  • It's time to attach the mk3 brake booster and master cylinder to the brake pedal, and get hard lines done on the 1975 Rabbit.
    Good progress, and rewarding to get the brakes all wrapped up and ready to fill with fluid.

    Perfect video for me at the moment, just finished up my own 16v brake swap and was debating on a mk3 booster setup. Thanks

      Glad it helped- another option is to thread the rod from the brake booster instead of welding. Cut the bulb and thread the end, then trim as needed. Suggested in the burn all the mk1s group on fb.

    Clever idea using the magnet to hold everyone straight when welding

    The soft rear lines. ( the correct one) Can you give the serial code. Also what rear callipers did you use and what hand brake cables did you use.

    12:10 Can you help me out, which master cylinder port goes to which wheel? I am told right side goes to front wheels, left side 2 ports goes to rear wheels?

    Not sure if you are reading and responding to comment on your older videos. Hope you could help me. My neighbor is taking apart Jetta 2.0 2001 automatic and offered me free parts if I could use anything for my Cabrio 86. Wondering if you know if I could use brake booster and any other parts of the brake system from Jetta. Thanks.

      Not sure that too many mk4 parts are interchangeable like the mk3/2 /1 cars are. Things really changed with the mk4 platform.

      I would suggest that you stick with mk2-3/early passat servo/mc upgrade, those were made to work with that generation of brake systems.
      Jumping to an mk4 system would be an overkill. MK4s come with an even bigger MC and you have to remember, ALL of the mk4s came with ABS. Trying to go an extra mile is good, but this step with set you back. I doubt such a brake upgrade would be needed or if your stock braking system will even survive it.
      Do the main stream stuff, write ups and guides are easy to find for the these because it just works, and easy enough to pull of for most people.

      @@oleksandrben9970 Valid points to think about Ben, I was also thinking myself what to do with the ABS, it would be nice upgrade but do not know yet how complicate would be since i can get free all components. Is there option just to delete ABS?

    Can I please ask you for some help? I would really like to know the distance from the centerline of the back wheels to the vertical wall behind the front seats. Thanks!

      I'll try and get that for you this week. Are you referring to the rear edge of the floorpan where it turns up to the rear seat?

    • @zocke
      @zocke 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's exactly what I mean. It would be great since I i haven't been able to find that dimension anywhere online.

      @@zocke I went out a few minutes ago and eyeballed it. Roughly 79.5cm. Held the tape against the vertical, and then tapered out slightly to the hub center. If you need it spot on, let me know, I can setup some stuff to get it exact.

      Not necessary. I am grateful for your help and your time for this.
