Great video, Scott. Just bought one second hand. Collecting it on Friday. Can’t wait to get using it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Agree. I have the original RCP and am fortunate enough to also own the RCP2. And I prefer the original version. It's a great piece of kit and I too recommend it. Good to see your video hailing its use!

Do you think RCP1 is better and more reliable than RCP2?

@@dantezero5404 From my experience, yes. The original Rodecaster Pro has less features than its sequel, but that means less to go wrong!

I have the original that I use once in a while. I received the RCP2 yesterday, and it went back today. Where to start: The annoying latency, the unresponsive pads, and the sound wasn't all that much better than the original. I can't afford to give it more time. Been a producer and engineer for some time now and I can tell if it will suit my needs on the very first try. I'm used to analog gear that works at the turn of a knob, and I have plenty of plugins if I need them. For me, I'll stick with the original RCP. I appreciate this video.

I never used the TRRS port on the RCP1. I love all the options the RCP2 gives me.

I picked up the Rodecaster Pro 1 for 380 USD and I picked up the Rode Procaster for 160 USD. I have a Presonus Audio box USB 96 but I don't like the sound and the sound keeps cutting out. I didn't want to spend the extra money but I decided to go through with it. I kept looking into cheaper options only to be disappointed in the end. I just want clean audio for my discord calls for DND nights although I do want to start exploring into podcast and other things. On another note, your audio and video was really clean and satisfying to watch.

As a gamer I had the original RCP and got rid of it to buy the RCP2 and while it has a lot of great features I had to go get the RCP 1 again because I cant use the RCP2 for game chat because it doesnt have a TRRS port. Im hoping through a firmware update they can allow 1 of the USB-C ports on the RCP2 to be used with a USB-C to TRRS adapter so I can use the RCP2 for game chat. So as of right now my RCP2 is basically sitting in the box good as new

The first RØDECaster I bought was the Pro II. Although I liked it there were more options than I needed. As strange as this may sound, I sold my RØDECaster Pro II to buy the Pro (gen 1). I prefer the more 'retro' look where there's no lights around the headphone knobs (don't need them). I also prefer the large segment meters in the rcp and the designated siders to the right (USB, Mobile, Bluetooth etc). But the main reason I swapped the RPC2 for the RCP was that I wanted more simple processing controls by either having them On or Off. I know the RCP2 has 'Voxlab' which is a Simple Mode, but I like the 'On/Off' switches for each of the processors on the original.

I agree. RCP2 is great but if you want simplicity go with original. Additionally the build quality on RCP1 is superior. Most of the enhancements made on the RCP2 are targeted to gamers.

@@ScottEdwards maybe one day! It’s a bit on the pricy side PLUS. Couple of mics and stands etc 😩 if the new podcast does well I’ll consider it
