A Warning About Angi Ads and Angi Leads - One Man's Tale

  • ✅ I can help you get more leads without Angi or other resellers: contractors.ad...
    A poor fella called me on Saturday seeking my help. Unfortunately, I get these calls multiple times a week, and usually, it's too late for me to do much besides help them not make the same mistakes again.
    I think it's important for these stories to be heard by professionals and consumers alike. These companies are aggressive and will happily take your money regardless of whether or not you get value for it. Be careful and don't put in your debit card information unless you're 100% aware of wtf is going on.
    Want my team to get you more customers? Click here: contractors.ad...
    Thanks for watching.

    Thank you for your warning. I just got my contractor license and before the ink was dry I got a call from ANGI Leads pro. They told me the same thing. There are people in my area needing ornamental iron railing and they don't have anyone on ANGI who builds it. Long story short I ended up buying $300 worth of leads for a lifetime membership. This was a special offer. Then I started watching your videos and I felt uneasy about the whole thing. I read under the terms and conditions that I can only get a refund if I do it within 72 hours though customer service. Luckily I was able to get ahold of them on a Saturday and cancel though Accounting. I did have to mention I read the terms and conditions several times. I ended up getting a full refund and canceling my membership. Thank you for telling us these stories about this company. Nathan

      He is talking about Angi Ads. Monthly charges, contract termination fee etc...Aside from that, he is lying about adding debit card before finishing the application, because not angi ads nor angi leads allow this to happen. He got called by a literal scammer.
      Aside from that, he didn't gather ANY information regarding either side.
      This also comes to how these particular folks used the system. On the Leads side(formerly homeadvisor), the ones I work for, I go through EVERY facet of your area, exactly what job you want, zip codes and areas you don't want taken out and areas you do want being the only ones. We do NOT provide memberships if there is little or no work in your area. Now Angi Ads(formerly Angie's List) is used for more of advertising and marketing vs adding straight homeowners.
      Notice he is saying all of this but ends with "Make sure you verify who they are multiple times", that's he is explaining literally getting calls from actual scammers trying to act as Angi Ads(as everything he explained was angi ads, he didn't even know which side he was talking about. Then he added HIS COMPANY at the end. Notice he said "TRYING TO SUE THEM WITH A LAWSUIT". That's because if you fall for a scammer, but try to come for the legit business....its a fail. Angi Leads also gives you a Guarantee, which ensures that if you can not or DO not close one of the first 10 leads you are sent, your money is refunded anyway. Even down to any leads you paid for in that time. On the flip side, one of our memberships is simply prepaying $750 ONE TIME, that's a lifetime membership AND we throw $1000 into your account to use for your first leads.
      This man is simply promoting his own business while squandering the largest lead and directory company in the nation. We don't have 300k contractors utilizing us for nothing.
      Also we vet homeowners with 10-20 questions from what they are looking to pay down to ready to hire or planning/budgeting. This guy is full of it.
      Angi Leads is actually extremely beneficial to new contractors, as it lets you limit your competition in the area to just 1-2 other contractors because our homeowners aren't sent to anyone who isn't angi certified in our network.
      I can literally show you some of the folks i have under me and instantly prove this guys whole video as a load of BS. The insane part is that a good portion of my pipeline IS new contractors. We don't make money if you don't make money, so even getting you onboard doesn't give the company anything. If I give you a call right now the opening would definitely be "My name is Aubrey with Angi leads, how are you doing today" and that is because we want you to know it is Angi calling. The next 10min would be me and you discussing ANY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS. Take a look at your area, look at coverage and see how many folks are requesting. If its less than 10, even if you say you want them, I will not sign you in that area, because what will happen, especially to a new contractor, is you'll receive 3 or 4 of them as leads, call them up, land them, but after they are done youve cleared the entire coverage area....you wont be successful that way and neither will I. But if there are 50+ looking, thats easy money BECAUSE you are now against 1 other guy, among 50+ leads...you are winning either way. Take heed to these types of videos. Good Luck out there man.

I called pretending to be Angi asking how the service went. The person told me they have never hired an Angi contractor. They are fully exposed. Look up the FTC complaint from 3/11/22. I started off on a bad foot with them but it was also in part because I didn’t understand how to use the app/referrals. If you click to accept, then you are getting charged. Keep your skill set to one maybe two things. Maybe 1 or 2 zip codes max. Budget how many referrals you are willing to pay for monthly. It can be confusing. And not all leads are good. It’s also really important to call potential customer asap because you aren’t the only one getting the lead. It’s distributed to several. There’s also a lot of people “just shopping”. And that will cost you. I don’t use them anymore.

      Hey Nora! Houston is a very competitive market and roofing is a very competitive niche. I would take a look at the competition and figure out all the ways they are getting clients. As with every local business, you'll want to have a professional website and be on Google Maps with as many reviews as possible. Other ways roofers are getting jobs is going door to door, cold calling, advertising on Google and Facebook, sending out mailers, etc. Keep doing research and take some action and you'll figure it out.

    Cancelled ours due to trash leads. Everything from bogus phone numbers, no call backs, work already completed, and just tire kicking. They often refused to refund / credit the bad lead and even try to negotiate how much of the credit they will give back. Only about 2 out of every 10 leads panned out and the leads were expensive. So, on small jobs with low profit margins, one could work a job or two for free just to pay for the bad leads they refuse to reimburse.

    Man I wish I found this video earlier. I'm currently 1.5 months into an Angi Ads contract and it's the worst marketing platform experience I've ever had. I've received 65 leads so far and have only closed 2 deals. The quality of leads I get are a major concern. All the leads I have gotten in contact with are older folks with pocket change to pay for a service, leads that don't answer the phone, spam leads, leads that are out of our scope of work, etc. Unfortunately I did not read the contract well enough to see the 35% cancellation fee. When I talked to my account manager she openly told me that the marketing/developer team was currently working on a solution for unqualified leads. I am outraged that hard advertisers are being used as test subjects for a corrupt business. At this point I'm wondering if I intentionally get my account terminated by Angi if I will have to pay that 35% fee?

    Message to anyone using Angie to schedule service, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "ESTIME FOR REPAIR" !!!! Diagnosing your equipment is not free, thats what I spent thousands at trade school to learn, its what I do for a living, its what I get paid for. If you submit a work request do not say you want "an estimate for repair", no contractor will take that kind of non-work. Estimate does not mean free !!!

    • @Bbbbbbbbbbb-f1w
      @Bbbbbbbbbbb-f1w ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, mechanics will first diagnose the problem, THEN tell you how much it will cost to repair. That estimate is free.

    • @johnbipper4601
      @johnbipper4601 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bbbbbbbbbbb-f1w So you agree, there is no such thing as a free estimate. I charge for going out, my diagnosis is no longer free, if they agree to the repair then it gets absorbed in the total cost of the job. Almost anyone can replace most parts, a few screws and a wire nut but when you tell the customer whats wrong they'll replace it themselves. Customers order the parts and replace them after I diagnosed the issue and I lose gas, time and the lead fee.

    Angi did the same thing to me/us 4 months ago. They called & said they were getting loads of clients needing our help. Then they wanted us to try them out for 90 days. They guaranteed between 30-50 quality / value leads a month for the next 3. We went over categories & they sent us jobs that didn't match the categories we discussed. For example, we aren't Electricians and they sent us a couple leads where the clients were needing licensed Electricians. They also assigned us a Representative & we could never get him to return our calls or emails. We tried hard to cancel this after 30 days b/c it was obvious they over promised & were under delivering. Now that its been 90 days. We received 8 leads total. 2 needed a licensed Electrician (which we are not). 2 said they had already hired someone earlier that day (even though we received the lead less than 5 minutes prior to calling them) & the others were very low value jobs. One of the leads asked how much we would charge to move a piece of furniture (we are audio/ video & security dealers), not furniture movers. We told her our rate was $200 for the 1st hour & she said she would move it herself for that price??? Wasted $1200 ($400 for 3 months). When they called to ask us if we would continue the Angi Ads portion, I said 'NO WAY!' Then, "why won't the Rep return any of my calls or emails?' She said she would pass it on, but then after a week, nothing. Today we received our 2nd renewal call & I told her the same thing... 'NO WAY.' She said she would have the Rep call me. I told her that won't happen & to cancel our Angi Ads. She said she couldn't do that, but the Rep can & she will make sure he calls me. I'll hold my breath... Ha, Ha. Live and learn. Angi Ads was a huge disappointment & I highly recommend anyone looking for leads, to find another option. Not one lead was of any value & we didn't land a single job. We tried, their program just doesn't work (at least for us).

      I’ve talked to and heard from thousands of contractors and for every 1 person who has had success buying leads from Angi there are 20 that don’t.
      I’m not saying it can’t work. For some it does. It’s very dependent on circumstances such as how much demand there is in your area and how many competitors you have on the platform.
      In my professional experience there are more reliable options when it comes to marketing and lead generation for contractors. For those companies that want to exhaust all of the possible lead sources, eventually they’ll probably want to add Angi and other lead resellers to their list of sources. They will be lower ROI than other sources but that’s just the way it goes.
      If Angi didn’t require long term contracts, they wouldn’t upset as many people.
      Thanks for the comment.

    I’ve never used Angi Ads so I’m guessing this video is about that business but right off the bat I can tell this is a fake story. All businesses are required by law to cancel and rebate the customer if cancelled within 72 hours. Your making a video providing false info then at the end promoting yourself. Great you have to bash your competitors and spread false info to gain customers. Sad just sad. That said I do however use Angi Leads. First off I don’t have a contract so no cancellation costs or obligations. Second my account I set a monthly budget for $500 so I never spend more than that every month. The girl that set me up had me pay 750 upfront to get started and that money was just used to pay for the leads I got when I started my account. After that I just paid for each lead as it came in. For about every $100-150 i spend on my flooring leads i profit $4k depending on the floor type etc. Its been working great for me. Sounds like you have no clue how Angi operates. 😂
    This guy is just trying to trick you into trusting him and pay him for his service. Ask yourself why make a video that negatively targets a competitor then tries to sell you his service. He is probably losing business and needs to bash the competition to stay afloat. sad
