I love Beethoven... I was playing Für Elise and Moonlight Sonata on the piano, and I start to cry when I listening to you playing those beautiful music on the kalimba. At 1:02 the points " . "after the number should be " ° " but it means the same thing which is like what magicalmoments said it is used to differentiate the same number but on a higher octave. The more dots/points the higher the note :)
Some kalimbas have the notes on the tines. Something this video doesn’t have for the notes are the letters that correspond with the numbers. An example would be C1, G5 and so on.

You can use a tuner which can be easily downloaded on your phone :)

How do you know when to switch from left to right?
You should watch Sam Salvador’s guide on how to read kalimba number tabs. That might help you to how to play.
