I'd have to say, when it comes to a new wolverine in the cinematic universe. I'd have to go with a unknown actor. They tend to bring out characters the best.

I personally don't want them to bring in jean Grey cyclops or wolverine until much much later because the heavy focus on those 3 killed the x-men movies
I think if theyre going to use a known actor, Tarin Edgerton would be perfect. Hes the dude from the Kingsmen movies. Great actor, good in action scenes and has a great sense of humor. Plus hes young enough to carry the character for awhile.

Thanks Rob, Wolverine has always been my favorite character in comics, especially when his character is well written. I remember the first time I saw his character was the Marvel’s guide to the X-Men book I bought at a book fair in back in 1990. I was intrigued by the character design and mysterious origin of the character in the book. Then years later watching the X-Men cartoon on Fox. How no one knew much about his history not even him. Then he finds out many of the memories he has were false so he couldn’t even trust the memories he did have. Also how the cartoon would give hints or flesh out parts of his past. That cartoon is what really got me into comics. With the Wolverine origins run, I kinda felt like, Marvel was like, Fox is gonna make a Wolverine solo movie because of his popularity and they didn’t want a movie establishing his origin before the comics did.
What do you think about Clint Eastwood’s son playing the role? I don’t know if he’s got the acting chops but he kinda looks the part, minus being 5’3”

Wolverine has been one of those characters that has always been in the pop culture during my life but I never knew that much about him outside of: Canadian, short, berserker at times, and worked on the X-Men.
YO! i like that the guy who did the punisher on netflix Jon Bernthal. he got the size and does berserker better than anyone.

Scott Eastwood to play Wolverine. For a couple of reasons. Firstly, Tom Hardy is in his 40s, which means that it won't be that long before he struggles with age the way that Hugh Jackman is now, while Scott Eastwood is about the same age as Hugh Jackman was when he started playing the character. Second, a lot of Wolverine's character quirks were taken from characters played by Scott Eastwood's father. Finally (and most importantly), he is a good actor who has shown that he can play a complex hard case before.
I agree with most of what you said. Hardy is definitely too old. But I dont know about Scott. I would really rather see them find a virtual unknown like they did with Jackman. I mean he had been in theater but he was not known by most anyone in the public or in Hollywood.
Ben Vaun Jackman had a bigger body of film work than Eastwood does, but it was primarily Australian - which means a heavy emphasis on character interaction and dialogue, and it also means that he was a fresh face in America (basically the same reasons they keep casting Australian actors in Hollywood roles). They're not going to risk that character on an unknown, he's too important.
I don't know about Scott, he doesn't look as intimidating as Hugh or maybe it's because I'm just so used seeing Hugh as Wolvie. I think there are British actors who can be a good Wolverine.
There are other actors besides Tom Hardy and Scott Eastwood. The latter has yet to prove himself as a leading man. I think people are fan casting based on a particular look. His expressions were taken from his father?! I've never even heard that reason before but still, that's his father. There is more to casting for a role than facial expressions of one's father.
Kip Crawley you obviously didn't read what I typed. You are 100% right that Scott Eastwood has yet to prove himself though. However, he has more credits to him than a bunch of other actors his age, and unless you're expecting Canada to produce another leading man named Ryan, or holding out hope for the other Hemsworth to step into the role (yes, there are three of them), it's probably gonna be a guy somewhere around 30 who's still unknown enough to sign that eight picture deal but who has a famous enough name that the studio execs won't freak out about putting him in a significant role.
As a Canadian I always thought it was cool that Wolverine was Canadian. It made me like the character even more.
I would like to see a new actor that resembles much more to the original design of wolverine, short, bulky and with a wild look.

When Hugh played him, he was a relatively unknown actor to the action masses.
They seem to just not give roles like that to big stars because it’s hard to see them as that role. RDJr had been off the map for a while before Iron Man so he was able to own the role as he returned.
With that said. It needs to be somebody gritty, tough, sturdy and intimidating.
True. A lot of the big Marvel characters are played by people who aren't very known to the current mainstream fans. I would like for them to get a unknown actor to play him as that usually works the best compared to getting popular actors to play the role.

I think we need to go the Spider-Man approach for who plays superheroes for now on. What I mean by that is there is always the concern on how will that actor can do justice to the character. So why not flush out clearly and precisely what the character is and how the
character should be acted as and pick an unknown actor to play him/her. This seems to have worked out pretty well for Spider-Man right now.

Nail on the head rob....the combo of his origin and his arch nemesis origin both being connected and still a mystery was what kept us asking for more.
Scott Eastwood is perfect for Wolverine! Especially since he is the spitting image of his father Clint Eastwood who has many times been likened to Wolverine and rumored to have been one of the original inspirations for the character.

I don't know who should play him. Nobody can top Hugh Jackman, so I'm just waiting for Wolverine vs Deadpool. I started getting comic books from the drug store beside my apt as a child in the 80s, and X-Men was my favourite because of Wolverine. The fact he was Canadian is what drew me to him!
Tom Hardy is a great choice but even he himself said his body is too wrecked. He has been training hard since 07 or so but he didn't do it the right way. Little to no cartilage left in many of his joints. He is much older now then say 2012 when he could of been Wolverine in his prime. We need someone small, hairy and a bit on the ugly side. Not Hollywood handsome.
Danny Devito should be the next Wolverine, he meets the credentials. He is short, surly and his role as the Trash Man proves he can be gritty and violent when called upon.

I want to see Scott Eastwood play Wolvie in the MCU. He is shorter than Jackman, has the Clint Eastwood glare, is young enough to carry the role for 10-15 years, and has a rough look about him. Plus he can act, which is the most important part. As for Tom Harding, my biggest concern is that he is playing Venom in the Sony stuff. Suppose Disney buys the rights back or agrees to merge the Venom stuff into the Marvel Universe so Spiderman can interact with Venom. That would complicate things.

When wolverine gets to the MCU Disney NEEDS to cast an absolute nobody. Someone completely unrecognizable who none of us have ever heard of, like Hugh Jackman was when he first landed the role (for those of you too young to remember Hugh Jackman had never been in a Hollywood movie before the first X-Men and only had two low budget Australian independent movies on his résumé.). The real reason Hugh Jackman worked so well as wolverine for so long is because he was a clean slate none of us of had ever seen before and since we didn’t know him from any other roles it was so much easier to see him as Logan instead of just an actor playing Logan. We need that again.
I wonder who they are going to get to replace Hugh Jackman as wolverine in the MCU?

The moment you were posing the question on who should play the new Wolverine, I instantly thought of Tom Hardy, too. He's a guy who's got a similar appearance to Hugh Jackman, so people could still identify with the character, and also he's young, badass and dedicated enough to embody the character from a physical standpoint.

In my opinion, as a lifetime Wolverine fan, he should be played next by an unknown. The studio (I guess Disney... ugh...) should have to find someone with no resume that should fit the bill. Likely a gymnast or MMA fighter, but his appearance in cinema should be as mysterious as his appearance in the original medium.

i agree with ya Rob, Tom Hardy could be a good choice for a new Wolverine. But he's already played Venom and people most likely will know him from his role as Eddie. And that could cause a bit of confusion if he was then chosen to play as another Marvel character.
Genisis rebonding attempt is what created feral wolverine. The first reveal of him is right before he kills Genisis. Is was to much trauma for him to take.
Wolverine getting his adamantium back was great! Fighting sabretooth for it.. then sabretooth getting adamantium from the weapon x program when it popped back up! That was a dope period for wolverine too…two things..one..please cover enemy of the state! It’s the best story! And John romita jr is amazing..and two please cover the weapon x series from that period!

Can Rob please do a video on the exiles and the squadron supreme since they are kind of important in the Marvel universe and people should know about them since they are not going to appear in the MCU movies or TV series.
As a huge Wolverine fan, the only thing youve missed is the most recent development of Phoenix Force Wolverine, set in the distant future. Its shown off specifically in the recent Thor run!
