I have a theory on the white wolf and what the characters represent. The white wolf represents Japan when it was in world war 2. The white wolf has one red eye, rises like the sun, and is accompanied by lots of bomber planes ( like the Japanese flag and of course, bomber planes from world war 2). I think that Kedamono represents the younger generations of Japan and wanting to forget that past. This would explain why Kedamono freaks out in ep. 39 when frog says his face looks just like his mother’s. He wears a mask to conceal his true nature as a beast, and the beast of the war. Popee seems to represent some social issues in Japan. Ryuji Masada says that in Japan, a lot of people are anxious that if they don’t get good results they won’t be loved, and that this is how popee feels as well. Loneliness is also an issue in Japan, and popee is terrified of being abandoned, as shown in the episode Loneliness.
