Thanks for posting - a really enjoyable concert. I've only recently discovered the Astoria Centre, and what a magnificent venue it is. Your beautiful Compton looks newer than new and has the sweetest sound. I'm in great admiration of the hard work put in by your volunteer team to achieve this - a true labour of love. These fabulous instruments are as contemporary now as when they were first introduced. I hope many more episodes of 'At the Astoria' will be posted.
Hi Andrew. Many thanks indeed for your very kind words. We really hope that you enjoy our clips and episodes as much as we enjoy making them and sharing the sound of our Compton organ for others to enjoy. The Compton was pretty much restored to ‘newer than new’ condition, with great attention to detail, such as the new replica stop tabs and engraving, which was done in our workshop by our wonderful team of volunteers. We hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you to the Astoria Centre someday but in the meantime please look out for further episodes and clips of the Compton organ in the forthcoming weeks ahead. Many thanks for your kind support, it is greatly appreciated.
What a wonderful performance of a nice selection of tunes! Thank You!! May I suggest that the next time you make a recording if this magnificent Compton instrument that the Mike’s are placed more toward the chambers rather than out in the auditorium. Somehow over “You Tube” the audio was filtered to pass only the mid-range spectrum. If I didn’t see the Celeste and pedals being played I wouldn’t know they that part of the sonority was there. Still, the concert was really enjoyable from your newly discovered site. Again Thank You.
Thank you so much...
