  • Be sure to check out my video on how I turned my Exmark 21" Commercial Mower into a Twin Bladed Mower!
This is the longer version of the video Review. I plan on doing a much shorter review with less Rambling Talk. I have been using these Havener Enterprises,Inc. Sulky Riders for many years. They have changed over the years with only improvements. I don't know how some of these guys go all day without a sulky rider. Productivity and energy. This isn't a sponsor video but if you like one and saw this video, can you tell them the video did it. LOL, never know if it'll help me. I still need another one. I hope this video helped and Thanks for watching. Might want to subscribe I have some more videos coming in time.

Thank you! It's getting near the end of the season. It's been a good rider. I still find myself thinking the turn is wider but I think it's the bigger tires that's on them. Just have to be careful turning around things but having bigger tires has been more beneficial. The sand, mud, high grass level on sidewalks..less turf damage, softer ride, etc. I finally got a flat. Put some slime in them and they have been holding air. The tires treads are getting low. I really put them to work but looks like I need to replace them before next season. I haven't checked the bushings but will likely replace them before the next season? Not sure. Bushings and washers are $60 and tires price? Might be better off selling this while it's still works and use that money towards a new one . After paying for parts I might just break even or close if I sale this for $100.

    Good Video
I just purchased this sulky for my Toro Proline Hydro 44. Would you say this sulky gives the operator a feel of using a stander mower, or more of just operating the machine with a sulky or somewhere in between?

Thanks! I don't recall but I might have said like a stander because all the other sulkies I've had before this had smaller tire and rims and when I first stood on it, I felt higher up because they went with the larger tire and rim. The last stand on I tested was the Scag V Ride. This isn't as tall as an actual stander but felt it put me up in the air a few extra inches. Using the other ones with smaller tires for many years I had to get used to the "swing out radius" on this one. The turning radius is a few inches wider. Can break something if not careful.

I have three different kinds of sulkys and I use the one you have the most . The only real down side to the one you have it is very heavy and next to impossible hanging it up just to heavy. But I like that you do not need to jump off while backing up ,

I have to agree ,it is heavy. This case with it being heavy duty it's also has some weight. I have to order some bushings for my other one so I have been switching on sulky between two mowers. I need to hurry and get the bushings. Really nice not having to jump off while going backwards for sure.

What about on hills, does it get in your way if you have to get off and walk?

    • @johnbailey9682
      @johnbailey9682 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I really never get off. I have no lawns with hills at all . You can walk behind it but there is no reason at least not for me . Most of our lawns are flat anyway way .

John Bailey thanks for the reply, we have a lot of hills here in Missouri, so I find myself jumping off and walking behind or next to the mower so it can hold the hill better. I use a regular sulky, which is easy to jump on and off with. Also I don’t like the way it stripes, I have a 52” Exmark Turftracer and my sulky leaves smaller stripes inside of large wheels from the lawn mower. Can you tell on yours if it’s leaves tracks inside the wheel marks from the lawn mower or are they in the same track so you can’t see them?

Yea the reason I like the one I use is because I do not need to get off while backing up . But on hills I’m sure you might need to get off all of them. So your still walking behind all of them .

nice review man. how much was it. what is the wight limit. and does the new one have the run flats?

Thanks! I have bought them on their website as well as ebay. On ebay the item # is 231733869450. Currently at $274.99 or Make Offer and free shipping. On my old one I have had guys @ 290 pounds and it didn't have any issues. But this newer design is much beefier and is just a well built sulky. Shouldn't be a problem for even the big guys. Less moving parts too. My opinion the best out there. The tires are are tubeless but not flat free. Should have less issues as it is a better looking tire with a bigger bead to keep the seal. I plan on putting slime in my anyways as I have with all my tires. I filmed today with it in action on different terrians. Hopefully have that video up within a week? Thanks for watching

It's been a while since I've seen someone use one. For me my lawns are not always covered with grass. Grass, dirt, rocks. Seems like that plastic plate would have to be replaced more than I like. Even though having wheels and tires need to be replaced at some time. This new sulky, it looks like they have redesigned it for big riders in mind as well. . Chasing after a mower all day sucks...hope you find what your looking for.

I just purchase mine this week and to be honest I’m not to happy, very heavy and when you make a turn make sure the wheel don’t fall out of lawn because you could loose control(balance) easy. Also make sure you buy some weight brackets specially if own a lawn mower with the small deck like a 36”.

Hopefully it grows on you. I can't remember that far back when I first used it. It's really nice being able to go forward and backwards with ease. When I first started using my Vride compared to my pistol grips, it was weird. But now I love the controls of the vride. I had to get used to it. Yes, it is heavy. But very heavy duty too. Not fun if you have to take it on and off but if the trailer is big enough and able to leave it on, I'm happy.

This is very much the same as a Lesco sulkie !
In as far a sulkie not being recommended for belt drive mowers !
That depends totally on what machine you're talking about !
Not all mowers are created equal !

Very true. I finally got 2 stand ons. No more sulkys to mess with on the stand ons. Saves money and time. I do however still have my hydro scag walk behinds for the hills also when the ground is soft from the rains.
