    For all those people commenting that milk or water would result in different temperatures when testing it... it does not matter what liquid is being use the temperature sensor at the base on the tray is what regulates and determines the temperature during the operation in order to bring the liquid to the desired temperature.

    And thank you for this extensive series. Great information. Hope you will shoot more as your Creatista ages and your techniques evolve.

      Thanks David! I will definitely continue to share my Creatista Plus experiences with you. It continues to be a great machine!

    Mine milk doesn’t heat up and would be appreciated if you can suggest what to look at? Thanks

    Tested the Ideal and I got 155 degrees, from my test it resulted 19 degrees warmer than the warm setting in which I got 131 degrees

    First i think you should use fridge temperature water and not tap water. My Creatista plus on warm tests 131 degrees with refrigerated water! I just tested it now

    Perfect, thanks for the vid. Just what I was looking for.

    Quick probes that are accurate are kind of privacy so it’s possible your gauge might not be super consistent

    I think the thermometer was a great idea thanks mate.

  • @michellebrake6511
    @michellebrake6511 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So the warm temp is 150 then the ideal temp is 130? Just checking because the ideal temp is "hotter" on the dial but tested as a cooler temp? Thanks in advance!

    You cannot dismiss the inaccuracy of your thermometer so easily. That piece of junk could be 20 F off. Put some ice in a glass add water. Should read exactly 32F. Boil some water. Should read exactly 212F.

      David Bogie I appreciate the feedback and will definitely test the thermometer for accuracy per your suggestions.

    I was under the impression from a store demo at Sur la table that the button under milk dispenser was a safety feature. Without the weight of the milk pitcher on that button froth will be disabled to prevent accidental burning.

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is only partially correct. It's other function is to determine the temperature of the milk per the Breville user manual. Sadly, the day I purchased my Creatista Plus at Sur La Table I knew more about the machine than the Nespresso representative.

    Hello, I am Chris from Germany and have a question concerning the temperature.
    Please could you measure the temperature on the left site... the coffee side.
    I think it is not hot only warm. I have exactly the same machine (not from Nespresso Germany)
    The Milk Temperature is the same like you show us. But I am interesting about the temperature on the other site.
    Thanks a lot for an answere. Regards

    Good afternoon, dear observer !!!! I noticed that you have a serious coffee machine in the kitchen, what made you buy a nespresso coffee machine?

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! Overall ease of use and speed are why I decided to purchase the Breville Creatista Plus for my daily grab-n-go coffee before going to work. The Nespresso coffee capsules really help speed the process of coffee making and ensure consistency when I’m half awake in the morning.

    As the lowest value it states in the manual is 133, then the lowest setting on the device of cool would give you milk at 133.

  • @andrecascavel
    @andrecascavel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Milk takes longer to boil, so when you use water, it will be hotter than the manual specifies. Just a thought...

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Luiz for the feedback. It really doesn't matter if I tested with milk or water... the temperature sensor on the Creatista Plus is still going to detect the same temperature. My experiment was based on collecting the temperature only and not how long it takes.

      It still begs the question of how your first reading on the 3rd temp option - (warm) was 150F, and the ideal reading was 130F. I own this machine and that is quite bizarre.

    I've tried the cold temperature, and it came out pretty warm...I'm wondering if my temperature sensor is broken. Mine is a brand new machine.

    Thank you for your excellent reviews! Do you know what the difference is between the Nespresso Creatista Plus and the *NEW* Creatista that Amazon says is a new release for $419? Brand New - Breville BNE600SLQUSC Nespresso Creatista Espresso and Coffeemaker - Black Color Thank you again!

    Can it heat up water with the steam so i can make tea? I also noticed there's a temperature sensor at the bottom of the tray, do you have to watch out for it so it doesn't get water into it? is it waterproof or no?

      The ‘Pro’ model offers a hot water function.

  • @MrRahul0200

    Will the machine, programmed at a desirable temp setting stop by itself after heating.. even if my milk jug is not placed on top of sensor, coz I see some baristas froth the milk by placing the jug at an angle, in that case it may not come in contact with the sensor. And what's the benefit in placing the jug in such angle, if there's any. Thanks, your vids are informative.

    • @mikesmedley8037
      @mikesmedley8037 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. Since this is an automated milk steamer, it is necessary to keep the pitcher on the sensor at all times for it to operate. If this were a manual steaming machine then you would be able to move the pitcher around at an angle to get the best swirling of the milk for micro foam. Baristas move the jug around to better incorporate all of the steamed milk during the steaming process. Hope that helps!

    I can't decide between this one and the Kitchen Aid Candy Apple Red one. Ugh. Do you think with the aerocino the quality of lattes would be similar?

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Easy answer.... NO. The milk is "dry" and foamy with the Aerocinno and authentically steamed milk with the Breville Creatista Plus. After having tried both, I would not go back to using the Aerocinno.

    how do think the creatista stands up against the kitchen aid nespresso

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the Kitchen Aid machine is a good looking machine with metal housing and variable coffee sizes. Unfortunately, it does not offer a milk steaming feature which is what sets the Breville machine apart. If you do not need an all-in-one machine with milk then the Kitchen Aid might be worth considering.

    Thanks for the video, can the machine froth milk without heating it for iced coffee? Thank you

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, absolutely! It has a cold milk function to allow you to froth without heat.

    • @wanxia

      Hi! Can you share how to make cold milk froth? Even the lowest cool settings makes hot milk froth, not cold one for ice coffee.

  • @Bloomysbits

    What is the accuracy of your thermometer? Most cheap digital thermometers will indicate that the readout will be within a range that can sometimes be plus or minus 1 degree. Sometimes more or less.
    Not terribly scientific method. Your thermometer was not in exactly the same place each time which could alter readings. Where you live and altitude can influence temperature readings and sensor performance.
    What is the accuracy of the Breville sensor? There could be differences between their sensor and yours that may introduce further errors in your testing.
    Also why didn't you use refrigerated water which is more like using refrigerated milk so that you more closely simulate how you would use the machine with milk? This potentially alters results. The machine may use a combination of time and heat sensor to inject steam and this may alter its performance.
    I'm not sure what the point of this video was

    • @Smedsters
      @Smedsters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know how accurate the thermometer is... that wasn't my point. You can check out reviews of it on Amazon. Since the Creatista Plus doesn't allow you to select how hot it prepares the milk based on a numeric temperature, this review was my attempt to affiliate some sort of temperature with the Creatista's "ideal", "hot", "very hot" settings. I didn't use cold water because the point was not to test how long it took to steam the milk but rather to what temperature each setting was.
