I just want to say thank you a thousand times to dj shiftee for taking the time to break this amazing scratch down I have watched countless videos on youtube about how to crab scratch asked people where to go to learn scratching and nothing has helped me up until i found this video i wathced this video once before work practiced it for 15 minutes almost got it then came home from work watched it one more time then suddenly i got it I must have been crab scratching for 2 hours straight!!
thanks. Any song with clean (not blocked by other instruments) vocals/sound fx, acappellas, scratch/break records designed for turntablists (dirtystyle, thudrumble, super duck breaks, scratch science, le jad, a-trak & craze, etc), but really anything you think of can be used for scratching.
Use the sharpest curve on your mixer. On the rane mixers, it's "FAST" or all the way way to the right depending on the mixer. Pioneer mixers, you want the one that looks like a table. Pretty much you want full sound as soon as you move the crossfader the slightest amount.
Man I’m so close to getting the scratch down but I’m having issues with starting with the fader on or off and then leaving the scratch with it on just doesn’t sound as clean this is hard
does the slope on the fader need to be zeroed out, i have too much fade and not enough cut? whats the best mixer for this or can i fix this on my numark?
I believe it's called "Aaah" and can be found as the first track on the sample CD "Superseal Breaks" Here's a link to the CD: discogs (dot) com/Skratchy-Seal-SuperSeal-Breaks/release/233258
8:19 Don't talk with ya mouth full! LOL I wanna start dj'in, tho I'm 14. However, I would NEVER let you put salsa, juice, etc., THAT close to my set :D
This guy is so goofy, you can click on the video to pause and click again to play and hit #3 on your keyboard repeatedly... and that motion seems so natural to shiftee since hes such a goof ball!!!!

Man I’m so close to getting the scratch down but I’m having issues with starting with the fader on or off and then leaving the scratch with it on just doesn’t sound as clean this is hard
one question, is your turntable in reverse? if the cross fader is on right left vinyl is playing?
@scratchgonzo yup your kinda right, but theres two types 3 finger open fader start and 4 finger closed start

I practice the movement with my hands all the time but when i attempt it, it doesnt go well :(
does the slope on the fader need to be zeroed out, i have too much fade and not enough cut? whats the best mixer for this or can i fix this on my numark?
what sound is he using on the side he's scratching with?
does a vestex, rane, or denon mixer have a bigger crossfader than a stanton beginner mixer??
im gonna eat sum nachos with salsa while i practice :)
isn't this technically an orbit if the fader starts open?
Which song is he playin with this sound?
Im On Numark Ns7 So How Are You Closing the cross fader, Im trying but it doesnt sound like that
How do you set xFade curve for crab? Or is it maybe linear?
whats the beat hes scratching to???
what breaks are you scratching over?
Wouldn't that scratch like really scratch the record or is that why the call it an "scratch"???
i will never let somebody put salsa this close of my set
best Vinyl to scratch (IMO) Super Seal
dj shiftee is hilarious omg,
AAAHHHHH!! SALSA!!!!
When are we gonna get some "not fat free habenero spicy" scratch vids????!!
I've spent years try to learn how to do this. If you have a stiff thumb the level of difficulty is Nintendo god mode hard, as in damn near impossible.
He just double dipped the chip!
I want some now. Lmao.
Saving this for myself, pay no attention
it's a scratch track designed to do exactly what he's doing with it.
hey what beat is that?
yo wherez the schoo at B ??
@DJeighty6 also like shiftee shows a 4 finger open fader start^
Antonio Banderas would be DJing in Once Upon A Time In Mexico xD
All up in the red!! lol

@DJAIRMAYNE
What do you mean? If you haven't already, turn your crossfader contour all the way to the right for the sharpest cuts possible.
its a scratching sample. if you want it inbox me. same for others as well!
