- Here's how to install the Chrome browser on the Chromecast with Google TV. Step by step instructions to get the Chrome browser installed and working and also find out if its right for you or if you should use another browser.
The Chrome browser isn't currently available from the Playstore for the Chromecast with Google TV so this is an alternative way to install the Chrome browser.

The remote that comes with it works great for me. I'd use an old version of ES File explorer for side loading and I use local files rather than the cloud, but otherwise I use basically the same method. This method (the one you use) is especially good for you because it's much easier and easier to explain.
do you use that puffn browser he recommended or does the remote work fine in chrome

The chromecast remote is not working and it’s just a headache. Do you have a solution to have the pointer?
@@OnlineCitizenTV no, it just worked for me, I didn't do anything to make it work... there's no pointer, the arrow keys just move from browser and/or page element to browser and/or page element.
Chrome Didn’t give me an option to open
Pretty demented that Google TV comes without Chrome or the possibility to install it (and Drive, Keep, Calendar etc) from the Play store. Even the cheapo FireStick lite features a Browser and I can say "show my calendar" and it does, after connecting it to my Google account (it took one Minute to do so). I can't understand all those 5-Star-Ratings.
Installing chrome works fine. But i can not open the app and it does not appear in my general app list. It appears in the system apps. Any suggestions?

Try the pc file transfer method. I was able to do it straight from my phone browser

Yes, agree. So strange and painful is the way Google acts there. It is ridiculous to not allow install Google Chrome browser on the official Google TV device.

How did you do this? I'm paired with an Xbox controller but it's still difficult to navigate any website I visit in Chrome, which pretty much makes it useless.
Also select the TH-cam button as the one to activate the mouse

The file commander app does not support Google chrome connection any longer. Please update you video or remove it as it is no longer valid.

It's a complete joke I can't use chrome on a chrome cast device.
How do I connect my ps controller to it so I can search the chrome app after I install it
Put the controller in Bluetooth pairing mode and pair it with Chromecast

Still dont understand why chromecast wont let you log onto a network that is either unlocked or that you have the password for, but you have to go to a sign up page in a browser i.e. logging in as a guest on a businesses network or if your in a hotel and have the wifi password after you input password you are taken to a browser page to click sign in or whatever. Firestick does it with mo problem after you have type in the wifi password ,amazon firestick immediately opens its browser to the networks sign up page. So frustrating i travel alot and instead of lugging around my ps5 its just easier to use stadia but find myself more so than not being screwed because of the bullshit a8gn in pages google cant get past. Literally every other streaming device can do it but not google , and stadia although can be side loaded onto a few of the other streaming sticks plays like garbage usually unplayable, works brilliantly on chromecast ultra or chromecast with google tv

idk why but for some reasons, the installed Chrome app does not appear either in the Home screen nor the installed apps list in Settings :) any suggestions?
It was successfully installed, I even tried to reinstall it to be sure and it asked if I want to update the existing app, which means the app was installed :D

I had the same issue. I was using a newer version of chrome than he showed in the video. If you go to all apps, you will see chrome listed under system apps. Uninstall it and then install the exact same version he uses. I believe it was february 17, 2021. Worked for me after that.

On welcome to chrome, I can't press ok on accept and continue.
I followed these clear instructions and Chrome seemed to install o.k. I can now see it in "All Apps" but clicking Open does nothing. Is it a permissions issue? If so, how do I fix it?

"There was a problem while parsing the package" is the message I keep getting. I got as far as installing the file in File Commander.

why on earth would someone do all of these when there is already a google play app that can install the safe version of chrome from google it self

Hello! Unfortunately after adding my Google Drive, the File Kommander says Error, this app is not supported. But I just wanted to browse my Google Drive with it, I haven't yet tried to open any other app! Or Google Dive doesn't support File Kommander? Does it need additional settings? Is there any other method to send the apk tp the device? Thanks!

FYI, there's a glitch right now in file explorer when scrolling through file folders not being highlighted when selected. Just go to the right to highlight the three dots section on the folder then click left.

The entire reason I want to get a chromecast is so I can browse on the Chrome web browser and the device doesn't come with the Chrome web browser? WHAT A JOKE
Doesn't work anymore. Adding cloud accounts to File Commander is no longer working. It says "Sorry, this app is not supported. Please try again later."

Not sure if anyone's told you why yet, but the reason it doesn't appear in your apps is because it's a mobile app, not a tv app. That's why the remote doesn't work with it too and why it's not available in the play store. You'd think it'd be a top priority for google to get chrome on this, but i guess not.
