      I'll be following along with my freshly made Purifier to see how he does and how much I enjoy shooting things. (I have a vindicator which was my first alt to finish the base campaign using a rifle that had +4 to both storm box nodes. That was pretty cool. I've been looking for another one with that combo but have yet to find one. Too bad it's a lower-level gun and I had to replace it.

    Like you, I grabbed the dual wield first. Because when the build is fun, it generates forward momentum, which is a huge factor in long-term success. Dual-wielding Purifiers are an absolute blast to play.

    Very well done video, and I really appreciate the explanations! I picked this game up on the steam holiday sale and glad I did. Thanks for the view and the very favourable comment. There are loads of 'tips' and game features I don't mention in these Purifier videos because I was concentrating on showing the skills and specific way to play this build. I already get comments in other videos saying they're too long but if I put every useful tip into every video we'd be here for about ten years just getting off the loading screen :)

    • @Laiynnalaiynna
      @Laiynnalaiynna 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Arcadelife1 Totally understandable :). Will you make more videos like this one about different builds? I've started the game about 2 weeks ago and have built several alts, all are around level 35 now but my Purifier is 50. I tend to always go for at least an Inquisitor or Nightblade first for the dual wielding and at level 10 add different classes, but the Warlord build is also very good. Any spellcaster build is a total mystery to me, my attempts seem to be too fragile to last.

      @Arcadelife1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment.
      That description of getting to 30s and dying a lot sounds just like my own early experience with the game - many ways to get your character into a fail-state which is no fault of your own.
      I recommend:
      Pick one or two main attack skills that use the same damage type - check the tool tips on each skill because not even two skills on one mastery (class) will necessarily have the same damage type.
      Equip gear that directly buffs that damage type and does not convert it to a different type.
      Use Character tab 2 to check the damage done by your left and right mouse button skills (sorry if you’re on game pad) - watch these figures change when you swap gear items.
      When levelling up, assign points to mastery bar as well as to skills, so your attribute points keep going up - mastery points raise all attributes each point added.
      There are many more specific tips, but get that stuff sorted and life will be much easier.

    • @Arcadelife1
      @Arcadelife1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That question gets a solid 10/10 - I’m now thinking I should do a video specifically about this. If you have a look in the video description at the grimtools for the level 100 Purifier, you’ll see several of the main augments are from Coven of Ugdenbog, while others are filler just for random resistances. While levelling, I can’t think of any specific faction gear that’s needed but I’ll give this a lot more thought because there are certain to be faction options for some items. Started this build a few days ago before I saw your video. I'm up to the bastion of sorrow and at level 48. The armor and weapons I'm rocking give 22/12 points in fire strike, I'm pushing roughly 8500 in dps. Only problem I have is the character is fairly squishy and would love to have a tank hold agro on bosses so I can shred.

      Indeed it does. A few years ago I swapped the keybind from shift to the key immediately to the left of the ‘1’ key on the top row. That’s even better.
      Now I just use fewer skills and never need to hold a key down to shoot in place. It’s all about choice and personal preference.

    How I just picked up this game during the current Stream Holiday sale and well I started five different characters and "Delete" each of them since none were doing it for me. I saw this series and watched the first and most of the second parts and this is a petty good build for an character. Now I do tend to focus on a few things and allocated points a bit different and my character is level 15 and not having to worry about "Spirit" and just blast away with your two pistols is petty good. • @Arcadelife1
      @Arcadelife1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could also re-bind the ‘stationary shoot’ key from shift to the button immediately left of ‘1’ on the top row of keys (it’s tilde or something) which is viable if you have loads of skills assigned and can’t use the mouse-button swap method. That’s easier to use than shift, in my experience.

      Thanks for the comment 👊🙂
      I was a bit obsessed with dual-wielding for this series, which hopefully explains that reaction to the 2H gun. If you want to use a 2H gun, most of the skills and gear will be exactly the same apart from you will most likely want to take the Kraken devotion for the significant buffs to two-handed weapons (this includes guns). Later on, there’s a blueprint you can buy from Malmouth Resistance faction for a 2H gun called The Desolator which is a great weapon for a Purifier gun build.
      I’ll find a link to a video of that Desolator gun and edit it into the comment … and here it is - th-cam.com/video/wpJ-VvW2EBI/w-d-xo.html

    I always buy scrap just so I never run out for crafting things. When I get more than 100 I start putting them into shared stash, then you can get them from there on other characters and won't have to go find them. I do the same with dynamite... meaning when I get to Homestead I make extra and store it with other purple components so that I can pick it up on other characters early and use it on the bridge to Eastmarsh when I get to it (I don't repair it, just clear the debris away so I don't have to do it later).

    • @Arcadelife1
      @Arcadelife1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, stockpiling a load of stuff in shared stash is definitely a necessary strategy. This character (Purifier in video) was deliberately done on a clean/fresh save file so I had nothing in shared stash at the start.

    • @jchinckley
      @jchinckley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Arcadelife1 Yeah, I know. But at the start I don't (weird quirk, I guess) like having to search for scrap with Barnabas' quest on me, so I buy it when I can, but mostly just find the scrap before I even talk to him the first time. Then, if I want, I can go straight to the Slith killing in the deep dark depths of the well's innards. LoL
      I was rewatching this while making a purifier and I started with Inquisitor as you did, but was unsatisfied. So I deleted him, started over (same name) but chose Demolitionist first. Rather than go immediately for Francis' pistol I just used the first rifle I picked up and used Fire Strike in conjunction with it. _That_ takes out the Aetherials/zombies with one shot nearly every time. That first boss went down with 4-5 shots. I didn't even have to run away. Any of his minions that got in the way were instantly melted into red mist. So I get the reason the others might have suggested Demo first.
      Up to your videos, the strongest things in Inquisitor for me were the runes. I could use them to melt through totems without much difficulty since you can lay down up to 5 of each at a time. But I'm paying more attention to the other abilities the class has now.

      @@jchinckley There are plenty of 'better' ways to level a Purifier, this build was specifically for anyone who wants to run around with 2 pistols as soon as possible, dealing high enough damage to get through campaign content fairly easily without needing to invest points into skills they might not like or might only use for early levelling. It's just one approach to playing the game, as simple as I could make it.

    Hey i'm really liking your Grim Dawn content and there's a hell of alot of it!. In depth guides like this one where you just talk away about it slowly imparting your experience.
    I've been messing with the GD Defiler tool also, doing the 'skills from any mastery' thing (i used to do that with Titan Quest) just trying to find skills from other masteries that compliment the Purifier ... the shaman gun passives and 'star pact' executive skill, and the Arcanist has a couple of executive skills that would support it also. @Arcadelife1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have a go at answering, but it’s going to be generic stuff as I don’t know the details of the character you’re playing.
      1 - Veteran enemies take longer to kill (damage sponges) and hit harder. For a new Grim Dawn player, this can be a significant challenge.
      2 - Have you focussed on levelling one main damage skill while also increasing your mastery by at least one point each level up? If you have spread skill points around multiple damage skills, and/or not been raising your mastery(s) you will start having noticeable issues.
      3 - Is your gear buffing the main damage type you deal? Also, is any of your gear converting your main damage type to a different damage type (generally not helpful).
      4 - Check your main resistances on character tab 1. As soon as you start encountering groups of undead archers (at 26, I’m assuming this has already happened) low piercing resistance can be a big factor in getting killed quickly.
      5 - I’ll link a couple of tips videos in another reply (got to dig the links out…)
      6 - feel free to keep asking questions 👊🙂

      The damage (fire) is good for the build , but I went with a devotion setup that gave a balance of damage, pretty fireworks, and survivability (damage converted to health on ghoul and heals from chariot for example). As with most of the builds and guides I have on here, it’s not “this is the only way” - I’d recommend trying magi and see if it does what you want; if not, it’s easy to swap around.

      In most of the build guide videos (this is a very early one from two years ago) I include timestamps and other info. This was a bit of a weird one because although it's an hour it only includes level-ups to level 10. I'll go back to it and see if there's any great benefit adding timestamps for each level-up or whatever. Thanks for the interest in this and for commenting.

    the sound of gunshots is cancerous. what a difficult game to decide whether to play or not.

      I recommend not playing it, certainly not a character with guns. Permanent trauma from just the few gunshots heard in this video. Maybe try chess?

      I couldn’t, but millions could. Don’t even watch the other ten episodes, it doesn’t get any better.
      Thanks for the view and the comment, it’s much appreciated.
