Remember friends: If you're having a shit day, put something as wonderful as this show on your speakers/headphones. Maybe read some funny comments. It's immediate relief guaranteed. Thank you.
Yeah, we all stood around it in a circle first chanting, "HAIL THE WHALE" and we stood worshipping it and then we chanted "FUCK THE WHALE!", thrusting into it and then we chanted "KILL THE WHALE!" so we threw it away, which is what you can see here :D
This is definitely one of the best modern metal bands Ive heard, and I think it’s really cool they’re from France. You don’t see many metal bands from there.
It's actually fretting noise from the bass guitar. (If you'd turn up the gain on an OH mic so far that you can hear the swish of a drumstick flying past, the cymbals and drums would give you nothing but clipping.) It's a pretty good illusion though!
Pandemic introduced me to this band. "Flying Whales" is the first Gojira's song i listened to, about two years ago in my college years but not really into it. Last year i finally dig into it. "Stranded" is the second Gojira's song that i like because it is relatively easy to listen than the other song (such as Vacuity, Gift of Guilt, etc) "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe" is definitely the best Gojira's song in my opinion. Heavy, heavy, heavy. Crazy Mario Duplantier at his peak. This month i am really into "Backbone" and "Remembrance".
I started with "To Sirius" and back then i thought "Oh it's not the big deal", now i cannot avoid to think that is an amazing song. That album is my favourite now.
no doubt about it! is fantastic. But I try to say that when he play "slow" rhythms, he hits like he'll destroy all, but when he play double bass drum he's plays tight as a statue, and hits with less force.
Came here because of Paris Olympic. I couldn’t be more happy I found this band. Incredible live performance! So damn clean! Props to the sound guy! That Backbone ending is brutal! Fxck! Haha
Perfect mix of melody and brutality. Doesn't hurt to have such precise instrumentation, especially Mario... drummers are super important in metal. As others have said, this mix is incredible. Gojira is in their prime and the best metal band out there imo.
I can't express how much I love Jean-Michel Labadie, Gojiras bassist. As far as modern metal bassists go, I think he's the most soulful and true. He lifts my spirits up so much while watching him play. God bless !!
In a world where many people put Jimmy Sullivan (The Rev) and Joey Jordison on a pedestal for modern metal over all the other drummers,I think it’s safe to say he’s underrated. No offense to The Rev and Joey Jordison - they’re terrific drummers - but Mario is easily better than them. I understand why they’re put on a pedestal (popularity),but they’re not the best modern metal has to offer.

Remember friends: If you're having a shit day, put something as wonderful as this show on your speakers/headphones. Maybe read some funny comments. It's immediate relief guaranteed. Thank you.
Giorgio Girardi This what I do at work to pass time & not feel like a slave to the system!

Just noticed now. Thanks for this.
Holy shit, just noticed this and I've watched this video countless times! hahaha
Smooth as butter.
Holy shit²
damn
Mario's limbs each have a higher IQ than the average person.
tottaly
Absolute machine.
Fucking facts.
Mario is Beast.
OMG.....fuckin eh
@37:30 literally a flying whale. HAHA
Nice ! xD
Technically, Orca are part of the dolphin family.
reading this is first thought there's gonna be a fat girl being crowdsurfed :D
That's freaking amazing hahahahaha
57:45 Mario spits out water to emphasize the drop. Crazy
I need to watch their concert at least once before I die
one of my life goals
saw them as my first ever concert a week and a half ago. glad to say my very first show was a progressive death metal band🤘🏻
at least twice my guy
Seeing them in June, Birmingham UK. So worth it.
This bass dude is the new inspiration for my life. EVERYTHING that I do now I will do as happy as this amazing guy
One of the most original metal bands to come out in a long, long time.
Now the bass player kicks ass but can we get props for the DRUMMER CAUSE THAT DUDE SLAPS!!!
they all do. They're tight as fuck every single one of them
@@NooDLES411911 hell yeah
His double bass is so good
This is definitely one of the best modern metal bands Ive heard, and I think it’s really cool they’re from France. You don’t see many metal bands from there.
Check out psykup
DSO is the only one that comes to mind besides Gojira
@@kirbysauce Dagoba...
Mass hysteria
Modern lol. I've been listening to these guys for 20 years.
The thing that amazes me the most about metal bands is the synchronization between the guitar and the kicks. The technical skill is incredible to me.
10:15 he does that without failing a single note
Christian Vegas Marin Jean is a beast on bass
Not like you could’ve heard him mess up anyways!
@@Niguido8 true
How do you know ? I can't even hear the fucking bass
@@slhedn6749 Try a different set of headphones, I hear it pretty clear. Sennheiser headset.
That drummer is unbelievable. I am in awe, he is immense. The band is.
Fun fact: Mario rents all the shirts he uses, because he doesn't own any
lol
source?
@@nostrum7278 its a joke...
He only needs gloves!
Mario is perfect with no shirt though 😍
this show must win an award, best sound at live performance!!!
Bayu Negara meshuggah takes it man... comparable though I just like the unreal precision of them and their bass tracks are harder
At 28:59 you can actually here the swish of the drumstick
Nice ear mate
No you can literally hear a swish. :D
probably coincidence bruh! Who cares anyway? Unbelievable gig!
It's clearly a swish of he drumstick, nice catch! The sound on this recording is unbelievably good.
It's actually fretting noise from the bass guitar. (If you'd turn up the gain on an OH mic so far that you can hear the swish of a drumstick flying past, the cymbals and drums would give you nothing but clipping.) It's a pretty good illusion though!
38:30 Dude. That's my spot.
lmaoo
Best sound I have ever seen in a metal live performance video
you know the sound has a good quality when you can see it
hahahah
haha
George8LIVERPOOL increíble
Best drums but the mix of the guitars is veeeeeeery thin compared to how these guys REALLY sound
I once saw them perform in yellow pants and rainbow shirts. It was jarring.
To clarify, I was wearing yellow pants, and they were all in black.
Pandemic introduced me to this band.
"Flying Whales" is the first Gojira's song i listened to, about two years ago in my college years but not really into it. Last year i finally dig into it.
"Stranded" is the second Gojira's song that i like because it is relatively easy to listen than the other song (such as Vacuity, Gift of Guilt, etc)
"The Heaviest Matter of the Universe" is definitely the best Gojira's song in my opinion.
@@abnereliabgonzalezruiz3043 hey i totally forgot about that song. it has great and artistic music video.
I'm covering that full album on my channel until the end of the year, if anyone cares to see :)
Now you go check Mouth of Kala, In the Forest, Wisdom Comes, Where Dragons Dwell and Explosia

"Sometimes these French bois just wanna make noise.
That's OK. Noises are neat." Uncle Ben, 2019.
Touching the neck of the guitar is illegal in some countries, but is actually encouraged in France.
lol, Ben is the best
Gojira are good boys.
I love that video
"things gojina does"
lmao i thought they were like German or something
39:20 Watch the drummer. The man is a lunatic in the best way possible.
Mr.Mister The drummer is amazing. Ladies and Gentleman that's what drums are suppose to sound like.
jonny j I agree.
But in the double bass drum parts no that much.
Osvaldo Y. His double bass is fantastic.
no doubt about it! is fantastic.
I was there. Mastodon were awesome, but Gojira were on another level!!
Alright, FULL SET here, enjoy!

This is the definition of a 'BRUTAL' metal band , love this shit
11:35 It sounded through the universe
I can't express how much I love Jean-Michel Labadie, Gojiras bassist. As far as modern metal bassists go, I think he's the most soulful and true. He lifts my spirits up so much while watching him play. God bless !!
That snare is to die for. All hail Mario.
Mario is still underrated dude. And they are SO good live. 🤘
underrated? i consider him and Tomas Haake to be the best drummers on earth.
he won best drummer tgis year from somewhere deservingly so
underrated you kidding me these brother rules the shit
Mario lost to Vinnie Paul as best drummer in 2005
In a world where many people put Jimmy Sullivan (The Rev) and Joey Jordison on a pedestal for modern metal over all the other drummers,I think it’s safe to say he’s underrated. No offense to The Rev and Joey Jordison - they’re terrific drummers - but Mario is easily better than them. I understand why they’re put on a pedestal (popularity),but they’re not the best modern metal has to offer.
A few months ago I saw Gojira in a 500 people venue. I can die happy...
Gregory Serpan who says I'm not....?

man, totally underrated band...Pantera and tool elements are visible
wha-What? Gojira is literally one of the hottest metal bands at present. Kind of right at the spearhead of a new wave of big metal bands as Metallica and Slayer and whatnot have overtaken themselves in the past 5-7 years.
Pantera and Tool wish they were as good as Gojira. These guys are on a whole new level that nobody else is able to reach. They even have a legit sound guy who makes them sound like God, how can you beat that?
not sure about that but they are great, i think pantera and tool are going for different things
Vheissu pantera are as good
For the first 10 minutes of an album.
Tool are another level entirely.
the fanbase of tool are probably one of the worst fanbase a never seen

You and I have similar taste in music... Metallica, Trivium, Gojira, and I've seen you on other bands videos aswell dude...
This band makes me excited for metal. I love the way they come in; similar to an orchestra.
Same here lol, although it's more Metallica and Gojira :D

The drummer is awesome. Most metal dudes don't even know what a ghost note is.
What's a ghost note?
Jesus. I peed.
Real drummers could care less about what you call the way somebody makes noise. Haha, that's like the hipsters that think sweeps are playing guitar.
