    I have a question which is out of this lecture and it's about tenses. You said" This mountain is called Mount Fuji". Why you're used (is) instead of (was) or why you didn't add (ing) to (call)?

    • @Vector_Ze
      @Vector_Ze 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mountain is STILL Mount Fuji. If the name had been changed, then you would say "This mountain was called Mount Fuji". IS is present tense, WAS is past tense.
      The question about called/calling is a bit harder to answer. But in the sentence in question, calling is correct.
      If you said, "The mountain is calling Mount Fuji', it would sound as though some unnamed mountain was trying to get the attention of Mount Fuji.

    • @CrownAcademyEnglish
      @CrownAcademyEnglish  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We write "sir" with a small "s" when the word is by itself (like in your sentence). We write "Sir" with a capital "S" when it is an official title of a real "Sir" (chosen by the Queen) Examples are Sir Elton John, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Andy Murray.

      +morenogris Hello and thanks for the comment and question.
      If it is a writing exam, then you will lose a lot of marks if you write all in capitals. For other exams, it depends on the specific rules and you should ask your teacher or examiner.

      Marwa Majdoub have been / has been is simply the *present perfect* tense of the verb "to be". Here are 2 videos which will help:
      1) th-cam.com/video/vLIJ9GfpuFc/w-d-xo.html
      2) th-cam.com/video/aVo83K-GwHc/w-d-xo.html
      For your other question, the question is too general and impossible to answer in a few lines. It is better to ask very specific questions with very specific examples :)

      +anthony smith You use all capital letters because you are incapable of rational thought. You are trying to insert yourself into an educated world and you are not in the least prepared or capable. You are a little dog begging at the adult table for scraps and you yell when you don't get what you want.

      +mblitch ahahaha OH WELL IF THATS ALL THEY CAN COME AT ME WITH THEN THE TRUTH IS PREVAILING.....SO THEY RE-DIRECT TOPIC TO SCARY LETTERS CAPS EWWWW

      anthony smith You make no sense. You are an uneducated tool. and because of your inadequate mental capacity, you make assumptions and create arguments of which only you in think you win. You have yet to write a single cohesive sentence. How does it feel to be such an academic joke to the world where the only abstract thoughts you can conceive are that you dug a hole in the ground and because someone paid you a few dollars to do it?

      Setayesh Bahar I don't really have specific advice for that but I think you need to keep studying and practising. Spelling improves with reading so try to read as much as possible in English. Good luck.

    I have another grammatical error to point out, for those of you guys that type "Like This Capitalizing Every Single Word You Type," why is it that some people capitalize every single word they type?

    • @CrownAcademyEnglish
      @CrownAcademyEnglish  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree that is a very annoying habit that some people have. It makes it very hard to read!
      Thanks for your comment.

    Using Mrs. for women should not be taught anymore; it is outdated. It is Ms. for all women. Never make a distinction if she is married or not.
