- Today is just a raw family vlog as i visit my grandparents (Sheila & Stephen Dasovich) with my dad and Alodia. We go through old photos, catch up on some old stories as i walk by the many houses i had painted, and drone around the area flying by the old high school i attended. I have shown my entire filipino family but have not yet vlogged much about my American (irish/croatian) side. This is more of a peek into my pre showbiz life before youtube and traveling to the philippines. Comment below if you ever read these descriptions, i doubt anyone reads my descriptions cuz they keep asking where to buy merch and who was the music producer of the songs in my vlog but oh well! :P Vlog 399

Just finished my hot cup of java for the morning and have taken in the vlog for the morning. I just had to smile as I started to think about what I wanted to write for this...
Expectations... That's a wonderful place to start this morning. How is it a young man of 25 has grasped a basic truth in life that has periodically eluded this older guy for most of his life? Yes, I have a tendency to forget that if expectations exceed reality, disappointment will follow. Yes, I've often looked toward the future with gold medal expectations only to be confronted with the fact that life doesn't always cooperate and somehow I ended up with the "thanks for participating certificate." I wanted the gold medal and the glory that comes with it, but in reality I missed the really important cool stuff that comes along with just taking part in things. How many things do I miss when I focus on one intended outcome rather than doing the the footwork, taking life as it unfolds, and being a part of things? I think I overlook a whole lot because of my own tunnel vision. I only "wanted what I wanted" and solely saw the black and white of things when the dust settled. How sad not to see all the shades and colors of life that are given to us. Finally, I miss out on being grateful for the important things I really have. When I'm not grateful, I lose the ability to share and be positive. Gratitude, keeping my feet moving forward, and sharing what I have keeps me in the moment. When I'm in the moment, I have the opportunity to take in all of life that's happening around me. And that's the gift...
I was thinking about one of my old teachers while watching this vlog. He always talked about the the past and the things which mold us into the people we are today. History is important. We are the sum of the experiences of those who came before us. Wil, your work ethic did not just appear out of the blue. It was handed down from generation to generation and poured into you by Pudra, Mudra, Grand Pudra, Grand Mudra, and your Lola. I recall looking at an old video of yours where your Lola, despite her age, was climbing on the counter to reach up to get things. I also remember seeing your dad get on you about paying your taxes, and your mom cleaning up your condo and polishing the glass globe that covers the light (although, I think that was on one of Haley's videos). Your grandmother also spent hours taking care of you and your sister. All of these things are living memories and they embody your character today. I don't know of how many kids willing to either put up with working on a ship with a bunch of salty sailors with no tolerance for nonsense or walking up and down streets putting themselves out there for rejection. Good on ya'! You have the opportunity to share this with others around you and with future generations. Keep it up and be a strong link in the long, strong Dasovich chain!
Getting back to your grandparents. You can always know about the character of a man by how he treats his grandparents or older relatives. There isn't much more to say about that. Bringing them healthy food and spending time with them... Top notch! You are a good example to my kids and I'm going to show them this. Their Lola's coming to stay again in Abu Dhabi in a couple of months again and they need an example of a guy like you!
Well, it's time to head into the classroom and be a force for good! Keep on keepin' on!

Throwback vlog! How cool! The feeling of nostalgia that you get when you go back to your lola's house and everything looks exactly the same (well, maybe smaller cause the world looked so big when you were tiny)
Sweet reminiscence! ...I love the story and is something you only learn from a loving grandparents.It's good Alodia is there to see some of the early pics. Raw Vlog as it is but it's a good reminder of looking back at the past to move forward to the future. The past is what makes you better today :)

This somewhat makes me a bit sad thinking about my lola before she passed away last year. Nevertheless, I like how you cherished your lolas and your family as a whole.
