Nick is your man for problem solving, he just works quietly in the background. Here is to an easy fit and straight sailing from then on. Its all starting to come together now. Well done team.
Holy cow .... watching you come from a mild mannered gardener into a master carpenter is an amazing journey for us viewers. Where are you learning your carpentry skills ?? Perhaps a mix of TH-cam and go to old, natural intelligence ? Your framing out of the tower roof is just amazing..
Don't forget Dan is a chef and film maker too. Multi talented. Super skilled. We are invested in everything you do. Thanks for taking us on the journey
When I first started watching your videos I thought you guys were crazy; that you'd never be able to successfully restore that derelict chateau. Now, however, I have to say I was wrong; you're gonna "make it after all."
Such a not so simple design from photos and no engineered drawings of any kind to go from. All 3 of you have the skills and experience to do this, but it takes some brainstorming to check each other’s drawings and thoughts. Good planning on the dry fit for such heavy timber’s. Oh yes, and a puppy too. ☺️
That was extremely smart to build it on the ground to solidify that you're happy with the structure! By the way, Chateau Du Purnon posted a vlog today of a open house that they did recently and it had roof building demonstrations in there that shows how they originally fitted pieces together to make a arch in the roof! Check it out because it's really interesting and could give you a new vision toward your rebuild as well! Loving the puppy and the shirt Brian, lol
I was startled by red oak timber glowing under cloudy skies, but thrilled to see the stop blocks on the joists. I almost expected cleats, but since the joists are already at an angle, blocks are enough to hold things in place until the fasteners go in (just genius). It was also a joy to watch Team Chaumont working together to check each others' maths. Bonus: sleepy Noggin. ;) Thanks very much for sharing each accomplishment with us!
It's not only the tallest, it's the most susceptible to a strike .. so don't forget the grounded LIGHTNING ROD (been there).. you don't want to set fire to the place now.. and maybe check with ATC requirements.
Not necessarily, if the roof material is not metallic, then why the need for a grounding system? That system might attract a hit for sure, and not many systems installed with this type of budget would survive a good direct hit. That would likely cause a fire inside the structure where the inadequate copper conductors would be vaporized to plasma. Copper is now a wordwide commodity costing much more than one might think, unless in that industry.
It's like being addicted... Here in South Africa 🌍🇿🇦🇿🇦we wait until about 10pm for the next episode. Worth every time to get an update. Thanks for lessons learned and inspiration every day during the build. 🎉🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦👍👍👍
Three Thinking Heads - Three Minds - Three Pairs of Eyes - hey - lets build that Turret Frame ! Dry Fitting is the Way to go - looks all spot on - Tomorrow is the Day to start Fitting up the Turret - should be a very Exciting Day ! More Great Progress - Team Work and many Cheers from Australia !
The Chateau was clearly a stunningly beautiful building - even when it was a complete wreck. But now as its original state is starting to be apparent - wow. Just gorgeous. Long way to go, but I have been anxious about getting it protected from the weather as quickly as possible. So glad that is in sight. Nothing is more important than protecting one’s possessions and interior from water damage.
Dan you are a great example of the saying 'Do or do not, there is no try' you definitely 'Do', Well Done! It's all so amazing and you saw it, then made it happen! 🎉
What an absolutely phenomenal job Dan, Nick and Brian are doing. I have watched every video since day one. The history of this ole orphanage being restored is heart felt. My grandfather came from a Jewish orphanage similar to this one. Thank God they existed.
Good morning team ❤ Omg 😱 she’s going up 😁🙌tooo Morro … What a masterpiece she will be and what a amazing achievement with all the figuring out and maths to just whip up a frame 😂 you lost me at hello but I see where you’re going with this ❤ The 3 Amigos… 🙏🙏 Please be safe in your day up in the turret ☺️
Dan,Nick,Brian. Watching you assemble the A frame for the turret is interesting. Tomorrow will be the big formation of the skeleton to bring home the chateau. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. Love you guys 🍺🍺🍺👍🌈🙏❤️🌹🌞😇🕊🇺🇸
Tonic for the day - done🥰 Honestly Dan - you, Nick and Brian ( complementary puppies) are just an amazing team - can't believe I have the privilege to watch this from the comfort of my home - thank you so much and God keep you all safe and healthy 😇😇😇
Never mind about all the work - that puppy is drop dead gorgeous! So glad that you kept one of them Dan with pup's Mum and the other girl dog. Your Irish friend has a love for the pup I think? But back to the building - it is amazing how you have all worked out how to put the structure for the roof together. Team work makes the dream work here. xxx
I have a grandson who is a Chef - he's definitely not a draftsman/architect as well. There are special people who are simply good at anything they set their hands on. Crack on, lads!
That looks really complicated..what a job to work this roof out, but you did it....really clever..I really am learning so much from your vlog..my husband keeps asking where did you learn about this...hes always been the one who knows all about building..but thanks to you ..I am catching up..❤
Why Do I always feel Best when I hear Nic's voice? I know Dan & Brian are geniuses, but ...still Nic is on another level of > "Saftey". We appreciate 🙏 you around the 🌎 Nic.🎉 USA here ( Chicago) 😉. Been waiting for this last Roof! 🙌 exact measurements - because it will stick out the most! So glad it's Stronger at the tippy top. 😉 ❤
Love Dan's positive vibes and the guys have also got a strong work ethic too. Great Team. They just get the job done! So many builders are lost on the phones nowadays 😊👍💯💪
Only took me 15 sittings to catch up on 300 odd videos. Haven't been able to stop watching this fantastic series of an adventure filled reno. Totally want to see this finished. Greetings from Downunder.
Thats a Great way to mock up that Roofline design. Especially with 3 brains storming👍👍👍Awesome resolve Gents!!🏁🏁🏁🔧🛠️🔧Eureka !!! Be blessed , prayers of safety & success. 550,000K SUBS🤙🤙
You're a mad genius! Love watching you. I can hold my breath now for over 2 minutes lol.😊 I hope Brian takes little Noggins home. Dog loves him and he can bring him with so Noggins' mom and auntie can watch over him while Brian works. ❤
Autumnal feel. It’ll be great to have a - more or less - weatherproof roof on the chateau…..with only the slates to do the final waterproofing alongside the guttering. Amazing progress. Clever men designing and building the chateau. Great stuff.
My first comment here. On our house remodel we installed fir beams that were nearly 24"/60 cm square. We didn't realize that they were not dried to the proper specifications, and after two years the beams shrunk considerably. The bolts we used to tie them into a steel structure became incredibly loose. If you're using bolts, may I suggest that you include in your design, a way to get to them should they loosen over time.
I'm praying for Dan's A-team to be safe and without harm the next few days while they work on this roof! I also hope for lots of video during the process because this will be an epic adventure and a once in a lifetime experience! Please be safe, A-team!! B from USA
You all are great math wizards!!! Love seeing Dan holding the puppy! This is amazing so very exciting and fun to follow. All the best and you all be safe!
Wow. It's just so hard to wrap my head around you're at this point. I remember back to that first video when you showed us the ruin of the chateau. I didn't see how it could be restored enough to put a roof on it. And here you are, doing the last roof of the hardest part, the turret. Just. wow. Big vision.
Don’t forget to put up a lightning rod and ground it - wouldn’t want a lightning fire to take it all down, after all this hard work
oooooh the irony!
Yep I was gonna say that 😂
@@aprilbolsover5879 Yes.
I already said this recently, but it certainly bears repeating until Dan says he's seen it and is going to do something about it 😮
@@catherinefromchristchurchn6508has anyone ever noticed if Dan actually reads these or not?
Better than a Netflix series. Everyday we just wait for the next episode to come out! ❤
We don't watch Netflix. They are communists.
So true!
I just want to pull up a deckchair and watch these blokes build a chateau. they could sell tickets
Yep!
I don't have Netflix Mylsidor, but yes I wait for the next episode ; ))
Every day I look forward to these videos!!
Yes me too I am ready for a cold fall day and a Danathon...of the entire project again.

I love the collaboration between Dan, Nick And Brian!
All salt of the earth men
So do I. They're creating art.

I love having frequent updates in minable lengths. This series has become something my wife and I enjoy watching together.
I LOVE Escape to Rural France. I’ve watched it consistently since the first episode. But admittedly, I’m greedy. I wish these videos were much longer.
Love watching you three work together, brainstorming how to make this frame work. And Brian holding Noggin as you do it. So cute!
You 3 are a fantastic team, what we see every day is incredible. I never miss a video about this outstanding performance
Yes the superhero trio is amazing❤
It’s going to look fantastic.Thanks Dan,Nick and Brian🥰🍺🍺🍺

Even seeing the frame laid out on the ground was exciting.
2000+ views in 3 minutes!!! Dan you’re killing it!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

So true Sandra! And the way of presentation is extremely intelligent and captivating. Keep it up, Dan and team and take care of yourselves 🍀🍀🍀💪🏻

That's what I ponder. Where did he learn these ancient skills and all that complicated geometry?
I think Dan is way smarter than the average bear.

Wow, very good point; had not even thought about that. So true.
I do remember seeing some very opulent lightning rods he had made that are to go on there.
@@lisahagness8201 They`re finials but I`m not sure if they`re meant as lightning rods or just for decoration. I guess we`ll find out soon enough. 😃
