Learning to Hear God?

  • Christians want to live in God's will, but often struggle to hear his voice so they can make decisions according to his will. Greg challenges us to reconsider this whole modern paradigm and and embrace a Biblical view of God's will and decision making that will release the Christian to make Godly decisions.

Thanks. Good thoughts. I've been taught that if I have to make a decision to think through and research all my options, make a decision then let God know this is my decision and if it's wrong to let me know the way He knows best. Sometimes if it's wrong I'll just forget it. And sometimes if it's wrong it will just not be able to be done because of all the "roadblocks"
Then again if it's alright it will feel right and even if it takes effort to accomplish it can still get done.
I have struggled with people saying God tells them directly when to move and where to live and what jobs to have. So I appreciate this video. I take a breath and I just talked with God and include Holy Spirit/ Jesus in my life as often as I can throughout each day. Praising Him and thanking Him really heightens my day. 💚

I love how both Tripp and Greg were focused on the beauty of nature around them.

Great conversation. I loved the little drive around the neighborhood. Looks different from my neighborhood!
Acts 1:20-26 describes how the disciples chose a replacement for Judas by checking scripture (Psalms 69:25 and 109:8) for the principle and for God’s heart and character, then using their collected wisdom - even before the Holy Spirit came- came up with a plan, then they prayed and took a vote and chose Matthias.
I love that. You have all these elements but no “feeling” or even need for confirmation. They were confident and a decision was made.
After the Holy Spirit, in Acts 21:9-14, Paul is given a Word not to go to Jerusalem, but he goes anyway knowing the consequences, he suffers arrest and is almost killed but is rescued for the time being, though ultimately he does die for Christ. (acts 22:25; 23:21-24)
It seems Paul did what he wanted as his primary want was to honor Christ and spread the gospel, even when the prophecy said he would be arrested and turned over. He chose to go into the fire knowing full well the danger but trusting He was not alone and that was not a wrong decision to do so because he loved God with all his heart and was ready to die for Him iif that’s what it would take.
So, if our motive is to serve Christ, and we have counted the cost, and are ready and willing to pay, we are free to make choices like Paul with faith, confidence and courage, know God will not leave or forsake us, even to the death. Nothing done for Christ and the gospel will be wasted or a wrong decision. I think that is a big part of decision making. How will I best serve and honor Christ?
Thank you for putting such care into making such a creative video! I really enjoyed the ride! God bless.

Please get some mics that isolate your voices. The sound of the car was so distracting and the conversation was undermined by it , but nevertheless it was excellent. Thank you for sharing. What is your friends name and where can we get his book/series?

Also, you get a lot of complaints over the engine noise. I listen to you via headphones and I have very seldom had to rewind because I couldnt hear. And even when I did, good thing theres a rewind button :)

My first car was a 70 blue bug!
It had a crank open sunroof, and was an automatic stick shift.

I think Greg would just say that they didn't "learn" to hear God. In fact there was no mistaking when God spoke to them.

That's the point. God spoke to then and they heard clearly. Their words are part of the way He speaks to us.
