Agreed, now I like the movie, I was surprised cause I dont care for Stewart in anything but this lol, but despite his size, its gonna take more than what we humans have to shut down Cthulhu, AND if it had been Cthulhu and had woken, rain would have fell form the skies bringing spawns of things not of our world down onto us, invading the very water we need to survive. Changing humans from the inside out. Humans would birth new horrors rather than children, there'd be flying creatures eating half of the survivors who were far enough to avoid the endless torrent of tsunami's and earthquakes as, he who slept but is now awake, stepped over mountains and crushed our armies and our cities. While nearly everyone who hears the screams of madness that erupt over the land has their minds cracked and broken. Humans attack their loved ones and deface themselves. Morphous things from other dimensions crawl out from the earth beneath our feet, people see a new color that has never been a part of the light spectrum of our reality, boring through their psyche and changing them forever as all of our technology corrodes and becomes useless. All within the first few days. If you wanted to kill Cthulhu, you'd probably have to drop the Moon on him. but then ya gotta worry about the other Great Old Ones that might awaken..... if he was to fall.
The Force Awakens (episode 7) ain't even that bad, sure it wasn't the best but neither was Attack Of The Clones but the prequels are fine, episode 8 and 9 were the really bad ones, a whole lot of things went into the destruction of star wars but really he was only a minor one

@ common misconception. Alot of the lovecraft wiki/fandom used incorrect terminology th-cam.com/video/YLZjtosvBfU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6IV0OS89txSbKzl_ Cuthulu is an other God born of the Void
Okay so a few points from a lovecraft fan who read most of his mythos: -Cthulhu was knocked out by a fishing boat that rammed into his head. An explosion could rock his shit, but couldn't kill him. It's questionable how he works on a physical level but power scaling him isnt an easy task. -Cthulhu is mostly psychically powerful, but the madness he causes is a graded curve (just like all Great Old Ones). The madness he causes is something that can be resisted if you have a strong enough will, which I would argue the protagonist was shown to have in spades. -Dagon and Cthulhu are both Great Old Ones, not Outer Gods, and they're roughly equal in terms of what they can do. -Those "Deep Ones" are not Deep Ones, they're Starspawn of Cthulhu which are both his children and his worshippers. Deep Ones are descendants of Dragon specifically, and serve a similar role as the Starspawn (with the added weirdness that they can procreate with humans). -Godzilla and Kong are questionable if they could take Cthulhu. You'd have to determine the rough intelligence of both Kaiju.
Gz and Kong dissapear from existence if you destroy their 3D form, doing that same thing to Cthulhu would mildly in convenience him if he even has the concept or smth going wrong😂
Adding to that, what the boat hit wasn't actually the true form of cthulhu but the fleshy avatar the starspawn created for him so his mind could enter our plane of existence. He's technically always around, but what he can influence depends on the people who are near the city and how strong their willpower is
The director tried so hard to push this thing as Cthulhu, but didn't lay a good enough foundation. I don't see it as an Old One but I see it inspiring the Old Ones myth in that universe. I don't think it's alive but I think there are more of them hidden in the ocean
Fun fact, Cthulhu doesn't actually make people go mad from his presence/from looking at him. That's essentially just a thing that people associate with him now but, it's not noted as something he can do in any of the books. Also, the term "outer gods" is a fan term. The real term is "Other Gods". Definitely not as cool but, the mythos is still quite insane.
true, but the average man would probably go mad seeing half the horrors that are spawns of him, worshippers of him, or associated with him. That and his presence alone would probably drive you mad because the human psyche isnt made to observe/perceive literal gods and thats what Cthulhu is, an old god
I’m not sure why people believe in a giant octopus with arms and think that it’s real and going to destroy the world and judgement day is going to be the war between heaven and hell not some over grown octopus
@@zachloomis5870 your confusing a story with a religion, Cthulhu comes from a series written by H.P Lovecraft, but ig if you wanna get technical the whole religion of Christianity’s based off a story too
Funny enough, when I saw this film, I immediately assumed the massive creature was Dagon from Dagon and Shadow over Innsmouth both by HP Lovecraft. Or at least a homage to those books and Lovecraft God. It being Cthullu was mind blowing, not because him awakening would drive everyone mad beyond functionality… But because the monster was too *small.* Cthullu is three to five times the size of that thing. Also Cthullu is *NOT* a god or Great Old One. He only comes off as one because we can’t comprehend the Gods’ power. He’s just the entity playing nanny until the gods come back. Cthullu to the Gods, is like comparing a human to Cthullu. It’s that insane in the lovecraft mythos.
Well there is that, that if it wakes up, all of Reality just goes poof. So, that gives an idea! An actual Call of Cthulhu movie could be so epic! At least if it were done right!
Bro, when I seen this movie, I seen the monster as 'Cthulhu', too. It's like the director ran with the South Park episodes, that showed BP oil awakening Cthulhu, while deep sea drilling...and just ran with it, and perfectly so.

It's called underwater and it was underrated, I went into the cinema thinking, don't really wanna watch this, as there was practically nothing else to watch at the time, I left thinking, money well spent, so much so I went and watched it again with my brother!
Cathulu's scaling technically applies to his higher dimensional form. The monster we see in the movie is, at most, a projection, like gea in Rick Riordans' Heroes of Olympus. She could make a ghostly form from dirt, even when she still slept. In her sleep, she was heavily weakened. She had a few tricks, but nothing too potent, compared to her might when awake, implied to be capable of moving the entire planets surface to end all life on the planet, exept for those she chose to spare.
This movie was pure entertainment. Literal nonstop action from start to finish. If there’s ONE movie made in the modern era that actually hit the nail right on the head, it was underwater. It’s definitely a rare gem.

Are you talking about the search for a recovery of the soviet nuclear submarine? The cover story by the CIA had been NASA and other groups were doing deep sea research while it was all to get the sub.
Searching the ocean is entirely more difficult than space. That's what they realized. There's a whole lot of nothing down there. In reality, she could have been struggling against nothing, or perhaps even harming herself without realizing it.
UNDERWATER is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE creature Features. Another REALLY GOOD MOVIE that came out that year that no one knows about is "THE CURSED" werewolf movie.
Underwater is great. One of the few disaster movies where all the characters cooperate and help each other, which is a nice change. Likeable characters and cool action and there's a lot of artsy camera shots that elevate the film without being annoying. Super underappreciated movie ⭐️
I saw this movie. Underwater is really good. Kristen and whole cast were great. It literally was like a bit of classic horror. You don't the big bad scare but it is there...and is revealed at end. The little creatures are like distraction.
In Underwater, even before they see any creatures, several members of the team have their minds start slipping. Also, Kirsten's character was wearing glasses at the beginning of the film, but loses them early on, so she might have been saved from instant madness by being nearsighted.
I adored this movie. A lovecraftian horror movie with a giant kaiju monster. It's a watered down version of C'thulu but still a massive kaiju with fish monster minions. And they do look vaguely similar to the Cloverfield Monster. I like the conspiracy. I'd love more of these things. We have a company like a cult that adores and wants to bring up C'thulu. Going into a Lovecraftian adjacent film like this. Please, a little more. And it could maybe be C'thulu as we know just not fully awakened? I'm glad you're appreciating this film
Wasn't this touched on in the film..."Cabin in the Woods:? I agree..this movie is greatly under rated. Hard to find at Walmart or Target...This film gives off that sort of "the Myst" vibe...another nice variant. Nice overview...continue doing your thang!!
I have a big fear and dislike of the ocean, but I watched this because this fits my horror genre. The scene that got me was the slow walking while dragging the man and you see something there with them.
There was a interview with the creator of Underwater where he stated that the giant monster is Cthulhu but a simple giant sea monster instead an Eldritch god. Also in the book of “Call of Cthulhu,” a boat beats Cthulhu.
I've heard the argument that the whole "it drives you nuts by looking at it thing" was never actually mentioned in any books. I need to research this at some point.
Underwater and Sonic were the only movies i saw before the lockdown happened. In my theatre there was hardly anyone there and people really missed out on a skin crawling movie
Hi Mr. Zaffy. I think you hit the nail on the head with The Empty Man. A guy looking for the answers he desperately needs to solve an illogical mystery (and, by extension, so do we, the audience), which, when he finds them, lead only to despair. Surely this is the underlying truth beneath all Lovecraftian stories? Everybody wants the answers, but much good they ever do anyone. Be careful what you wish for etc. If the hairs on the back of my neck don't move because I didn't feel the scream of Cosmic Horror, then it's not Lovecraftian right? Alien, with the Derelict and the Space Jockey, did a brilliant job. May Sir Ridley Scott choke on his own cigar smoke for turning the Jockey into an Engineer. Great video, keep on sniffing!
Godzilla in hell when he hears of Azathoth: Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary! Azathoth: bats a... limb, in his sleep. Godzilla: It was at this moment he realized, he might need more power.
Cthulu by virtue of being an eldritch God with a knack for turning things insane who perceive him ends a fight with Goji before it starts. Nuclear breath isn't stopping something that is metaphysical and divine. Godzilla will either go mad or supplicate himself before his greater.
He not only cooked but also served us a delicious meal! I always thought if you HAD to have humans sort of "stand a chance" against cthullu it would be some sort of dimension gate to try to get us to evacuate into another reality. (of course it would just end up being WAY worse/hostile/alien than our current one and then have some sort of hint that cthullu is oging to show up in THAT dimension eventually anyways.
It is a cool movie!! Did not realise who the actress was. I just watched it for fun. & it was fun. ❤❤❤ We are Kuthutums dream. & dreams ends when the sleeper awakes.
There is a Call of Cathululu movie made in the old style but it’s made in the I think 2013. I always liked the theory that it’s a baby one and it’s on the back of the actual one the entire sea bottom is the creature.

Zaffy, Like Godzilla King of all the Monsters.Should someone make a movie. With Cthulhu. Controling all the movie monsters out there. Just a idea. Since most of Lovecraft's stories are public domain now.
I need a part two of Underwater I need to know what happens to the world and that love death and Robot episode with Cthulhu I need a whole movie of that.
Bro, I kept seeing your face on thumbnails as recommended. I finally clicked on and Im addicted to the page now. We think the same bout these movies. New sub mane!
The moment I saw the obvious Cthulhu Mythos beast at the end, as well as hints in the dialogue, the penny dropped that this was a Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror movie. Until then it was a bog standard deep space/alien planet/deep sea and survive the alien beasties movie. It was actually a pretty great subversion of my expectations, and I was completely happy to admit that the film totally got me, lol. The deep sea is a recurring theme in Lovecraft, except thanks to modern technology we can now go to the Abyssal Plains, before it mysteriously rises to the surface like he describes in 'Dagon' and alludes to in his Cthulhu Mythos eg the Call of Cthulhu and The Mountains of Madness etc., so we sort of know what is down there now, but back then, they had no clue… but they did know it was 1000000% NOPE and was something that hardened sailors had night terrors about.
Where are people getting the omniscient omnipotent cthulhu? From my limited understanding mister knocked out by a boat, while incredibly powerful and telepathic, isn't a god, hes a priest, but hes no Yog Sothot nor is he Nyarlathotep much less even a shadow of Azathoth yet people are dissing "all godzilla" like he didnt fight Satan once? (I dont recall if if was actually satan so do fact check me on that one) Have more books of the cthulhu mythos come out that powerscaled Cthulhu further after the original Lovecraft and Friends run? If I understand it correctly hes a Great Old One but not an outer god by any measure, Like Nyarlatothep, Shub Niggurath, Yog Sothot or the creator/destroyer of all Azathot "blind idiot god" hes literally "big old alien"

Underwater is great. One of the few disaster movies where all the characters cooperate and help each other, which is a nice change. Likeable characters and cool action and there's a lot of artsy camera shots that elevate the film without being annoying.
Super underappreciated movie ⭐️
Underwater is unironically one of my favorite movies.
This dude is onto something AND THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THOSE GODZILLA FANS IN THEY PLACE
Coke
We need Cloverfield!!!! "Underwater" was really good! I wish there were more movies about monsters from the sea/space.
I saw this movie. Underwater is really good. Kristen and whole cast were great. It literally was like a bit of classic horror. You don't the big bad scare but it is there...and is revealed at end. The little creatures are like distraction.
Underwater, great movie i loved it.
I remember this monster screaming release me in LDR was scary as hell... Nice ref bro 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
In Underwater, even before they see any creatures, several members of the team have their minds start slipping. Also, Kirsten's character was wearing glasses at the beginning of the film, but loses them early on, so she might have been saved from instant madness by being nearsighted.
You are 💯 percent correct in your evaluation of Cthulhu.
“Look how big that fucking thing is.” Sub earned.
I'm glad you're appreciating this film
glad to see someone talk about this movie, i love underwater. one of the best interpretations of cthulu ive seen, and the atmosphere! holy shee
I swear you talk about the best movie Ms that everyone forgets. Thanks for the fire content Zaffman🤙🏾
This movie hits like tremors and aliens for me.
Very underrated.
Wasn't this touched on in the film..."Cabin in the Woods:? I agree..this movie is greatly under rated. Hard to find at Walmart or Target...This film gives off that sort of "the Myst" vibe...another nice variant. Nice overview...continue doing your thang!!
Loved it , was the last movie i actually wemt to a theater to watch , a purchased it on blue ray!
Yeah the only one who could fight Cthulhu is biblically accurate Satan, cthulhu washing/decimating any kaiju and horrid abomination
We need a friggin sequel 😫 with her twin in it. Sneaky way of resurrecting her
I have a big fear and dislike of the ocean, but I watched this because this fits my horror genre. The scene that got me was the slow walking while dragging the man and you see something there with them.
I always considered this behemoth a version of Dagon. He doesn't twist the character's mind and is surrounded by deep ones.
"Their's nothing you can do with this girl, she's already dead" lol. Reminiscent of my days in the dating pool😂
Uploading a crazy amount 🔥🔥🔥 I subbed at the right time
😊and on the movies and shows I like
Underwater is goated ...
Completely agree. What a movie. First time commentator, love you whole thing bro. Excellent as always.
This is crazy,my guy ,you really know how to get to the meat of things, you rock 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽💯💯💯😎😎
Okay, Deathstroke...I like your energy! 😄😆😅🤣
Your videos are so good. Keep it up brotha
It was indeed Cthulu, the closest cinema can get to Cthulu no 🧢
Video: This is what happens when you combine the Kraken from clash of the titans with Bella from Twilight...
Me: Oh no, she it doesn't she.
Zaffy should cover the 30 Days of Night vampires next 👀
Underwater and Sonic were the only movies i saw before the lockdown happened. In my theatre there was hardly anyone there and people really missed out on a skin crawling movie
Cthulhu is the one creature you don't want to wake up from a nap.
Or Lord Azathoth
@tadhggoreyoneill13666 nope.
When he said she looked good in the glasses. I instantly liked the video. Too real
Hi Mr.
Godzillas see Cthylu:"Fucking hell no"
Godzilla in hell when he hears of Azathoth: Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!
I liked this movie then and I like it still. One of the best underwater horrors imo.
second video that got me to subscribe definetly like the costume and yes you have personality.
13:38 I have one idea what happens if you use the head of Medusa against Cthulhu
I've watched this twice and shocked I've never heard anyone mention it. it's great.
It looks like the Kraken from the modern Clash of the Titans movie. That’s why they went with Kraken or Leviathan over an Eldrich god.
Awesome thanks for doing this video I just mentioned this one in a previous comment you're the man
It is a cool movie!! Did not realise who the actress was. I just watched it for fun. & it was fun.
❤❤❤
We are Kuthutums dream. & dreams ends when the sleeper awakes.
@7:57 it's pronounced DAY-GONE for Dagon!! Hope that helps. Loved the vid btw!!
I love how Calvin is just a character of the show now
There is a Call of Cathululu movie made in the old style but it’s made in the I think 2013. I always liked the theory that it’s a baby one and it’s on the back of the actual one the entire sea bottom is the creature.
I'm old school, I love Deep star Six, Leviathan, and obviously the Abyss. Thanks for putting this on my radar. Zaffy Army🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
It was a really good movie. Had a great time at the theater when it released.
I don't know if I missed it but have you done a vid on The Mist and all the insane monsters they had in that movie zaffy? I'm referring to the newer one not the first one
will def add it to the list, good topic
Covered one of my favs. Noice. I don't give a shit about paranormal movies but I absolutely love fanstasy/Scifi "creature features". Have you talked about Pandorum yet? Maybe you didn't care for that one. Keep up the Excellent work man!
Pandorum was awesome. Definitely needs to be covered.
"Its the librarian thing i guess" is such a valid statement and got a like out of me even though i waa gonna like anyways
who would win?
an Eldridge god beyond mortal comprehension.
a boat...
the boat: "nah, I'd win."
That was his avather
Underwater is a hidden gem!!!
Zaffy,
Like Godzilla King of all the Monsters.Should someone make a movie. With Cthulhu. Controling all the movie monsters out there. Just a idea. Since most of Lovecraft's stories are public domain now.
0:25 baby or adult if it's baby I can see it adult what the hell man!?
Been building up your vids cus I like to play them when I’m gaming
That's literally what I'm about to do. 😂 perfect background noise while playing cyberpunk for the ump-teenth time.
I need a part two of Underwater I need to know what happens to the world and that love death and Robot episode with Cthulhu I need a whole movie of that.
I really did love this movie. Glad it's getting talked about.
gotta admire the legitimate fear of Cthulhu on display here.
(I dont recall if if was actually satan so do fact check me on that one)
Have more books of the cthulhu mythos come out that powerscaled Cthulhu further after the original Lovecraft and Friends run?
If I understand it correctly hes a Great Old One but not an outer god by any measure, Like Nyarlatothep, Shub Niggurath, Yog Sothot or the creator/destroyer of all Azathot "blind idiot god" hes literally "big old alien"
