    Love the Timmy. These pedals really bring out the best in your awesome articulation.
    I think the main difference is that the Timmy sounds a bit grittier whereas the tube screamer is smoother and a lot more compressed.

    Nice playing Mate. I have an older Timmy but I must say, a lot of that tone comes right from your fingers. Your sound is tremendous.

    I like both! TS is smoother and Timmy has more grit. I'd happily use either or both. If I had to choose one, I would choose the Timmy because I like gritty sounds.

    These would be great for stacking. Timmy first for a base overdrive, then TS added for solo lines.

      That’s exactly what I do. I have the Timmy on most of the time then hit the 808 for more dirt.

      @@paulbusalacchi2970 I've actually read that the final pedal has more impact on the tone so I would think you would want to go TS - Timmy but use them as you suggested.

    Good comparison. I also think the TS has a bit of that mid hump that you can’t tweak. On the other hand you can’t give the Timmy a mid hump; you can cut the bass and treble but it’s not quite the same thing.

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeh it's one of those weird things as with some Amps you definitely would like a mid hump but also to be able to cut the high and bass independently like you can with the Timmy!

    To my ears, the TS was smoother with less bass. The Timmy added more harmonic content, sounded more open with wider frequency response.

    Damn. I'm revisiting this, after the phantom Tube Screamer vs ODR vs TImmy video.... I have that Behringer, too, but that Timmy sounds great. You're the only person who has ever made me want a Timmy. I've tried in the past to find interest in it, but i just haven't liked it. Until now. Oh, no... the further i get in this video, the more i like the Behringer. Once again-i'm so confused! [Wish i could play like that.] Another note-on both the other video with the Nobels, and here with the Behringer, you have the drive cranked-i don't typically see people using it that high. And yet your tone isn't super high gain. Does the loop switcher have something to do with that? I'm assuming the Iridium must be completely clean. And still, i'd expect more gain. But, this is just sweet, singing tone. Gorgeous.

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Iridium is completely clean, and I use low output single coils - so a tubescreamer cranked (timmy has similar levels of gain) isn't really a particularly high gain!

      @@johnnathancordy. Maybe your approach to dialing in tone, iridium/helix settings, playing technique. Just a suggestion, but whatever you want :). You clearly have the talent, not sure why your channel hasn't blown up. Some of the other youtube guitar marketers/teachers make a good living I'm sure.. I'm not a pro, just a couch guitarist so this all is really fun stuff to learn.
