Why would dwarves of all beings be afraid of bats? I truly believe the people that write this show believe that mining gold is just finding treasure.
Last I heard, dwarves are afraid of rocks, minerals, darkness, carving stuff, bats, gold & mithril, being underground …. 🪨

I was really hoping to see Sauron hit on more women by comparing their hair to Galadriel’s. Instead he addressed all 12 people in Eregion and told them not to mind the obvious orc army outside approaching their walls. Which of course they did until the orcs started catapulting flaming rocks at them. Simply brilliant.
Galadriel: "Unlock me"
Adar: "Oh baby I'll unlock you"
So let me get this straight, because I can't watch the series to protect my mental health:
- Bad Orc leader guy knows where sauron is and also who he is. But cut "Where is he?" into a dead guy for the elves and Sauron to find. The effect that it has, Sauron is warned now. How does this make any sense?
- Bad orc leader guy wants to kill Sauron, which seems to be the reason of his whole existence -> Decides against help and attacks rather alone, despite of being warned
- Elendil should renounce his crimes in order to live. So what this means in essence is: If he doesn't want to be executed, he should stop saying he did crimes.
- Numenor leaders doesn't know the law. High treason is not punished because someone else jumped into the water and came back. Because that's all they could see
- The citation "Many that die deserve life, many that live deserve death" completely random in context of saving someone, which just shows that the writers didn't understand Tolkien at all and in addition takes away the credit of these words from Gandalf and thereby makes Gandalf just look like an idiot that parrots Tom Bombadil's "wisdom"
- Dwarf princess can, out of nothing, can summon bats with a scream to scare miners away, that are used to be working in these conditions for nearly 100s of years. Who doesn't come back after the bats are gone.
- The making of the rings for the humans is displayed as a race against time, as if they needed to be finished before the orcs take over the city. Why? Why is it so urgent that these rings are finished now and then? They won't save the city
It all seems so... worthless. Like random ideas put in there to display something the writers want to show.

To clarify, I think the "Where is he?" was intended to mean "Where is he in Eregion?"
"Elendil should renounce his crimes"
Elendil's crimes are refusing to acknowledge Pharazon as king. To be released he just has to announce his support of Pharazon.
Book Elendil didn't have much of a choice in the matter. The main thing be did, from what I recall, is he didn't join the war against the Valar and instead remained behind in Numenor with Miriel. Elendil became suspicious and set sail because he had an ill omen, staying away from Numenor as it was washed away by the sea.
Miriel actually became regent because Pharazon went to war with the valar. As Pharazon's wife, she became regent in his absence. She drowned along with Numemor. But I suspect in this series she's going to go with Elendil.
"They won't save the city"
Correct, that's why Celebrimbor is being brainwashed into thinking there's not an active threat. The urgency is on Sauron to have Celebrimbor finish the rings before the orcs kill him.
Its handled VERY poorly of course, but Sauron wanted this invasion to happen. He just wanted to finish the rings first and he had trouble manipulating Celebrimbor into completing them.
@@jrconway3 I see, thank you for the clarification and real background from Tolkien! Still, it's very questionable what decisions the writers here made... literally unfathomable. This could have been way better handled and could have been made really interesting. For example what is the point with the message "Where is he"? Just to "scare" or warn Sauron? The whole Numenor scene where the want-to-be-leader doesn't know the law and it was spontaneously put in there, the "sea is alwas right" nonsense etc
@@DieBieneFranzIn the book lore, Annatar had the elven smiths forge the rings and the elves received the rings. Celebrimbor made three more rings after Annatar left.
Annatar/Sauron forges the One Ring hoping to control the elves, but they are able to resist enough to take off the rings before he can do anything. THAT is when he attacks Eregion to steal the rings.
These two events are two separate events in the book. Trying to combine it into one event is needlessly overcomplicating it.
They could have handled this better by having Annatar in Eregion from the start of the series already forging rings. The 9 and the 7 are made first.
Celebrimbor is suspicious, so after Annatar leaves he forges the three in secret right at the end.
Then they can still have the siege of Eregion in Season 2, but it would make WAY more sense.
Numenor shouldn't even be present at this point (there's not much important for Numenor to do while the rings are being forged), but if they WANT to make it present, and condense the timeline, Numenor could still pull its crap in the "Southlands" from Season 1.
Better yet, Southlands should just be Mordor, and we can just have Numenor defend the region that would later become Gondor from an orc invasion from Mordor to show how badass Numenor is.

There is no way, *there is no way!* That a whole room of nepo baby, ivy league educated writers, who's first language is English, *confused denounce and renounce!* English is my third language. I don't live in an English speaking country. I'm a Turk from the Netherlands. Even I know the difference. You "denounce" your crimes (publicly declare them evil and wrong). Not renounce which is giving up a position or right or something. For example. "I renounce my right to droit du seigneur!" (aka jus primea noctis, the right of a lord .. to take the bride to bed on her wedding night lol) vs "I denounce my past crimes of banditry." And you know what's messed up, I learned English mostly from movies, games, books. How is it possible, for these people to make such a mistake. I can see a single person make that mistake, maybe they're tired whatever. I mean the words are very similar. But these things are written by entire committees, entire rooms of people who went to very expensive private schools and unis. But it's even worse, because not even the actors, crew, editors etc. No one seems to have caught that

What a mystical time to have been alive when veins of precious metals and minerals were pre-shaped into random goblets, scimitars, chainmail and Kazad-dum standard currency units. I can only imagine that Gandalf's staff will already have a perfect fist sized canary tourmaline gem imbedded in it.

The vibe here reminds me of the old "DM of the Rings" webcomic because one way to make sense of Rings of Power is to pretend its a bad D&D game where the incompetent DM has forgotten half the lore from the source book and the players are only half paying attention.

I find now I am looking forward to the weekly release of Lets Laugh at Rings of Power. This mocking of ROP is easily the funniest and most creative on the internet.
