I just made one like that but instead of having it pivot where you stand, I have the pivot where the hitch is instead and have it welded solid where you stand. And I also welded on a post between the wheels with a seat on it, so I can sit or stand if I like. I have mine behind my snowblower now, so it basically a riding snowblower! Works great!

About 12 years ago, I got a job building houses and learned how to build a house from the ground up. That is where most of it comes from, on top of my own curiosity to learn new skills and trades. Just lucky I guess.
Nice job but the platform you are standing on is doing a lot of twisting, this could be fixed fixing the drawbar solidly to the standing platform and have the vertical pivot at the mower end up close to your horizontal pivot.
I would highly suggest packing the pivot threads with some grease and covering the whole thing with a boot of some variety. Pretty sure that's gonna be the fail point when it does go.
interesting how you use threaded bolts and those long nuts for pivot points... i never saw this before...was this your own idea or have you seen it done before? also did you figure out most of this before you started or winged it? what was the total build time ? 10 hours ? thax
I don't think I have seen this idea before, but I had this idea rolling around in my head for weeks before I started. It took me a couple of evenings to do, probably 4 hours total.
Make the soul key without the back wheels. You bolted directly to the back of the lawn mower. It's still swivels where your feet is. The guy that has the other lawn mowers videos something to look at he has one. It's nice he doesn't have to worry about his ankles in his knees as much as you do with wheels
Curious to know what the longevity has been on the threaded pivot points? And approximately how many times a week it was used to get to whatever wear it has. Really nice build!
Is there any way you can put inflatable wheels on it? those might be really rigid. If you are on it long enough it could mess you up. But sweet fabrication man.
It really doesn't do any good to do it in time lapse photography because no one knows the exact dimensions of anything and the way you're doing otherwise I think it's a great idea can you use an old hand truck for making a sulky!!!!
As much as it is a beautiful sulky, it is a beautiful demonstration of craftmanship taking all things into account...great job

It's a 180v mig, but it can definitely be done with a flux core or arc welder.

Possibly. I did add a grease zert to keep it greased.
If you put better tires on there you would have something good. Thought about making more and selling them? I would buy one.

I only used it for about a year, several days a week. I bet it is still working good now.
