  • "Now I would like to invite you to meet THE DIMASH'S IDOL, who is considered like The Fourth Element of All Time Vocal Trinity (with Whitney, Mariah and Celine) and one of the Best Female Singers of the World...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world..."
Thank you so much to Romier López for writing the previous to me in an email. I want to pay homage to you really quick to say that this was a lovely song that I LOVED listening to and reacting to.

Exactly, it's all the little tins that make the big difference for me, in terms of Lara and pretty much all the other artists / musicians / singers.
She is humble and grateful when she finishes her song, she immediately gives her musicians a thank you, her pianist, the one she has sung duet with always gets a hug and she seems genuinely happy that the audience claps and acknowledges her preformance. And the way her concerts are produced, when we see them, she is very careful to show all the musicians who are on stage, including her backing singers. She's not afraid to look ugly if the song demands it. She is completely free and herself.
Thanks for this great analysis ❤
    Love Lara ❤

    More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
    She is Dimash's idol:
I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara.
Out of my mind I can list:
    ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer),
    ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer),
    ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version)
    ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know")
She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love".
And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara.
Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration:
    ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie),
    ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow),
    ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow),
    ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime),
    ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow)
    ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know),
    ○ Il Divo (Adagio)
    ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you),
    ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow)
    ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso),
    ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie),
    ○ Amir (Je t’aime),
    ○ Vitas (Adagio),
    ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio),
    ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio),
    ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade),
    ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade),
    ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio)
    ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio),
    ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow),
    ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you)
    ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime)
    ○ ....
NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version.
Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature.
In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular.
On April 23 2023 she had again a wonderful concert in Tbilissi, Georgia
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version.
She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during is own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone.
Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on.
The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal)
    th-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/w-d-xo.html
is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic

This is some wonderful history and knowledge. Thank you so much for sharing this, Eric! I imagine that this song, in general, has to be *very* strategically placed in the setlist, because of how emotionally taxing it seems to be to actually learn it at such an intimate level that Lara learns it.

False ! Lara was already very famous. Her song "je t'aime" was known and loved in France. I didn't like it so much at that time. She had a very strong voice but, to me, she didn't control it. She came back a few month later and I almost didn't recognize her voice. It was so full of emotion, incredible accuracy. She was finaly this wonderfull singer that she is now. I won't never believe when I heard her the first time that she'll make me cry. An exceptional talent 💜

      @@rabanmartine3902 you are wrong:
She performed je suis malade on tv shows in quebec in 1994. She was invited by Serge Lama in january 1995 to sing it.
Tout and Je t’aime were released in the album Pure in 1996.
Double Check your data before challenging others, please.
If you mean she was already famous in France when she performed this From Lara With Love concert then you are right.
My point was she was unknown in France when Serge inivited her.

Lara Fabian was born gifted with such a talent for singing. PLUS, she was very well trained by the best opera teachers from Belgium and Italy, but she decided to sing pop songs, she also has the knowledge to sing in operatic way, she studied from her 8 to 18 at the Belgium Conservatory of Music (there she learned Bel Canto, piano [she composes her own songs on piano), she started singing professionaly at the age of 15, in 1985, her first video clipe came when she turned 16, in 1986 and her first world wide albilum was releaseat the begin of 1990. Then since 1998 she kept having vocal lessons with her Italian teacher untill nowdays, she has two vocal teachers (From Belgium and Italy) and she keeps having vocal lessons at least 3 times per week on-line. Lara also workz as a vocal coach on The Voice Canada, she already worked as the vocal coach at the Star Academy program in France from 2004 /2008. Please react to Lara Fabian - Llora live in Kremlin 2010 (Llora means cry in English). She speaks fluently and composes in 4 languages (English, Spanish, Italian and French), but she is able to speak and understand a little bit of Russian, Dutch and Portuguese, she already sang live in 12 languages.

BTW the Italian version of Adagio is so much better than the version in english where the lyrics had to be changed to fit the melody, but the rhythm, cadence and rhymes are so much better in italian. GREAT STUFF! - LARA (not Laura) Fabian (Fabyanne) with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian (Québécoise) of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara studied piano, composition, and voice at a Brussels Conservatory for a decade. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans four octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, creates a high emotional connection with the listener. She has a discography of over 400 songs, has sold over 30 million records, and plays at sold-out venues worldwide. She lives with her husband and daughter in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A “50 at 50” - fifty live performances celebrating her 50th birthday had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 and was rescheduled as “The Best of Lara.”
I’m a ‘fan’ because of her high level ‘EQ’ (emotional intelligence) expressed in the text of her songs.
La raison pour laquelle je suis un « fan » de Lara Fabian est son « QE » élevé, qu’elle exprime dans le texte de ses chansons.

    @trentt5310 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wait you saw it before reacting? People usually like seeing someone’s first reaction. I understand watching it first may help you give an analysis. I understand you’re not just a reactor but a vocal coach as well it looks like. But personally it makes me not wanna watch the video without your emotional connection and only the analytical side happening. I would of rather seen you take in the performance yourself, then give an analysis, even with pausing.
Going through your other videos I see that’s just not your style. I understand. Just letting you know why I’m personally turned away from this.
Maybe a solution would be to record your initial reaction as one video and have an analysis stripped down vocal as another video or simply as the second part of the video.
As much as I agree with what you’ve said, without seeing your emotional connection I don’t have any reason to care. You said “everyone that has a heart can feel this performance”
Too bad I didn’t get to see your heart moved by the performance, only an analysis. Bummer.

That's really interesting to hear, Trent. Being involved some behind the scenes Production HIGHLY does not let me trust any person saying they are having a "first reaction." They might be great actors, which I know has a place and can appreciate.
However, I definitely acknowledge and realize I slip in and out of being a part of the performance and then find straight to my analyzing brain and how well it is written on my own face as I'm thinking of vocal pedagogy, voice placement, do I agree that it was a correct representation of the emotional integrity, etc. I COMPLETELY feel you on that.
I don't want to waste someone's time as I'm prepping to even see if this reaction is worth my time or others watching. I'm going to see if I can bridge the gap a bit more in my limited time that I have (I have 2 very young kids and am already asleep deprived, lol😅) and 💯 will take your suggestions into consideration. I TOTALLY see what you are saying here, I believe that the point you are making is if someone did sing it in English, one would have to have the same dramatic effect by changing the lyrics and not approach it as a literal translation. Which would, indeed, change the song.
That said, the ONE thing that is certain, Emotional and Honest singing is her point, here.
I think you gave me an idea. What if we did an experiment where any word could be sung in the English language, but the pure, honest emotional intent was intact for what the song is supposed to represent. What would happen? Would we not even worry about the languafe and strictly only concentrate on the way the song made us feel? Kind of how just an instrumental done right could make us laugh, cry, happy, sad, etc? Maybe to that point we COULD sing it in English.

@@FindaWaytoSINGLara has several songs sang in different versions, iin different languages. At the end of my comment I'll put examples. It's hard to not lost something when you translate, but you shouldn't assume that if a person speaks English can't understand Italian. I'm not anglophone not italian and I understand both. Besides that listen to melody of a voice singing in a language you don't understand isn't the same: I enjoy arabic and hebrew music and I don't speak any of those languages. There's a pathos in the human voice that it's incomparable to melody coming from other instrument. Do you know that was Carl Orff who considered himan voice as an instrument?! 😊

@@vervideosgiros1156 I see why it came off that way. I know that. There are some words in some languages that can't be translated the same in the same manner or cultural referenced the same way. Thank you for suggesting what you did here. Those are absolute gems!

This is not the original. It has had the music stripped so that it sounds a Cappella. Stopping every few seconds to interpret the song and what how she is singing it makes you feel like he thinks we are complete idiots.

Chris, I'm so sorry that I made you believe that I was talking down to you. I really just wanted to not let any of those moments pass by without throwing tribute to where it was due. And I'm honestly going to do this with all of my reactions. I hope that you know that it is just to have the utmost respect to the artist and I hope that you are able to find a vocal coach that is more of your style who lets it play more. I appreciate your comments and spending time to share your feelings, Chris. Much love to you.

Your 'comment' is downright idiotic..so, what does that tell us about its author ?

@@FindaWaytoSINGDon't listen to people and do what you do, the way you do. If people just want to hear her, they should watch the original video and that's that. Same goes to those who just want to watch a peraon just crying/" crying", not adding a thing.

She is the real beast live. Her performances from the same concert as this song are insane!

My friend, I like your video and how well you explained everything. Could you please tell me what program you use to turn off the musicians and leave only the solo voice? Like in this video, where only Lara's voice is heard. Thanks in advance and best wishes. Best regards!
