Only he's a much superior gamer to you and speed runners are usually people who exploit cheats and glitches and have very little skill and lots of free time. Like the end of South Park guitar hero the title is the same.

Poor Asmongold doesn't know about speedrunners. They are a dedicated breed of gamers that put so much time into games that they make any game look like a cakewalk.
@@erundorgames8941 Nah Any% runners can play the game just as good. That category removes most restrictions that runners follow. Its more about breaking the limits the game tries to impose on them and aim for a stronger time. I see it as more of a performance of how broken the game is rather than showcasing their skill. To take your example, Any% is more like showing people the finish line but telling runners there is no road to follow. You can take any path you want.

@@erundorgames8941yea and the runner is the taxi driver and anyone else also running the race uses a taxi because the category they're competing in is any % and the same rules apply to everyone as decided by the speedrun community. Great analogy.
They really are dedicated, so much that every second counts to them and they had to replay the games multiple times to get as fast as they are now.

I disagree. If the bug or glitch was already inside the game, then it's still strictly part of the game. The only thing that matters is that the speedrunners get to the end with the fastesr time using any means within the game (afterall, the category of the run is "any"). Also, it does take a lot of practice and skill to even perform some glitches, which can help the run go faster. The only thing that would be considered cheating is using an outside program (TAS, cheat engine, etc.) to enhance the game, which defeats the purpose because you aren't strictly playing by what the game has available to you. That would be the "taxi" in your metaphor race.
If you dislike people using glitches or bugs in their speedrun, then you should just watch the "Glitchless" speedruns.

its kinda funny how he tries to justify how good he did or how little tries he does it in, then the guy just does the whole boss in like 30 seconds.
This is a legacy version...meaning he is weapon swapping between two specific weapons rapidly that cause the weapons to shoot at the same time which was deemed a bug and fixed. You can no longer do this bug after patching.
@@erundorgames8941 Its any% then and glitchess is its own category. Also you could say glitches are part of the game mechanics as they are in the game.

To speedup transitions in between phases the game doesnt have a protocol that tells phase 2 that phase 1 is complete, so during that transition phase 2 is active, during transitions the bosses hp is set to 0 then in pretty much a frame is put back to whatever set health. So basically hes not glitching, its more of a game design thing that the devs didnt catch.
A game design that the devs didnt catch... So a bug or a glitch... Thats what it is

Not really. A bug is something that the creator or programmar didnt put in the game. Is it exploiting, kind of yeah. But is it against tos of speedrunning. No not really. As long as the game is done quick is all it matters

A bug in a game, though exploited, is not cheating. And of course it depends on the category, otherwise what I'd be saying is pointless :p

Speedrunners are like min/maxers. They *do* play for fun, but it's the fun of learning. They get really in-depth, learning details of the game so that they can optimize performance.

It uses a glitch that I guess hadn't been discovered yet when the run that Asmongold just watched was recorded. The current any% record is 20:56 utilizing the same glitch (though these are all on an old patch, runs on the current patch take longer).

I know this is a bit late since you posted this video but I have some explanation to why he's beating the boss so far , first of all , he's good at making every shot count and throw exes .Second of all you can hear he is smashing something all the time ! That is the switch of weapon as you said !. It makes a bug where you can store damage every time you switch weapons..... exponentially and with every attack as long as you do it if I remember Good video man.

In speedrunning the shorter your time is how satisfied you are. You get pissed if you know that you could've gotten a shorter time and it bugs you.
