A real talent to sing this so stripped down with her beautiful vulnerable voice. There’s nobody close to her today. Amy you still so loved and so missed.

Amy Winehouse was such an amazing talent. This world lost her way too soon. There really isn't a bad song (in my opinion) by her. "Me and Mr. Jones", "Back to Black" and "You know I'm no good ", are my favorites by her.

He was so saddened by her lack of confidence and self worth, he said she was one of the greatest female vocalists he ever heard, right up there with Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holliday, any of them. But she had no idea what a gift she had, and let other people control her and ruin her life. Thank God at least we have her recordings and a handful of videos

It's so crazy you're reacting to Amy Whinehouse and of all the songs Valerie. I was just at a barbecue yesterday and we were playing this song and this version. I feel like her passing was such a tragedy. A voice that beautiful should've been protected.

R.I.P. sweet Amy 💔 She had that incredibly unique gift of being able to connect with those who were in pain - her lyrics, her music but combine that with her amazing VOICE and you have a LEGENDARY, ONCE IN A LIFETIME ARTIST....won 5 Grammys in one night. But gone far too soon....this world & fame was too much for her to cope with.
She battled bulimia in her teens/20's, alcoholism/drug addiction in her 20's and the scumbag of a husband that destroyed her. Just toxic.
*PLEASE REACT* to ‘Back To Black’ the official video to convey her emotions - it's about her 'husband' but tragically she paid the price for loving him. In the video she was burying her broken heart😢🖤 The entire *Back To Black* Album is a MASTERPIECE.....It literally saved my life....Amy got me through one of my darkest depressions - I'm forever indebted to her....like SO many others, we all wanted to help her too.....
I'm Irish, so I adore her stripped acoustic songs in her 'Dingle' set - 'Back To Black" was so haunting, perhaps cos it was in Dingle Church....her voice didn't need any instruments (her band was delayed due to weather) Singing was like breathing to Amy - effortless.
Other songs you *need* to check out - 'You Know I'm No Good'; 'Love Is A Losing Game', 'Me & Mr Jones' - the list is endless - and her covers were better than the originals!

I will never the day she died - 23-07-11....just over 10 yrs ago. I cried for DAYS....I couldn't even listen to her music for over 6 months, and I still cry for her.....she was my Muse.

Amy was One of the last Grate Jazz/ Blues singers .. she was jazz/ Blues rooted but she was a hybrid mix of jazz and ska reggae/ lovers rock musicality’s, that’s what made her Voice so Unique sounding... the early jazz/ Blues era singers was the most soulful and versatile singers and Amy winehouse was cut from that original and authentic cloth..

Amy Winehouse had a remarkable voice & talent. Of course, like most of her fans, I never knew her personally, so I can only judge her by what's left...the music. I was hooked on her as soon as I heard her and her passing is one of the few 'celebrity deaths' that affected me (I had something in my eye, I swear). This footage puts across what a loss to the world she was; she had charisma, presence and she was a natural singer who didn't seem to need to put in any effort (I don't doubt that she did) to give life and character to a song.
Was a friend of mine but she was on a self destruction mode and could not be stopped GOD BLESS HER LOVING SOUL

Amy was one absolute Badass... Juggernaut, beautifully, sparkling and muddy, speeding out-of-control Baldwin "Big-Boy" Locomotive! Another gift we can now only enjoy by pressing the PLAY button. Everyone saw it coming too, it wasn't even a surprise. However brightly she may have burned, then burnt out, there for a while we had her. We should be thankful for that. Rest In Peace Girl.

Out of interest what did you feel about that so called boyfriend Amy knocked about with? I strongly believe Amy would still be here if he didn't screw up her rehab just to keep her down and carry on being his meal ticket for the drugs.
@@paulwalton1222 I couldnt stand him. We told her he was bad for her. I hated him. I will blame him it was him who should have been supporting her and letting her get the treatment by walking away and keeping away and not answering her calls.

@@Ruebz_f30 I was we both lived in Camden. I used to wo work on the market. I used to drink in the Hawley Arms ahd Amy used to go in there as she lived close to it. We first met on the market. All the stall holders knew her. Theres a statue of her in the market now.

A truly tragic story about her literally drinking herself to death. She had daemons that she simply could not control, and they ultimately killed her. Very sad, and what a loss to the music world, she was a one-of-a-kind talent.

Her, "Love is a losing game" always gets me.
This is one of my favorite solo vocals of the last 10 years, bar none. But on a more somber note, this is also what heroin addiction looks like -- not to take a moelcule away from Ms. Winehouse or her gargantuan talent. Given where I grew up, I can say with some authority, others more for sure, she was fully in its possession. You can tell from the physical ticks. A great shame. And still a great, great singer.
Such a sad loss of a great singing voice. So natural, one of a kind.
Just tragic what she and we lost.... I feel selfish being sad that I never got to witness the timing , talent and tone of such a gifted angel... may she Rest in peace.

Funny true story. Me and my boyfriend went to a Indian Casino in Laveen AZ on day after work. And he wanted to go hear the band play in the bar. I just wanted to go home because I was tired and dirty from work. So my Boyfriend said "Why don't you want to see the Band is one of your old Boyfriend's in the Band?" So the band was playing some random song and just as we walked in it switched and started playing "Valerie" it was so funny. What a coincidence!

This song was originally written and recorded by a British band called The Zutons. They had some solid albums in the mid-2000s.
I thought Marc Ronson wrote it and didn't that band sing backup for her?
