dude, I just have to let you know that your videos have been extremely valuable to me. You gave me the jumpstart I needed at my new job to hit the ground running in studio 5000 in the first week.
you are a great teacher buddy, keep it up.
and thank you thank you for recording your videos with extremely good resolution and not assuming anything on the capability of the viewer - exceptionally easy to follow along with.

I second this. I'm into a lot of things for work and for hobbies and I'm often on TH-cam looking for tutorials on all sorts of stuff. My opinion, his tutorials are easily some of the best I've seen for starting to learn something from scratch. Like you said, he doesn't assume you know anything and shows all the necessary steps from start to finish. Easily my favorite automation TH-cam channel!

I took the HMI class at AB. Instructor gave us a pdf and walked away. $750. Thank you. I learnt more from Tim's you tube lessons than what AB ever could. twcontrols and Tim ROCK. Any PLC, HMI, trainer I buy comes from twcontrols. Full disclosure: No, I do NOT own twcontrols stock, nor am I an employee of twcontrols. I am a university prof and 2 yr college instructor.

Good day Tim, I've been following you along, but up to video showing buss voltage, mine doesn't work. I have to hold the start button on first rung or it won't stay on. I'm sure I'm missing something in the logic or a tag issue. My drive won't start either, even holding the start button. I know I'll figure it out, but looking for help. LOL

    Has anyone experienced this problem?
I'm using a 2711R-T4T communicating over ethernet AB CIP to a micro 850. I discovered while the HMI is booting up if you press one of the 4 physical buttons below the screen the HMI will transmit that button press upon the HMI fully booting up which can lead to unexpected motion of a machine I'm working on. I believe by using the $SysCommStatus tag and making a lockout by only allowing button commands or machine motion after $SysCommStatus = 0, which is "communication is active", that I can prevent this problem. I haven't tested it yet but I think that will work but can find nowhere online where anyone else is aware of this issue and done a workaround. The button press can't happen too early in the boot sequence but if you power it up and let it boot for like 30 seconds then hit a button that button's value will be transmitted as a 1 to the processor once the screen has fully booted.

I am new to CCW software, I opened up the standard edition. I went to insert the IP address in the window on the settings screen and the box is skewed so that the spot to insert the ip address is not visible. I noticed this while using CCW to program a micro 850 also but I could still access all the boxes on the screen. I'm sure it's a display setting of some sort but I have played with resolutions to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks Tim your videos are the best. Thank you so much.

I ran into this before. I'm not in front of a PC but right click the CCW icon, go to properties, and the compatibility tab. Towards the bottom there is an option to disable full screen optimizations. It might be a DPI checkbox. But it is somewhere in there.

Hey Tim, I'm having issues with my panelview 800. My CCW HMI developer says that my version is 6.011 and my Panelview 800 4inch firmware was version 5.013. I downloaded a program over ethernet and it told me on the Panelview that my firmware wasn't in the right version. I updated the version to 6.011 on the Panelview and tried to communicate after although I can no longer see it in RS LINX. Even after reverting back to 5.013 it's not showing up for me. Any thoughts on how to reconnect? Your videos have taught me so much. Thanks for providing these resources.

@@TimWilborne Turns out it was just an issue of me using a more difficult fix than needed. When I tried to update the firmware I downloaded the update from the Rockwell automation firmware library website and downloaded it through usb.
