God dam! give this man an award... or money... or a cuddle or something. These videos are so easy to follow along. I wish I had a teacher like this back in the day. Thanks again for the great content
I've wrecked my whole brain for the past innumerable years.. To understand this pathway..... And here comes this God of a man to explain it in 4minutes!!!! Thank you so very much
THIS IS WOW, MAN YOU HAVE DONE IN 4 MINUTES WHAT OTHERS WERE NOT ABLE TO DO IN HRS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A NICE, BEAUTIFUL AND CRISPY EXPLAINATION.
Very nice Doc.. very simple..i wish i had a teacher like you to teach neurophysiology..i have seen a few other videos of the neuroscience... extremely helpful..
Preparing for my PhD prelim, going over some basics, and this was a very nice and concise description of these brain regions and their interconnectivity in PD. Thank you.
Helpful content Hey I would love to discuss more concerning this disease, my grandpa has it If yes kindly send me a email or message me on hangout taylorracheal2@gmail.com ...🇺🇸will look out for your text or email by tomorrow bye
Really good, excellent way to show how the basal ganglia work; only, the projections between the basal ganglia and the thalamus aren't inhibitory neurons? so actually the direct pathway leads to an inhibition of those neurons, leading to increased thalamic activation; whilst the indirect pathway gives an excitatory feedback to the same projections, activating the inhibitory neurons and reducing thalamic neutrons activation and halting movement?
😭Gosh this feels very scary to me, as somebody with movement disorder.. I was given Maxolon aka reglan and it affected my basal ganglia.. TD parkinsonism stiffness cramps spasm and tics. It can happen from a dopamine suppressor. When I went to the neurologist, I asked if this could be the reason our two youngest children have tourettes. Taking anti-nausea dopamine suppressor during pregnancy. His answer was, most likely but more study needs to be done.. if this truly is the case, This kind of study is always worth more government grants. Please be careful of dopamine and serotonin suppressor medications during pregnancy. PubMed has hundreds of studies in this area. Also encouraging Professionals to join one or two support groups in the area they specialise in. Often very beneficial on both sides, to be a fly on the wall. I'm saying all of this because parkinsonism means drug-induced Parkinson's and we have to start paying attention to labels like environmental factors. We rely on you guys, Not to encourage medications that will make our movement disorder worse. If it says may or may not make it the condition worse, it really needs to be explained properly. I encourage everybody to listen to the pharmacists when they are explaining prescription medications If your prescriptions instructs you to wean off the medication and never go cold turkey. Please always pay attention to that.. This is such a huge subject on both sides full stop and three huge keywords in the upload title thank you
Excellent video to be sure. But I am so curious as to the actual methods, tests, scans, procedures that science uses to determine the fascinating and important information you present. How do scientists scan the living human body to find out how all these intricate chemical pathways work? Thanks so much!
Great question. The answer is that disease when a patient is living combined with a postmortem and dissection of the brain with examination under the microscope helps determine the cause of the disease. Everyone with Parkinson disease has pale substantia nigra on postmortem - tonnes of information then leads to our understanding via deduction
there are some misconceptions actually!! dr.mike when signals are sent from the Globus palidus internus (GPi) to the thalamus is to carry an inhibitory message to the thalamus and GPi is involved in the indirect pathway whereas the GPe is involved in the direct pathway by releasing GABA on subthalamic nucleus to inhibits it as the function of subthalamic nucleus is to activate the GPi which is involved in the indirect pathway!!
Parkinson disease is a very terrible illness, my Dad suffered from it for 19 years until we finally got a help and a medicine that truly works that helped treat, cure and reversed all his symptoms. My Dad is well again…
This doctor is giving me motivation to ace my exams as well as joining the gym next month after exams
Yup

Parkinson disease is a very terrible illness, my Dad suffered from it for 19 years until we finally got a help and a medicine that truly works that helped treat, cure and reversed all his symptoms. My Dad is well again…
You guys are amazing
I was not expecting that mustache after seeing him clean shaven in so many videos 😂 Had to do a double take 😂😂
👨🏻
You save my vivas🙌🔥
crystal clear!
Thank u
legend
and nice stache
I don't get it. If pathway started with person deciding to move how comes that he has "resting" not "intentional tremor" ?
Quick question. When you say start stop which processes are you referring to? The motor cortex signal and then the absence of dopamine?
It's the moustache for me😂You look funny in a moustache😂
Nice video❤
Thank you!!
You explained this so simply it makes me want to DIE
very helpful thank u❤
Does Dopamine have any role in first path? normal situation? or it just plays a role in Parkinson situation?
The best 👏👏thank uu
Thankyou so much!!!
Thankyou sooo much sir
Benzodiazepines damaged my brain/nervous system . I've been clean for 3 years but, It feels like I have parkinson's sometimes.
Sir,does Prefrontal cortex inhibit sexual motor response with the help of basal ganglia in human being?
Make it simple🙏
My uncle is suffering from Parkinson disease. What drug can I buy for him?
Thanks man
Really helpful, Thank you :)
Love it! Thank you Dr.!
Oh my God .. finally 😫
the bestest! thank you
