    Perfect dude! Imma do my valve cover first and then will do the serpentine belt! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! One question. Why don’t you use a torque wrench? Is it necessary to use a torque wrench? What happens if I don’t use one and just tighten the bolts till they’re right

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience i’ve had plenty of customers who tried using torque wrench and broke bolts or other components so I’d recommend just using common sense, most of the bolts are far away from vibration that can loosen them, and if you break the bolt on the tensioner let’s say you’ll have another one with new tensioner😉

    • @regulardude2011
      @regulardude2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see! What would be a good rule of thump to tighten them. Tighten till tight, and then do 90 degree turn or something like that. Also, I bought the pick tool for the hose that’s in the back of the engine. I can’t wait to try your method when I’ll do VC gasket. Thanks again dude! You da man 👊🏻

    what is the torque spec pls?

  • @fernandoq633
    @fernandoq633 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How you don’t use torque on the bolts like other peoples videos? I like your videos and the easy you fix bmws , and then is not necessary to use torque?

    • @matthewbichara5424
      @matthewbichara5424 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      please take my comment with a grain of salt but these are the torque specs per FCP Euro
      pulley 16mm bolt is 40nm
      tensioner bolt is 25nm plus 90deg/quarter turn. i just did this job yesterday and these specs feel just right.
      please keep in mind Tim is extremely experienced and can probably torque these to spec from muscle memory. always check the other numerous e9x sources for torque specs

    What can be done to minimize the chances of E70 X5 4.8 engine developing bad valve seals? Besides frequent oil changes, any advice?

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, good oil and frequent oil changes are the best treatment, you can also use lucas oil stabilizer, can’t really tell if it helps or not but it seems like it creates a better film

    Aside from the belt kit itself, what all tools did you use/need?

    • @matthewbichara5424
      @matthewbichara5424 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      bro did you not watch the video?? or are you just very new to this? he shows you everything you need.
      -ratchet, a 3/8 or 1/2
      -T20 bit/socket to remove 2 front screws
      -breaker bar with a..
      T60 to rotate the tensioner (removal and installation of belt)
      -flathead to remove plastic cap on pulley
      -16mm socket for pulley
      -E14 for tensioner
      -torque wrench
      pulley bolt is 40nm
      tensioner bolt is 25nm +90deg or a quarter turn
      FCP euro has a good video also, showing all the tools. but they take extra steps removing the air box, MAF sensor, and fan. very unnecessary unless you need to film it. also risking breaking your expansion tank hose. but Tim managed to do it without doing that extra shit. good luck!

  • @newphx
    @newphx ปีที่แล้ว

    If you don't have an E14 socket, anything else that you can improvise with?

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah try 12 point metric or standard sockets, metric would be probably 12-13mm

    Would any of this cause a squeaking noise too? My car squeaks for a couple of seconds on cold startup and does it longer when hotter outside and squeaks when low-speed acceleration.

    I replaced the tensioner pulley on my N52 last year because the belt wasn't setting on it all the way, so some of the belt was slightly off of the tensioner pulley. Although, when I replaced it, the belt was more on the pulley, but still slightly off. Do you think replacing the belt, tensioner again, and idler pulley would fix this?

    • @matthewbichara5424
      @matthewbichara5424 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      when replacing the belt, try to get it on the tensioner LAST. it should easily fit on with a little bit of extra slack, just enough to put it on, before you rotate the tensioner slightly to pull the pin. SAVE the pin in case you did it wrong!

  • @djglobol
    @djglobol 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don’t have to remove the fan? All the videos I’ve seen, they had to remove the fan to install the 2 other pulleys.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is enough room as you can see without fan removal

    HELLO ZEITEN I put the NEW BLACK IDLER PULLEY ON BACKWARDS SO THE CAP WONT FIT ON IT..SHOULD IT BE OK??? EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE..BELT IS ON LIKE YOU SHOWED..THASNK U PLEASE RESOND GAIL :)

    • @matthewbichara5424
      @matthewbichara5424 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no it’s not ok. there’s a metal washer that fits on the back (not facing you) of the pulley. if you purchase the INA pulley it should come with it. for some reason FCP euro says it doesn’t but the INA one does. and the INA tensioner assembly comes with a fresh bolt also.
