Ages 25-40: You are here because of GTA SA. Ages 40+ You are here because of Buck Rogers Space Rockers Everyone else You are here because TH-cam's suggestion algorithm finally put up some good sh*
Uhhhhhh.... I'm 43, and my first time hearing Odyssey was in GTA:SA in 2005. (It took me awhile to get to the Cesar Vialpando mission because I went to England several days after Christmas.)
This song has been laying dormant in my DNA since I was like 10 yrs old watching Buck Rogers ( when it was originally aired ). Then picked up again playing San Andreas. Then back into the ether of my brain. Now once more reactivated. I have literally now listened 8 times in a row. Dig part 2 but in part 1 my dude is GOING for it hard on that synth. Keys mustve melted right off bro!
Absolutely a convergence of FUNK, DISCO, ROCK and a totally synth guitar sound synonymous with the fade out of DISCO music. Totally weird, totally funky. TOTALLY awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a seminal tune. Has the DNA that led to Piano House Music, trance music and a lot of other EDM. I too heard it in the 80s watching a repeat of Buck Rogers 'Space Rockers'. Loved it then and love it now.
The dislikes probably came from the future. I know there was a band that played this, then people tried to attack them, only to be beaten back by Buck Rogers.
@@NK47k here in Brazil we don't listen this kind of music, but we know this thanks the GTA SA game for it. And a lot of good songs we only know by movies or background of anything
Yep, watch this. th-cam.com/video/xviX1aISFTo/w-d-xo.html You will find Odyssey at 13 minutes 34 seconds if you want to skip ahead but Retroblasting shows are pretty good so you might just want to watch the whole thing, especially if you are unfamiliar with the 1979 Buck Rogers TV show.
Ah, BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY, "Space Rockers", Andromeda, Karana (Nancy Frangione) - I don't know if that shake was for the kids, but I knew a lot of kids who appreciated it. Just sayin'.
The synth type is literally the title of the song. Arp Odyssey is the synth. Yes two oscillators set to sawtooth waveform and one is tuned a perfect fourth below the first one. Thats the sound you first hear the lead synth.

Thank you!
Love the old Buck Rogers - Space Rockers episode !
That synth player is definitely the Slipknot or Slayer version of soloist. This is MANDATORY for all pro synth players to listen to!!!
slipknot or slayer??? that's fucking bullshit
@@angelmontoya3433 yeah slayer's riffs are good but the solos sound like drill assaulting your eardrums lol
Buck Roger's! Havent heard this in a bit, still got the episode on tape! Oh, and down the road ,San Andrea's too
Lets bounce, Homey!
I could fly choppers to this music all day long. :D
"Ohh that shit was aaall right, AHHH!"
Who would dislike this!? Straight 🔥
Kids who didn't know they had to use numpad for lowrider controls instead of the arrow keys or WSAD.
The dislikes probably came from the future. I know there was a band that played this, then people tried to attack them, only to be beaten back by Buck Rogers.
Its Andromeda from Buck Rogers

Anyone got a clue what synth he's using for the lead? Sounds effing dope
Minimoog is my guess. And if so then the lead is being done with only two oscillators with the other being used for vibrato.
The synth type is literally the title of the song. Arp Odyssey is the synth. Yes two oscillators set to sawtooth waveform and one is tuned a perfect fourth below the first one. Thats the sound you first hear the lead synth.

I would like to think it was Johnny Harris of CBC Murdoch Mysteries. But he would need to be about 65.
Which studio and year was this recorded in, please?
From Wikipedia:
1980 : "Odyssey" (Pt 1) / "Odyssey" (Pt 2), Sunshine Sound Records SSD 4216
Hi, this seems to be the Record Label and Release date:

Cheers.
I'm here for a lowrider meet.
What’s the slower version of this song that says “sunshine”?
This sounds so vice cityish
it's because it uses synth, this song was in San Andreas
