    Excellent information and awesome build. You have made a moderate priced kit look just as good as a oriental brass locomotive. I love doin that myself. Great work

    Great work Carl. Nice skills.

    Your rolling test is a great way to test after each addition. Trying to find the problem after it is complete is very difficult. I will have to use that in the future.

    this is an excellent group of videos . I just bought one of these kits and will be referring to them often . I was kinda hoping for a step by step of the dreaded valve gear riveting though

      Yeah, I wasn't looking forward to riveting either. As it turned out it wasn't too bad, taking my time and making sure parts were stacked the right way. Then stopping the hammer-tapping as soon as the parts were held enough to stay together and not fall apart. Getting it all installed so the parts didn't hit other stuff took some fiddling, too..... Good luck!

      @@CarlBrainerd had to peen some diecast crossheads n rods on a MDC kit and worked on my vintage PennLine K4's and H9's I hope I'm ready. 00-90 brass screws are fun

    Amazing work. I have a Nakamura shay HOn3 brass kit that is 85% done. Very inspirational to get mine completed.

      Yes, it is a good feeling to watch a pile of parts become "something". I was not aware of the Nakamura kit. I see they have one for sale at Brasstrains.com. Looks like quite a project! Good luck! If it wasn't narrow gauge I might be tempted, but pretty expensive. I do have an old MDC Shay kit (standard gauge) waiting in the closet.....

    Looks really smooth. How did you get the puffing sounds though??

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sound is coming from the Soundtraxx decoder which was hooked up and running on my decoder tester even though not yet installed in the loco.

    If you had an extra cab and added a few modifications, It would look like SRC (Ex-Reading) #4

    Respected sir do u have full drawings for these valve gear in this scale

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The instructions from Bowser for both the basic kit and the superdetail kit contain drawings showing the valve gear, although they may or may not be to scale. They can be found at 1drv.ms/b/s!Amh3E1S2P_vCg-h12Ul1tLEXABOUsQ?e=Vp1GdM and at 1drv.ms/b/s!Amh3E1S2P_vCg-h2y8OzPTGLzhFcuQ?e=6nlSkY.

      Thanks again for the awesome video. Perhaps in a future video you can show a step by step valve gear assembly?

    Very smooth build! Are you going to re-time the eccentric to 45° forward of the pin? It looks close to on top of the axle center with little valve rod movement seen.

    • @CarlBrainerd
      @CarlBrainerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I noted that. I have adjusted the eccentric cranks to lean forward an estimated 15 degrees per the instructions.. Still not much motion of the valve rod, but so be it.
