only option with the chip. I’ll definitely update you when I experiment it. Btw, your video is very informative, because of you, I was able to make an extra key for my Z4 and E46 M3 since both car only came with one key when I bought it. Thanks!
I haven't been able to get my AK90+ to read my EWS for the last several hours. I've cleaned the hell out of the pins and make sure everything is tight and touching, reinstalled software and drivers, tried windows 10 and xp, nothing works. I just keep getting that "pin not touch" error Then I noticed that my EWS actually says "US EWS-3+". Is EWS3+ something different that won't work? I have the same 0D46J chip you do from an e85 2004 Z4 . Everything looks the same except the box. Mine says USA in a couple places. Do I need a different programmer?
Hey man, thanks for the video, BTW, I did all the steps, and it says write key = OK. But when i try to start the engine is still not working, I don't think the DME can read the EWSon the Key. What did i wrong? Should i re-write the DME? Please help me. Thanx..😁 🙏
@@fauzanb9458 No Sorry Man, I didn't solve the problem I just gave up, not try again. Hehehe.. And now the Battery of the new key is DEAD also.. Huft... 😭😭😭 Maybe I should buy a new one. 😁
@@fauzanb9458 Wow, I think you should contact the Admin of this Channel. I'm sorry I can't help you either, because I don't know anything about it. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Hope you solve this problem mate.. 🙏🏽 😇
I bought ak90 from aliexpresse and its read ews with no problem but it wont read the key it keep saying no key do you have any idea why is that i be glade if you help me thnx
Great video very step by step, wasn’t sure if I missed it, you mentioned that there’s 2 software needed to be downloaded loaded 1 to use the software and 1 to read or communicate, is there a link
So It worked. Thank youso much. But for some reason my old battery and the new one wont lock or unlock or open the trunk from the outside. I did the programming, new key turns car on and I did the cycle where it locks and unlocks the doors and it does it but it does not lock them or unlock it from the outside . Any ideas? I wanna say maybe I messed it up because I did not do the cycle with the original key first and then with the new one but i dont know. (The reason i didnt is because The old key bmw locking button doesnt work)
StarSedz Auto it locked and unlocked everything before I did the cycle process. When i got the key i was exited and I went to the car with the new key only and turned into the first position. Then I held the unlock and pressed the lock 3 times. And the locks cycled (I never did it with the original remote because the lock button does not work). and after that Neither key worked to unlock remotely. Im guessing since i did not do it with the original remote (the cycle switch) it did not work. Or maybe since the key was not programmed first .ill try to get a precut case for tje original key and hopefully the lock button works and i can do the cycle with both keys and they start working . Or do you think maybe its because my “original key” is key #3 according to the program. Im sorry for all these questions but thanks alot what matters is the key can turn on the car , Im good with locking and unlocking manually lol😂
@@naniyo98 My theory is if the remote programming was bad, it would not work at all. The remote is either programmed to the car or not, I have not heard of a case where a "bad programming" caused one thing to not work. Maybe this is the case, and if the new key is aftermarket try holding the trunk button.
StarSedz Auto I tried holding the trunk button qnd nothing . I know im probably talking nonsense. Its just weird that my remote that unlocked/locked and opened trunk all of a sudden does not and neither does the other key that was programmed. But like i said they both turn on the car and i can just insert it into the driver door and lock/ unlock the car 😂. So its all good thank you ill try some more things and ill just post it if it works
The real question is, how good is the range on the aftermarket key, specifically the F series style key you're using. I have the diamond key on my E46 and while it works fine, the range is horrible. I have to be about a couple of feet within range and sometimes it seems like there's interference and it doesn't work until I get even closer to the car.
I haven't tested, but I can unlock the car (in the parking lot) from the front door. I would resync the key to your car, if not then it's a dying battery.
StarSedz Auto I got the key like 4-5 years ago from the dealer and the internals crapped out two years later so I sent it to someone that fixes BMW keys and it works perfectly, buttons and all. Now it's just somewhat poor range sometimes.
Even if the battery is removed, it will still start the BMW. If a chip or part of the remote was damaged during the battery removal or key opening, it might fail to start the BMW.
@@StarSedzAuto Thanks for responding, and for taking the time to make a video. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant to ask, will the AK90 be able to read my old key if the battery is not installed?
Is the any way to program the keyless fob to my bmw x5 e53? I've try to program them using your method but it still not works. I brought the same key upgrade as yours. Thanks
Try doing it 3 times, instead of 5 times. Make sure the doors are closed and unlocked. Windows closed too, and there shouldn't be an issue with the lock actuators.
My Idea I’ve try 3 as well as 5 times but still not working. I still have my original 2 buttons key with me but it only works on close distance, I mean really close like almost touching the door. Any idea what may cause the upgrade key not working? Thanks man
Thanks for the tutorial. I've bought a new key and have sent it off to be cut and have the AK90+ programmer. Unfortunately all I have is Windows 10 to run the software which I have heard can be a headache. Any advice or tips from anyone that has done that is welcome.
@@StarSedzAuto I had the new key cut and it fits the car perfectly. I loaded the ak90 software and (after fighting the pin no touch error for awhile) was able to read the EWS chip just fine. When I programmed the key it goes to the end and then gives me a "write error!" and the ak90 does not assign the key to any of the open slots. Surprisingly the key starts the car but cannot be programmed to lock/unlock the doors. The new key is a 315mhz key which I assumed is what I had. Do you know how to tell the frequency of my original remote? I don't think it's printed on the EWS or the key fob anywhere.
@@jeffk9658 I had that issue before, it shows a write error but the key was programmed successfully. This programs the key to start the vehicle, this does not program the remote to lock/unlock the vehicle. That programming can be found at the end of the video and there are others showing this in more detail.
@@StarSedzAuto I saw that and went through the process to lock/unlock the doors but it would not program. My key is different than the one you have though. It's a flip key but instead of having a round lock button in the middle like yours it has the lock and unlock buttons on the top and bottom and the trunk button in the middle. I'm wondering if there is a different sequence or buttons to program the lock/unlock feature. I've contacted the place that sold me the key fob but I don't think they really know themselves. I might have to buy another key like the one you have.
I'm a little confused after watching your video vs the 50's kid video with the middle eastern fellow that he had as a guest expert on doing this same thing He mentioned new slots writing back to EWS after writing new key. So just to clarify... With a new blank Aftermarket Key & using an Empty Unused slot in the software 1-10 Unused Do I not need to write to my EWS? After writing the Key?
I do not write the EWS for a specific reason. If you for example use the unused slot #4 and write, if you or another person purchases a key from BMW it will not work. Because you write in slot #4, the key ordered from BMW is for that slot which makes the BMW key unusable. You can write a used slot to a key you don't have, or simply not write. By not writing, you can have an infinite amount of keys.
So I have 1 of the Original Diamond Keys, I would assume there were 2. I have one of the Non Fob Factory Keys which just has a roundish Plastic Head Like a regular ole car key, & I have one of the Tiny All Plastic Valet Keys which I tried to pry out the chip and cracked it. I Haven't pulled my EWS to read it yet but I would dare a guess that means slots 1-4 are likely USED... I ordered a Ebay AftMkt Diamond Blank w/chip & also a couple separate blank Chips. If Its possible to find out which USED slots don't match the working Key(s) I currently have then I might want to Assign my new AftMkt Diamond key to the sec missing Diamond key slot & Repair the Valet key & Reassign it to its original Used Slot. But if any of that doesn't hold true I'm guessing I should start @ Slot 10 & work my way backwards. Based on what you said its prudent to skip the first few Unused slots just incase you decide to order any new keys thru BMW,,, those next couple slots would need to remain virgin new UnProgrammed for that reason. Back to my org Q? Let me understand what you are saying...If I Re-Program a used slot with a new Aftermarket key you say I don't need to write that back to the EWS???f I Re-Program a New slot with a New Aftermarket key you say I don't need to write that back to the EWS either? Then why would anyone ever write to the EWS for any reason whatsoever? Hunch>> only if your BMW has Profiles for Driver seat Pos. etc based on which Key is Being Used??????
Yep! Busted out the new AK90 tonight, tested the keys for #'slots. Pulled my EWS, Cleaned chip socket'd & saved BIN on the first attempt! Pgm'd DiamondKey & chip for Valet Key. I Now have 4 working keys. Thanks for the info. Was Fun! Albiet I work on Computers. But this was New!
Hi, thanks for great video! However today i removed ews from car, before disabled battery. Did all 100% as in this video, step by step, and there was no errors when writing key. All was successful and identic to this video. But when i set all back, ews, battery it was time for the first start. The new key didn't work, ok no big deal, but then!!! My original key also don't work!! Can't start my car anymore! Made obd diagnostics ews don't recognize any of my keys anymore. Starter status is shown as blocked, and fault code is Ews interface error. Tried everything rewrite that bin file in ews, as you say if something go wrong, it didn't help to. AK90 in test mode with keys still shows all the needed info, odometer, key number etc. Reading ews also ok, tried code bouth keys again, no results... Anybody can help? My car is down😔And no more ideas.

Keys for BMW with Cutting Included 🔑

😃😃
Good luck!
Same
Yep, your additional info was the ticket. Specifically the part about finding the arrow (Mine was raised on the underside and the same colour as the beige plastic). And then the part about turning it left. I think the isopropyl alcohol helped too.
you are the best thank you
45 degree... Sorry just have to❤
Worked perfect. Bought my own key cutter and programmer and saved probably $300 with have to drive over 3 hrs one way to the nearest BMW dealer. Thank you
Which key cutter did you buy?
I just completed this process for a brand new key for my 1999 BMW 540i, and can confirm this works flawlessly. Thank you so much!
bro you're an absolute gangster for this. out of all the videos ive watched this is the one that made the most sense! nice one
London UK 🇬🇧 ❤❤
Hey thanks for the video. You saved me from getting scammed by the dealership. A common problem is the "no pin touch" with the AK90 EWS connector. I had to apply pressure and rotate the connecter.
Thanks for your video ! I purchased 4 key/remotes, 20 each 11mm emblems, 368a Defu key cutter, and AK90+ programmer. Total cost for everything was $192.33 . That is less then $50 for each key, and I still have the programmer and key cutting machine !!!
Sounds awesome, glad to help!
Stephen G link of key cutting tool need to make Range Rover keys and Ford Fusion
Stephen G can the 368a defu cut hu58?
OR
key in, position 3, hold unlock, and press lock 3 times...
If you put the speed at 1.25x he talks at normal speed
Lots of international viewers, I purposely talked in easy to understand English. Thanks though
Oh my fucking God I thought I was the only one noticing this and then I looked at your comment and it made it 10 times funnier
hi one question::: i wanted to change my bmw e46 to a folded key :: i opened the old one and put the old board in the new housing.. and i went to keylock smit and have the blade shaped.. and now it opens and closing ..it is inserting in the car key ring it turns but not crancking unles i get the second circuit board near the car key ring and then it cranks.. what the hell 😪😪😪😪is the circuit board too far or is there another problem.. i want to open the car key ring insert to let the second board near the car key ring.. so that contacts closer or u have better idea..thanks for all info..
Thanks for the video
difference between 0D46J MCU vs K-line...and how would i know?
Thank you for sharing this video. Question: What should be the right key for my 2005 BMW 525i (March) E60
Diamond key
Will the remote programming first work? With the 3 button presses etc. Or does the EWS need the key to be coded first for it to accept the RF signal
Yes the remote can be programmed first
great video. thank you. do you have a similar video to create a second key for my 2011 bmw 328 as i have only one key. thank you in advance
I have one original bmw key which i believe is the earlier version before the diamond shaped key
We had challenges programming with Ak90 and could not be successful.
The car is just cranking and could not start with the only key I have.
Now I want to buy a blank key, like one you used in the video.
Is it possible to swap the internals of the programmed key to the original key.. or swap the blade itself to a new diamond shaped key which we then program ?
Coz there’s no way I will have the key cut in my area 😢
I am in desperate need of help 🙇🏽
I could be wrong, but in theory if the key isn't programmed to the BMW it will not crank it all. The key will turn in the ignition and no sound is made. The fact that it cranks could mean the issue is outside of the key.
Hey man. I was wondering if you have any idea what ews I have or is there a way for me too look it up? I have a 525i e39 from late 2001.
hello i set up software and i readed my current key but its saying cas,cas2,cas3 so i assume cant use this programer for new key? bmw e60 late 04'
can you explain if this method will work with 2011 535i?
This is the video I've been looking for since one of my original keys to my 2006 X5 stopped locking and unlocking my SUV. To reprogram the key assuming it isn't broken or defective, I basically insert into ignition with the key in question turn it to position II, remove it, hold the top button and press the emblem button three times?
on 19:15 on this step, when you click the Read EWS which key i should have on the AK90? my old key or my new one?
Hi. I have a question, if you can help me out a bit. I have an e83, with ews 4. I bought the 4.3 4.4 ic adapter. The question is, after i write the new key, i need to write back to the ews? I need to check out the new key slot i use, and write back to the ews?
Thank you.
Hello, I personally don't write back but in general most will write back. You can check out the description for more information
When you were writing to the new key did you keep the ak90 cable connected to the mcu in the ews??
Thanks for all the help!! whats the second software to download? the website has changed since this video.
My 03 E39 original key remote stopped working. Will that AK90+ fix the problem? Please advice. Thanks much
great video! i have an 04 530i and my orginal key comes up as CAS/CAS2/CAS3 but its the diamond blade hu92 why is this?
Hey, yes as noted in the video some are not EWS but CAS. If the BMW uses a CAS system the programmer will not work with it. Another way to check is searching the part number behind the key, if you let me know it I'll check too. The key module will also say EWS or CAS.
My laptop doesn’t have a disk reader what are my options? Buy a disk reader or can I get the software a different way? Thank you
Hello very good video. My query is my 2007 BMW e90 doesn't start anymore. I think the battery went flat at some point and someone told me that if in BMW car battery goes down for around 2 hours, it's key loses its code so I have used obd2 diagnostic tool to check and I got the following codes
2A59 VVT-Leading sensor
2A5B VVT-Ref sensor
2B98 plausibility monitoring of the Ram backup
2F44 EWS 3.3 Manipulation Protection
Can I use AK90+ device to reprogram my existing key so that my car can be started again
Thanks
If you decide not to write back there will show a fault in the EWS module when you scan with a BMW diagnostic tool but nothing appears on the dash and there are no actual problems doing this
@StarSedz Auto
I recently programmed a diamond key to my 1996 E36, I am having issues syncing the key for keyless entry.
Running into this same issue on my 99. Did you figure it out
Hi, would I be right to assume that the new key is in the AK90 from time 19:14 onwards?
That's right. If the transponder is outside the key, it helps if it's standing upright on the AK90.
thanks for your great video tutorial, my AK90 unit was able to read both of my old keys , but not the upgraded after market it indicated "no key".i was able to program the remote functions....what seems to be the issue here .., pls. advise thanks
Check out the previous comments and description as most of the main issues like this are sorted out
Can u upload a vid on changing kms for the cluster? I need to change mine to whT it actually is. Mines been tampered with
Hi there please can you tel me why you diddnt write back to ews because some say if you position key for blank slot must write it back to ews but i diddnt see you doing that
If you don't write back, in theory you can make an infinite amount of keys. On top of that, if a key is ordered from a dealership there's a chance it won't work, because a different key was written back.
Ok and thanks so much for your sharp reply..i understand now👍
Hello, you says: "If you write the EWS after making a key in slot 4, slot 4 will not work if you purchase a dealer key.
Highly detailed complete info on a complex subject. The links to the parts also appreciated. Great job
No problem, glad it helped
Where is the software that works with windows 10? cp210x vcp driver installer. Not found at linked website.
Regards
Sometimes the marking is wrong on the connector. Try it at a different position it won't read it if its wrong. I had to move mine around.
i totally feel you. exactly same situation, exactly same problem... no solution.
I have a e46 . The key is already cut and programmed but I can’t seem to programmed the unlock/lock part
These ones use a different motherboard though dont they? They dont seem to use a rechargeable battery like the US models use
Aftermarket keys do not use a rechargeable battery at all, I've seen a few but most have the interchangeable CR2025 battery. The key case on these can pop open and snap in place, so it isn't a pain when the battery needs changing
Is it possible to just clone a good key's chip? so you dont have to remove the ecu box.
It's not possible for this type of transponder chip to clone
Hey, can you tell me where i can find out which key i need for my E85 Z4 build in 2003? i think its the hu58
but i cant find any information
I have never seen a BMW Z4 that has a HU58 key blade, every one that I have seen has the HU92 blade
@@StarSedzAuto thank you very much for your answer and your video!!
Hi a quick question.
Does this only work on Windows opp systems, I only ask as I've just bought one and the software will not work on a Mac.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Richard.
Yes only Windows. I'd recommend running a "virtual machine" of Windows 7 64bit. A virtual machine would be launching Windows as a program which should work.
Do you highly recommend disconnecting the car battery prior to removing the EWS module from its location???
Yes, and it's easy to do
Thanks Sed
Why do I need a 0B46J K-Line Adapter?Thank you answer
You only need it, if you want to edit the EWS. It's not needed if you're going to program a key.
Hello ! Can you tell me If this AK90+ it's working to copy a key for BMW X5 E53 2006??
Yes up to 2010. If you to confirm check and see if your key module says EWS or CAS.
Hi bud
I have a 2005 x3 e83 and I'm in the UK my key has stopped working properly and I'm keen to try this, is it possible you could give me a few pointers with this please?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers Roy
Sure, is the key OEM or aftermarket and is the issue in regard to the remote or starting the vehicle?
@@StarSedzAuto Sorry just noticed your reply bud, it is original key ( I'm in UK ) I can start the car no problem for now. I now have to lock and open car from drivers door as button function on key fob no longer works 👎
Does the trunk button on the new key work right away as well after you program it?
or do you have to hold the unlock button and hit the trunk button 3 times to get it to work?
Once the remote is programmed, I've noticed some aftermarket keys will open the trunk a few seconds after pressing. It's not instant. No do you do not program the trunk button separately
What model and years will this programmer work? Nice vid. How much does a locksmith charge for a new key and programming?
Thx
The general range is 1996-2004 for 3/5 series. 1996-2008 for the BMW Z series and 2000-2010 for the X series. The 7 series is 1995-2001. Mini coopers for 2002-2007. Range Rover (non sport) 2002-2006. This is all that i know. That will vary by location, expect $75-200. I wouldn't pay more than $150.
is the second software absolutely necessary? I get the message "Please read AK90 key first...!" when I try to Read the key. What am I missing?
ok, I seem to have found the issue, it is what you refer to as "second software", which can extract from the original download file. see instructions on the below link www.key-programmer.org/2016/06/27/ak90-please-read-ak90-key-first/
@@msk8845 Yes, the 2nd software link in the description is needed to communicate with the computer

Hi lost bmw e46 2002 only key how to programme new key to match car?
you need to pull out the EWS system and use the AK90 tool to read the code from the EWS in order to program your new key
So in order for the trunk unlock button to start working, I need to hold it while pressing the center emblem button 3 times?
Yes, hold the unlock and press the lock button 3 times and the locks should cycle showing the key has been programmed, let me know if that works
Hi, I notice that the aftermarket key has four buttons, do all the buttons work? or do we need another step of programming to make it works?
The last button does not do anything, I heard it can be programmed to provide a function with another programmer.
Hello i bought key, open a and lock function is working but i dont have chip there for immobilizer which i have to buy?
Well, if it doesn't have the chip then yes you'd have to buy it. It's an ID44 transponder
@@StarSedzAuto ok thank you very mutch
@@StarSedzAuto ID44(PCF7935AS)
This will be good?
@@tomaspoliak6654 Yes, PCF7935AA is also good. It is the same type of ID44 chip
I see that the description for these programmers state that they are for BMWs
What is the model of the 2010 BMW? This was proven to work up to a 2010 BMW X Series. If you don't have a 2010 BMW X Series than your key is likely different and will require another way to program.
It's not an X series, Its a 535i. Thank you
StarSedz Auto , After Writing the key, you have to Write EWS as well at the end? Can you please answer , this is very urgent
I don't do it. If the next person orders a dealer key using that slot it will not work.
Do I need the AK90 to program a new key from eBay in order to use the remote unlock/lock features (I don’t want the key to start my car)?
You do not
I have 2005 BMW 325ci ... is it EWS or CAS system ? Do you know ? I assume EWS
I would check, it depends on when the 2005 was made. The module will say EWS or CAS.
Hey man I’m currently working on my ews3 od46j all slots are full so I purchased the K like adapter but can’t seem to get it to work when I click read ews it just says reading 0d46j(k-line) ... wait
Do you have the 2 software downloaded? If so, what operating system do you have
StarSedz Auto the version I have is 3.19 and now my original key doesn’t work pretty frustrating I’m not sure how to go about this I used the regular connector and tried to delete key spot 2 to program a new key I don’t know what to do
It seems like key #2 was the original key.
Hi, I have a BMW X3 e83 from 2008 can i use the link who you putted to buy a key for it ? Or I need something else? Thank in advance:)
Of course you'll need the key, the programmer and maybe an adapter if you have an EWS4 (to avoid soldering). Links are in the description if interested, thanks
StarSedz Auto all right, thanks for your time
Would you happened to know if I can make a HU58 with diamond shape style would work for my 1995 M3?
Thanks!
As long as the listing says ID44 or EWS it should come with a chip. No problem, I'm glad to help and that red door panel transformation looks sick!
@15:35...I'm sure it's been covered...but that's not oil...that's a protective film used on soldered joints
why did you buy two diamond shaped keys if you used a newer key?
Great video, playback at 1.5x is just perfect
Thank you so much never thought to speed it up. I was struggling to concentrate on the video.
I haven't been able to get my AK90+ to read my EWS for the last several hours. I've cleaned the hell out of the pins and make sure everything is tight and touching, reinstalled software and drivers, tried windows 10 and xp, nothing works. I just keep getting that "pin not touch" error
Then I noticed that my EWS actually says "US EWS-3+". Is EWS3+ something different that won't work? I have the same 0D46J chip you do from an e85 2004 Z4 . Everything looks the same except the box. Mine says USA in a couple places. Do I need a different programmer?
Did you ever find a solution?
Great video. Do you know if you can erase lost keys with this tool? Thanks
I don't remember, but I know you can rewrite an existing key slot that would have the previous one "erased"
Is there a way to keep the push and hold windows down function on the aftermarket fobs?
I never thought about that. My car doesn't have that with the regular key but there's a chance that will work.
Thanks for the response. I think all e46 have that feature. Having a hard time finding an answer. Thanks!
can this be used to clone EWS? If I get new EWS. Think mine is faulty

(The reason i didnt is because The old key bmw locking button doesnt work)
If neither open the trunk, but lock/unlock the doors it is likely an issue with the trunk. It can be a problem with the actuator or the wires itself.
StarSedz Auto Diamond keys are just so problematic. I mean could be the battery dying or not holding a charge since the ignition charges it.
Right, so like a cellphone battery it loses charge and signal
StarSedz Auto I got the key like 4-5 years ago from the dealer and the internals crapped out two years later so I sent it to someone that fixes BMW keys and it works perfectly, buttons and all. Now it's just somewhat poor range sometimes.
Does the old key need to have a working battery in it? What if it is totally dead or taken apart and removed?
Even if the battery is removed, it will still start the BMW. If a chip or part of the remote was damaged during the battery removal or key opening, it might fail to start the BMW.
@@StarSedzAuto Thanks for responding, and for taking the time to make a video. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant to ask, will the AK90 be able to read my old key if the battery is not installed?
@@youeweu Yes it should. If it's not reading it place the key upside down or to its side.
Is it possible for me to reprogram already exsisting key with ak90+ or i have to buy new key and the programe it?
FakeID You can’t reprogram a used key from my testing, but you can buy a new ID44 transponder chip. The remote can be reused
@@StarSedzAuto thank you for information!
Can we rewrite the after market key or yhe original key to the used slot?
The black transponder? No
Do you need your old key for the ak-90 programming to work ? I don’t have my old key or a spare because they got stolen. Please respond
You don't need an old key
StarSedz Auto thank you so much. I ordered all the supplies. And will be doing the programming soon so I will comment again if it works!
Have you tried to read a used key and write it into the EWS? Is it possible? Or is it virgin chips only?
Yes I have tried. It cannot rewrite a used key. However, you can buy a new transponder chip and use the remote from a used key.
Thanks man
HELLO
can you do a series 3 of 2014
I don't know a cheaper programmer that can program that generation key today
Hey, thanks for the video. Great info. What can you do if you don't have a optical drive, is there a download available?
I'm sure there's a download page with the AK90+ software somewhere
@@StarSedzAuto I'll take a look around. Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial. I've bought a new key and have sent it off to be cut and have the AK90+ programmer. Unfortunately all I have is Windows 10 to run the software which I have heard can be a headache. Any advice or tips from anyone that has done that is welcome.
Worst case scenario would be to run a Windows 7 virtual machine, same for Mac users
Actually I did find that the original key is 315MHz, same as the new key. What might cause a write error and prevent the key from programming?
