Swiatek's footwork is as good as it gets--man or woman. The micro-adjustments she makes are pristine. I love watching her play.
Well that's weird, I was thinking the opposite. I find she has to adjust a lot with the rest of the body because her feet are not well positioned. She does that well, no doubt about that.

@@knotwilg3596 I agree with you. I don't think she has a very elegant style. I would put her closer to Medvedev on the "elegance" spectrum - effective but not very pleasing on the eye. Players like Muchova, Barty or Ons are closer to Fed on the "elegance" spectrum in my opinion..

2:56 min highlights?? Are you joking? This is a QF match at a grand slam event. No wonder they didn't show some other amazing shots from both players, especially Iga's phenomenal winning return down the line after Coco's first serve. I'm also really disappointed by Kader Nouni's serious mistake that cost Iga a game. Such mistakes shouldn't happen at this level.

Yes and i may know the possible reason why! That's because everyone got sick and tired of the situation, where there is not a single dominant figure in female tennis! Iga seems like that figure, she can dominate tennis at least on one particular surface, unlike everyone else during last entire decade, where someone won a particular slam once or twice and then completely went off the grid for the entirety of ones career! Iga seems like the person, who can be winning one particular salm 5 times or even more!…
I wouldn't even be surprised that when all said and done she will set an all-time WTA title record for RG tournament! Currently this honour belongs to Chris Evert with 7 titles, but someone like Iga can challenge this title mark if she stays healthy and consistent for the vast majority of her career! I can't see anyone dominating one particular grand slam tournament in the foreseeable future, like Iga can dominate RG!…
My only wish that once in a while she be winning other grand slam tournaments outside of RG, even something like Wimby once, AO and USO 2 or 3 times each etc...

This went pretty much as expected. Coco put up some good resistance in that first set, but it wasn't enough. Iga is now 7 - 0 versus her.

Coco has got some chance against Iga in Wimbledon. I still would say 60-40 favouring Iga in grass too.

Iga hits the lines and corners like she’s playing doubles, which is how she wins so many points. It’s rare that she goes up the middle
And Coco’s balls last in the air for 5+ seconds and just sits for Iga to swing at it. Amazing from Iga, terrible from Coco, like always

Gauff's forehand is a big weakness, and it's on full display in this match, like Danny said here, her forehand returns with such slow pace it's easy to attack wherever Swiatek wanted

After long time, we are seeing top ranked womens' players performing consistently in most of the tournaments. Though they are very good on all surfaces, i feel like Iga is best on clay, sabalenka on hard and Elena on grass

@@paddie3698 Average for a top 20 player, pretty terrible for number one and someone with potential to win double digit grand slams if healthy. Although I would agree she's definitely working to improve it.
She was having major trouble with the moonballs to the BH in the first set, but after a nice text exchange with her coach during the bathroom break(which is still illegal), she came back with a new strategy to move to her FH side, problem solved, not by her, but by her coach.

@@wendellseldura5893 Not exactly, Iga probably would have Won in Rome, but pulled out with a health issue so she could have her best chance to Win in Roland Garros. Rybo's height advantage helps her Strong serving, and net play. But she is not the all around player that Iga is otherwise her ranking would be much higher. Iga is Human, and had her Winning streak stopped by Alize Cornet, a good player, but Not a top player, and Garcia beat her at the year end finals, so what, Also lost to Kryuchkova, (who has lost to a lot of other players since) Iga's Winning Stats, and Ranking speak for themselves.

I've never really been a fan of women's tennis, but I must say, Swiatek is amazing. She's the best female tennis player since Serena Williams imo.

I think Coco thought she'd done enough with that dinky little cross-court volley, and stood a little too long after it, I don't think she expected that to come back. I reckon she could've done more to get back into position - just in case.

Would have likely been a second set bagel if chair judge (via cheating or incompetence) didnt steal game 2 of the second set for Gauff. Clearly a double fault (Hawkeye confirmed it) but Gauff was given the game.
The umpire did steal the point from Iga, but let's not get carried away with bagel talk.

Swiatek is a bit like Steffi Graff, where her opponent thinks they've got her, only to watch the ball fly past them.

It was absolutely a scintillating appearance between Swiatek and Gauff. It was more ardous than the final clash of the last year in RG. In fact, there is a crucial progress which was vividly made by Coco Gauff from the last season. Dynamism and resilience of Gauff really nurtured in accordance with the previous seasons. It was absolutely a more consistent performance from Gauff. Especially, Gauff has delivered an amazing resistance in the first set. She didn't let Iga grab more possibilities. However, it is Iga SWIATEK. Even though Iga dropped some significant points against Gauff, I had predicted that she was smoothly going to demonstrate more resolute, perseverant and tenacious performance than Gauff in order to vanquish her forceful rival. Swiatek had a vast ascendancy and large supremacy in the second set. Physical and mental determinants were at the foreground within the process.

First competent player Gauff faces and she's out. Always seems to be the case. Flourishes on cupcake draws (gains 430 points in the race here for beating no one in the top 70!!), byes, & intimidated sub 50 lightweights. Anyone in the top 50 has a serious shot against her. Anyone in the top 20 is nearly a lock to beat her. Ranked #7 now but has three players on her tail who could conceivably knock her back to #10 or #11 after Wimbledon. If/when she falls back enough to stop getting these first round byes at tournaments she will be in trouble. Although, no sign of her chronic cupcake draws subsiding.
I think she’s a good player but definitely not top 10. I actually read that she has a 5-16 record against top 15 players since the start of 2022, which is abysmal for a top 10 player, but yeah, if she played actual quality unseeded opponents in the early rounds of slams like Anisimova last year at wimbledon, then she’d definitely not be top 10.
Somebody doesn't understand the life of a high seed. The other seeds were beaten. She is camped in the top 10 so those are the perks late in tournaments. Sorry that you live in fantasy world. Coco played well today. She is evolving before our time.

@@yasirahmed2789 She was just throttled by Badosa, Potapova & Bouzkova during clay season. Crushed on her best surface by #25-40 type players. She's not a legit top 10 & if/when she leaves the top 20 (I think this will happen in 2024) I don't believe she'll ever get back to top 10 status.

Coco actually pushed Iga, and she had a lot of put away shots that she missed. She's close now, giver her 1 or 2 more years.
Coco Gauff should be proud of this match. Usually people go in already defeated agains Iga but she made her work for it and has the best games against her that anyone has done in a long time.

Coco did not learn a thing from last year's final. Iga did not move out of 2nd gear.
I thought that as will Gouff upped her game a lot and still Iga coped well. Second set was too easy.
Coco actually played better today, especially tactics, she constructed shots better than before, but executed poorly, missed quite a few easy winners and opportunities to convert break points. I think today's match exposed more of her technical flaws, she needs to improve her precision.

Congrats Iga. Coco, I love the new game plan! High to the backhand. Similar to how Fed and Nole played Nadal. If your first serve was 10% higher the first set would have been easily yours. Keep attacking second serves especially on the forehand. It will start staying in! I love the evolution and excited to see you in the future.

I want these two to be friends so BAD. They are so good for the sport. Coco is getting better and you can see that Patrick is a GREAT influence on her game. She reverted back to bad habits in the 2nd, but if she can keep him helping her, I see a great grass and US hardcourt season ahead.
It's very hard to be friends, while being fierce competitors, but maybe after they retire.
coco does not have the weapons to succeed on grass. her best surface is clay but unless someone beats Iga, Sabalenka and Rybakina in the early rounds, she's not winning any grand slam title.

Economy, Quickness, Great aggressive anticipation, and Flexibility in movement, and hitting, she gets more with less than any tennis player right now male or female. SWATek = RaFedOvic Uber Top Spin of Rafa's Forehand, Consistency of Fed, Moves, and returns like Djokovic. That is a Trifecta + that is Very Potent. Once she improves her serve, and net play a bit she will be almost unstoppable. Funny to see so much pedestrian, shallow, and needlessly overly critical negative comments about Iga below.
That's the outcome I expected tbh. Gauff was overpowered and outplayed.
