The buttons on the blazer was so funny! Many years ago in high school I learned that after sewing the 'attachment' part of the button you use the thread to wrap several times around between the button shank and the garment and that makes it not floppy. You would think the manufacturer would know- or is too cheap to pay the extra 10 seconds.....

    • @meganhansen7322

I learned the same thing! It's such an easy thing, but such a pain when you pay good money for a nice blazer and still have to fix the buttons!

The black and white tweed blazer has an expensive look because the lines match. Look at the seams, the lines match. Look at the front side to side where it buttons...the lines match. Very important when there is a plaid, design or stripe. To me both black snd white blouses look cheap because the left and right side patterns do not match. It's like there is generally a pattern match in carpet and flooring. If you do not match the pattern you can see the flaw.

I love your videos…and your advice. I have to say this though. In my experience with my gold from India and Dubai, the higher the gold content in a piece of jewelry, the more yellow and softer it is. Pieces that are 22 or 23k in my collection do look different from even designer gold pieces that are 18k in the States. Perhaps they look more yellow but the pieces do have more gold content and are ultimately worth more if you were to think about the value of gold.

    • @jovicrazed
      @jovicrazed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

For sure. Brassy costume jewellery does look cheap, but the yellower yellow gold is, the more gold content the piece has and anyone familiar with gold would know real gold from brassy plated costume jewellery.

The best tip I've learned is to look at seams. Quality clothes will have smooth, small stitches and seams that lay flat. Patterned fabrics will be matched at seams, on pockets and cuffs (on striped trousers, look at the seat; the lines should be precisely matched to a point at center back). Learning to recognize fabrics has also been helpful, because quality fabric lasts!

The droopy buttons are a very deliberate detail! It is done to create a shank for the button so that when it is closed it will not pull and pucker. I agree, we want to tighten them if they are too loose when the jacket is open.

With denim I think how well the waistband is structured makes a big difference, a well constructed waistband will hold up whereas something cheap will crease and collapse throughout the day. The “cheap” dirty denim you tried on looked like they had too much elastic in the waistband and wouldn’t hold their shape as you wore them.

Free People can look cheap on anyone who doesn’t embody/know how to style their boho aesthetic. One could wear that tunic as a mini dress, leather booties and look chic.
Actually, most of your pieces could be made to look nice. It’s all about the person’s ability to have “the eye” and make things work. One should always choose quality though

Great video with great points although I do disagree on some things. The floral top in the beginning actually looks very beautiful on you although I agree $129 is an insane price. If I saw it I'd think it's a beautiful peice and well made and expect it to come at a mid range price of about $32-42 (that's a mid range price for me at least-I live in the UK and rarely spend much money on individual items of clothes - it's hard to compare though because the cost of living is different). It there was hand embroidery I think it would look expensive.
I loved that last blouse with the boats and to me it looks anything from-mid range to designer.
It is a generally classy peice.
The second top pattern with the leopard print looked cheap because of the pink and the colour but the fit, even though it was hard to wear was lovely and floaty.
The bodysuit comparison was beautiful and looked well made.
The yellow dress also looked very well made and expensive
The first blazer was really gorgeous but extremely overpriced. Second blazer was really nice but not as nice as Blazer 1 but very wearable. Agree on the buttons. I also wonder how that tweed blazer would look woth silver buttons or a nice shade of larger brown buttons.
Totally agree on the shorts. The green shade of the distressing on the first looked grungy and cheap and the second one also didn't look expensive but they looked classy.
Love the pair of jeans from H&M they fit so well.
Agree on the jewellery although the second didn't look bad just didn't fit as nice on your neck.

the droopy buttons, uhg lol, i got a blazer from NY&Co about 3 years ago, i took it to a tailor and got it altered, the shoulders were hanging down and the arms were too long so they shortened the shoulders and arms and they fixed the buttons, now it fits me great and looks so nice, it was like $80 and I paid about $50 for the alterations since i wanted the shoulders fixed not just the sleeve length but i would have had any blazer altered that I found around the same time in the navy color I wanted, they were all ill fitting. So I opted for. the slightly cheaper one that was still nice material and now I am so happy I got it fixed.
