LoS 1 and 2, especially 2 have seriously been underrated in all aspects. But the music especially has been overlooked... the music was SO hauntingly beautiful. Regal, sad, hopeful, full of despair... it captured so much emotion and really helped make the LoS games real.
"What is a man... But a pitiful pile of secrets !" I Just love this theme. While I can't say that the LOS serie is my favorite, I have to admit that this Dracula is far more interresting (and tragic) than the One of the Old serie. At least, we truly know and see why he became what he is. What is actually REALLY sad is the fact that the time he has lost with his family can never be taken back. His son is now an adult vampire who don't need him anymore and while both did make peace with each other, millenia of hatred and pain cannot be forgotten like that. His wife's body is now dust, wich mean that he can't even try to bring her back as a vampire and can only see her in his mind's castle (wich he actually left if my memories are exact). The world he knew is completely destroyed and remplaced with something completely unknown. Yeah, he and Alucard won against evil at last, but the price was particulary high... And Something tells me that their pain is far from over. Zobek died, yeah, but in a way, he actually won : the Belmont Family and the brotherhood of light are now completely destroyed after all, beside two vampires and these two lost almost everything in their victory, beside themselves. I just wonder if there will be another game... And what will happen in it.
+Jokester6293 >Erf... Unfortunately, you're right. It''s sad : I played almost every Castlevania beside Curse of Darkness, but the LOS serie is my second favorite behind the very first. I would have be happy to see another episode but, oh well... I will also miss Metal gear from Konami, but i had a lot more of fun with castlevania
I know this is a year old. But how is this Dracula more tragic? Dracula devotes himself to god, and in return his wife dies. So he swears to defy god by becoming immortal, and in the Process, causes the Death of his best friends wife, and for his best friend to dedicate not only his life, but his ''entire' bloodline to killing Dracula, and people like him. Dracula creates his castle, and for several years doesn't even do much. He even lets in others who have turned their back on god, or had god turn his back to them. Despite everything he was still a somewhat good person. Then Lisa comes. Someone who's almost a mirror image of the wife he lost. He falls in love all over again, only to have god take this love away from him to, or the Catholic church in this case, and in a far more violent way than before. And in swearing revenge against humanity, he turns the only person he cares about against him. Alucard sides with the Belmonts, and after killing him is unable to bare commiting patricide and basically puts himself into a coma, throwing away his life 'because' of Dracula. Only to be forced out of it when no Belmont arrives to stop Dracula from being resurrected. And after being bested by his son 'again' he asks what Lisa's final words were, and what were they? To not take revenge on humanity. Everything he had done went against the love of his life's last wishes, and now due to the corruption and evil humanity is capable of, he is resurrected every hundred years, evil, and constantly going against her last wish. Old Dracula shits all over this one when it comes to being tragic.
I just love a good vampire game and this one was in my opinion a unique vanpire game. Took a nice spin on a vampires powers and how they worked, not on just Gabriels but also on Trevors powers in the dlc. And the music was just hauntingly beatiful
I admit Lords of Shadow 2 wasn't the "epic conclusion" Konami promised us to Gabriel Belmont's story. It could have been a lot better, true, had it not been for certain factors during development. But as the saying goes, life is about the journey, not the destination. For me, it was an experience seeing Gabriel's story unfold and witnessing him rise, fall, and rise again. Whatever people might think of Konami today or years from now, I thank them for allowing me to share that journey with Gabriel.
Okay, well, LoS 2 had those awful stealth sections, but pretty much everything else about the game was amazing. I still don't get why all the hatred. It was an improvement on the original and was also different enough for the original to stay relevant. LoS feels like and adventure, while LoS 2 is a dark gothic story about a confused man, exploring his own inner demons, so the metroidvania style of gameplay and free camera movement fits it much more. Even though I like gameplaywise LoS 1 more, and storywise LoS 2 more, I think they're almost equally good.
at some points(not at all points) it can be interpreted that the forced camera angle on LoS 1 is because we are watching Gabriel Belmont from Zobek's point of view because he does watch him on his journey throughout the whole game. so We are watching the game on Zobek's point of view.
as playing over the first LoS again and thought about it. It also bothered me less because I normally hate forced to be unable to move my screen. Also I thought that Gabriel's hatred and questioning towards the brotherhood of Light was also made by the scrolls or journals found on the bodies of the members of the brotherhood a lot of them question their faith and the brotherhood and how most where sent to their deaths in an impossible task for most. It had an influence over his change over the course of the game. However I believe it's a minor influence of course.
Castlevania: Lord Of Shadows 1 e Castlevania: Lord Of Shadows 2 - Comparações: Jogabilidade - Castlevania: LoS 2 vence. Gráfico - Castlevania: LoS 2 vence. História - Castlevania: LoS 1 vence. Ambiente - Castlevania: LoS 1 vence. Combate - Castlevania: LoS 2 vence. Diversão - Castlevania: LoS 2 vence. Personagens - Castlevania: LoS 1 vence.
I prefer Masashi Hamauzu's score in FF7 Dirge of Cerberus. I kinda wish Hamauzu would have scored it actually. This score sounds too textbook.. good orchestration, but the harmonies are still very basic. Hamauzu is still on a whole other level.

true. these games deserve some reward. and population
Still waiting for curse of darkness remake, would be awesome in ps5. But konami is givin up castelvania and silent hill
Agreed
1:05 always kept waiting in the main menu to hear this part. Truly magnificent.
This game is so nostalgic. I never realized how much I loved these games until playing it again just nowy
i did too.
´´why you have been hiding here.... Gabriel?´´
´´DONT CALL ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!´´
"Don't you dare call me that" , "Eu sunt Dracul".
"What do You want?...Old friend."

"The evil will prevail"
Uma das melhores musicas sinistras...

he narrates as if he were there watching. of course at some points it isn't applicable but. it makes the forced camera angles more tolerable.
+A.J. Rivera it's a possible theory btw
A.J. Rivera wow, that's a pretty cool perspective, I've never thought about it!

Who's the composer of this beautiful song????
The legendary spanish composer Oscar Araujo
@@lohanalves791 Being significantly (not entirely) Spanish, this makes me proud tbh.
Nostalgia
Thank you.
The best game of konami
Did Howard Shore compose the score to the first and second game? Because they sound very Lord of the Rings ish.
I might be crazy, but didn't the Netflix series MindHunter use this song for its opening?
Best video game music ever! But after SKYRIM :)
which one? dovahkiin theme?
