    • @waynelewis9110
      @waynelewis9110 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AIAddict Fair enough. Hopefully they use NACS. CCS1 is trash compared to CCS2 and NACS. CCS1 is also heavily associated with unreliable charging. It would do them well to adopt NACS for the North American market to take advantage of Tesla’s SC network long term. They could also build their own NIO Power chargers at a lower cost since the NACS connector fails less, is way smaller, has less parts and take less material to manufacture.
      As a cherry on top, it would make for good PR, as a new car maker from China using the North *American* Charging Standard could have a positive effect on their public perception here. Looking forward to NIO’s inevitable formal entrance to the North American market!

    • @cruiser97eric1
      @cruiser97eric1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@waynelewis9110 With Tesla committed to opening its network to CCS vehicles in the USA I think we will find that CCS charging can be as reliable as NACS currently is. IMO the company operating the charging network has a much bigger impact on reliability than the charging port used by the network. Tesla has very reliable CCS2 chargers in Europe and I expect they will have very reliable CCS1 chargers in the USA too.

    • @HermanWillems
      @HermanWillems ปีที่แล้ว

      You do know that NIO does not build or make batteries themselves. And that if NIO can get any battery that does that, so can other EV makers. U do understand this right? Even Tesla uses it's own batteries + CATL + LG + Panasonic + more brands in their cars. Because they can't produce enough themselves.

    • @chucktownfinest
      @chucktownfinest ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Aerism Yeah, I know that Nio does not make their own batteries. The article I read that day mentioned the company that Nio reached out to make the battery, and they made it. That is why I say the 600+ battery will be obsolete when Nio reaches the US. If the technology is good, the others will find a way to make it.

    I don’t recall if he answered the question about Battery swapping profitability. They give mostly free swaps so this is costing a fortune

    • @HermanWillems
      @HermanWillems ปีที่แล้ว

      Learn about CAPEX and OPEX and you will know that the battery swap system is extremely expensive to implement and also extremely expensive to maintain. (Lots of moving parts) And it requires a lot of FTE (full time employees) to keep it all running. Even if they ask money for it, the price will be high for the consumers.
      For example my expenses on electricity is 40 euro's in Netherlands per month and that is dirt cheap for high energy prices here. (But this is a very efficient Tesla.) And i drive around 15.000 km per year.

    The ET7 you did was great it looks like you had a blast driving it and I think NOMI will be really popular in the North American market. I am excited about your upcoming ET5 and EC6 review, is there a Battery Swap Station at the San Jose R&D NIO Head Office? $NIO

    • @AIAddict
      @AIAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      San Jose R&D does have the battery swap hardware on site - however with bureaucracy and city planning there is an approximate wait time of 1 year before they can power it on.
      The main issue is that the building they plan to have it operate in does not have any power from the city and they are awaiting the power grid to be permitted and installed.

    • @charlesd9949
      @charlesd9949 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AIAddict That is super frustrating, I am actually upset by this. How can a country change it'ys energy needs at this rate, 1 year for one R&D power swap station. American & Canada need to accelerate if we want to be on the world stage.

    • @AIAddict
      @AIAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@charlesd9949 I fully agree and none of the fault lands on Nio surprisingly. Mostly city planners.
      In a recent interview with Rivian CEO, he mentioned they plan to open 3,500 Rivian Adventure Network Charging Stations (similar to Tesla super charger).
      In that interview, he states that 95% of the time to install a charger is getting city permits. He says because of this, it can take an average of 180 days to approve a site, but only take 3 days to build the site.
      This permit issue has been Rivians biggest challenge as well
      Additionally, I recently sat down with the CEO of the power grid here in Santa Clara County, he assured me they have no idea how to balance the grid and they have been under powering the grid for 3 years now and the infrastructure is too old to keep up with modern demand but they don’t have the money to upgrade it.

    • @chiefrocka1363
      @chiefrocka1363 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AIAddictQin Lihong mentioned the same about Europe, that since it's something new that permitting is long at first, but as they get used to this type of site it would get quicker.

    • @HermanWillems
      @HermanWillems ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chiefrocka1363 Tesla has a trick in the Netherlands. We have a hotel branch called "Van Der Valk" and they always have PERFECT spots. And Tesla just collaborated with them and used their parking spots to fill every hotel in Netherlands with their charging systems. It's a win win for both. Tesla is just SMARTER than other brands. That's why they make money, and others do not. They practically got THE BEST SPOTS FOR FREE. Without any "city planner" issues.
      Back to Nio: Nio it's swap station in Netherlands is on a VERY BAD SPOT. People working at Nio are dumb as hell.

    Why did Nio hire an Indian?! Do people know that India invaded and is still occupying South Tibet since 1951? India annexed Tawang, South Tibet in Feburary 1951. Tawang is the Sixth Dalai Lama's birthplace and home to the four hundred years old Tawang monastery. The flag of the Republic of China was flying high in Tawang until the place was gobbled by India. In 1987 India made the area a state and renamed it to the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. Today India is trying to solve its territorial dispute with China by pushing the US and China into a war.
