Simone Kermes is a wonderful singer and I'm happy to own her CDs. She has character too and lives her roles, owns her singing and 'acting'. This is a great example of her artistic expression. Gotta love her. Thanks for uploading, it's still of great actuality all these years later.
Simone Kermes' voice and vocal technique are well suited for Baroque arias, well focused notes, pure tone, sensitive musical interpretations. From my having listened for many years to various sopranos and altos, I would say these fine qualities are uncommon. Hearing her sing is a welcome treat.
I couldn't put it better, so often music like this is spoilt but sopranos trained in the 19th century grand opera tradition. This music requires a totally different approach.

¿Por qué en el mundo operístico se ataca tanto a esta cantante?¿Tan poco dotada es? No tendrá una voz potente (ya no vivimos en el siglo XIX, hay micrófonos) pero tiene un timbre muy agradable, es teatral en sus gestos (otras parecen robots en escena)y una sensibilidad musical y emocional que otras cantantes con mayor técnica no poseen. Algunos valoramos esto por encima de una técnica impoluta o una voz espectacular. ¿Cuál es entonces el fallo de esta cantante a la que tanto critican?
