Got myself a W201 from 1986, with some extra parts like a fifth gear. I bought him chrap, invested in a big service and some mainteneance and now he's driving like.. yeah almost like a new car. Fascinating. Nearly 40 years old and still a good car for daily driving.

Still an amazing car with the usability of a good daily. Also own a 1990 190E with 2.0 and 4 speed manual in 199 black, but the 118hp engine with cat.
One of the best cars and after investing a bit money into the KE Jetronic and few other parts, really cheap to drive. A car which I will never sell.

@@Audriakashey! I have a 91' 2.3 with a 5 speed swap. Can definitely say it is a joy to drive. I've owned a few fun, and much more powerful cars but the 190e is still my favorite. It gets good gas mileage, I haven't had to do any repairs on it besides regular maintenance. I've put a full coilover kit on it and it handles like a dream. If you have the chance to pick up a stick shift you'll never regret it.

I daily a 5 speed 190D 2.5. Best commuter one could ask for. 40 mpg, comfortable, smooth and quiet.

I’m currently looking for a 190E with 4 speed manual like the one in the video. Do you think it needs an extra gear, or does it already feel sufficient?
4 Gears usually are enough for you to even pass 200km/h. The gears for any speed are seperated accordingly. Though it still is weird with only 4.
Me to but what year is the one you are looking on? Because i dont know if is a 5 speed or 4 speed it is an 1988 190e
4 speed is no problem, but 5 speed is most definitely prefered. 5 speed was optional on the 190E from 2 liter down to the 1.8, meanwhile the 2.3 and everything above got 5 speed stock.
Its important to mention that the 4 speed is super long geared, so you wont have any problems with higher revs at higher speeds. The long gears get real techical though at lower speeds, being that you kinda have to be in the correct gear in order to not stall out. dont be afraid to use first gear at intersections.
Rev matching is a must at faster downshifts, but you can easily just slowly work the clutch too. These mercedes transmissions are super relaxed and natural to work.
Also have the 190E with 4 speed manual, a masterpiece still after more than 31 years. I can really recommend the 4 speed, there is no need to get 5 speed. The 5 speed gearbox is known to like to hang, the 4 speed is more comfortable.
With overhauled KE Jetronic, new injectors and new set up of the whole system, the car needs around 8-9 liters per 100km.

I'm about to buy the same model as my first car, the only differences being the colour (mine's is a grey-ish beige with the painted bumpers.), no sunroof, steel rims with the wheel caps. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm that maniac. Drove a beaten 1992 one through off road fields while drunk, beat the shit out of it that night. Suddenly, the wheel got stiff, the engine was at red line temperature, smoke coming out of it and what not. Turned out, the cooler came off, hit the belt and got it out of place, which made the power steering and cooling not work. My mechanic told me, with any other newer car, and the distance you drove with red line temps, you'd be heading to the junkyard. The guy just fixed the belt and the cooler in place and bang, car goes like new. Damn.

Świetna fura, kiedy byłem mały myślałem że ten model to młodszy odpowiednik W124 bo są one bardzo do siebie podobne, jednak poza wyglądem karoserii oraz faktem że oba samochody projektował Bruno Sacco niewiele mają ze sobą wspólnego.
Mam pytanie. Pewna osoba powiedziała mi kiedyś, że w 1998r wyszło 300szt modelu 190. Jestem ciekaw czy to prawda, jest ktoś w stanie to potwierdzić? Albo gdzie mógłbym znaleźć takie informacje

wir werden im Frühjahr unseren 190 E 2,6 (166 PS, 6-Zylinder) verkaufen. Er läuft toll, hat richtig Power, aber hier in Italien passt er einfach nicht. Schon 2 Werkstätten (die mit unseren Alfa Giulia, Alfa Duetto, Lancia Fulvia etc. super arbeiten) sind daran gescheitert, die Zündkerzen zu wechseln....nach dem Wechsel springt er einfach nicht mehr an....Eingentlich schade, aber es soll wohl nicht sein - dabei ist er (fast) rostfrei, weil bei uns die Gemeinden kein Geld für Streusalz haben....

Idle speed is much too high. And that is a very problematic (costly) thing to fix on those cars....
