- In the south of the Philippines, on the island of Mindanao, modernity has not yet taken over completely. In the heart of Bukidnon province, the rice harvesting cycles dictate the pace of life. After each harvest, the small village of Kalabugao, perched on the mountain, hands over its precious cargo to drivers and brokers responsible for selling it at the market. The 70-kilometer journey to the market, usually a 6-hour trip, can extend over several days during the rainy season due to mudslides and landslides. Time is of the essence for rice delivery because every hour of delay increases the risk of the rice spoiling. Further south, in the Compostela Valley, peculiar trucks named "Saddam," after the former Iraqi dictator, make their daily rounds. Their task is to serve the isolated gold mines, carrying bags of precious stones extracted at great risk by the miners.

FYI: Philippines has 3 main islands they are Luzon- where the capital Manila is located, the economic powerhouse of the country. Visayas- 3rd largest but the second prosperous because of Cebu, the most important economic hub after Manila. Lastly, Mindanao- the second biggest but still undeveloped because of war, terrorism and political clan clashing.
* This video was in Mindanao. People there are trying to survive everyday. Many projects was given by the National Government but due to corrupt politicians many of that didn't materialized. That's why people in Mindanao went to Manila and Cebu and other countries to find work.

*YIKES!* I was a commercial driver, and even if their roads were decent (which they aren't), I wouldn't *_EVER_* drive that close to a crumbling edge that falls thousands of feet! *PURE INSANITY!*

The old woman is a famous personality not only in the country but in some parts of the world. Just recently, she was featured in Time magazine for her cultural 😅ingenuity. This road was fast-tracked and concreted by the Duterte administration. Now the farmer can pass the road easily and without hassle.
..i'm just wonderin'' why the journey started from naga (city? - bicol region) that's supposed to end at buscalan (kalinga - cordillera region), where apo wang od lives., 2 different regions so unlike each other and I fail to see the connection, for there is very little or none at all., except both are in the island of luzon.. people indeed far and wide travels to buscalan to get a tattoo from apo, if their lucky, but you don't start in naga..hehe.. dramatics? just to be fair and clear.
