You did just fine catching those trains. The only way you could have done better is stand between them. And that's not allowed. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Nothing like a two-fer right off the bat with both the front and rear end meeting right by you. Alas the CSX lead train was headed back to where you vacationed in Florida to reload with phosphates. The MOCX/PTEX cars give it away and usually cars that stained and Rusty are down to this commodity. Surprisingly a few new AOKXcars we're in the mix that also had at least six now gone class ones Those 2 SD40s did a fine job of notching out and getting a roll-on and Cincinnati actually kept them rolling both directions. While the pets held down the homefront

These week i have watched by Google Maps and Earth the Cincinnati Queens gate yard, man awesome that yard is really sensational big. You are correct - that is a busy, busy place in Cincinnati :) That was a very cool local (it was downright long!) and all of the other trains were pretty cool too :) If I were looking to spot you railfanning, it would definitely be the bright shirts - they're a giveaway :)

The NS lines in southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia all still use the color and position type of signal, as far as I know. In fact, I never saw any other type of signal until I was a teenager. That was a long time ago, but last time I checked, those signals were still in use. BNSF uses both the "Darth Vader" and the single lens types of signals, which I saw in action when I lived in Denver.
I thought they replaced them in that area. I didn't see any down there when I went to central West Virginia and spent a couple of days. I will look for them. thanks
@@JawTooth I'm living in Beckley, WV now, and the closest functioning railroad goes through Beaver, with the track making a big bypass loop around Beckley. I have not seen any signals at all on that loop. The main line, which supports Amtrak service, goes through the town of Prince, about 9 miles from Beckley. I have not been there so I don't know about the signals. The stretches of track that I do know about are the NS main line out of Bluefield, which turns to the north, and the NS line between Roanoke, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee. I grew up in Marion, VA and did a lot of train chasing as soon as I got my driver's license. Since I didn't have a radio that picked up the railroad chatter, I relied on the signals in Marion to tell me if a train was coming or not. Don't know about the NS line that goes southwest out of Bluefield. The latest info I have is from 2017, so things might have changed, as you mentioned. I would hate for you to make that long of a drive just to find out that the signals had been changed. I'm sure you have much more railroad info than I do, but maybe there's a way to contact NS in Roanoke, VA and ask before you drive. Also, check out the incredible trestles in Big Stone Gap, VA. The railroad line literally clings to the side of the hills high above the road and the trestles connect the hills. Really spectacular. Thank you for all the railroad vids you post. I live my love of trains vicariously through you!
Great video JT. That train meet was pretty cool got the locos on both trains and the ends. That's an awesome railfanning spot with the long approaches. Still wondering what that burn area is around the exhaust on NS 9929. And a horn salute to top it off.
Great catch on those train meets JT, you mentioned rust buckets on that first grain train, I think someone needs to spend abit money on painting those grain wagons, I know paint don't fit into some companys R&M budgets but surely some those are overdue for anew paint job, why are they so rusty, been carting salt in them or just old age?

Those trains were the same length and were going the same speed. They met and left each other at the exact same time. That's a rare catch!
