That was CFL football at it's finest! Congrates Bombers on a fantastic season and repeating as Champions. To Hamilton, hold your heads high, you did everything you could and probly deserved better and the city of Hamilton put on a fantastic Grey Cup.
As an NFL fan from Pennsylvania where we LOVE our football, I've gotta say - I've seen a handful of CFL games and I have yet to see ONE that was not exciting. These guys are playing for the LOVE of the game and you can see it - and there isn't a single CFL player that is making over a million a year. I had no idea the Grey Cup was this old.
The play that felt like the dagger was taking the knee with 1:50 left in the 4th quarter instead of running it out in clear field. Besides that opinion, Congrats to both teams for having great seasons and ending it with banger of a Grey Cup. Looking forward to the 2022 season.
@@den8863 it could also have been their demise. Say he takes it out, goes to make a cut to avoid a tackle, and fumbles the ball. Coach O even said after, that he gave him the choice to take a knee or take it out. Anything could have happened, even if he ran it 50 yards back, there's no guarantee that Masoli drives the field to get into FG range...
Bomber fan here, maybe I am in the minority, but I think taking the knee was the best call. Hamilton had to kick into the wind, which was brutal so they needed to get to the WPG 35, maybe 30. Plus if he takes it out where will he end up, the 25 at best? 10 or 15 at worst. They got 20 more yards to start the drive, and you cant say they would have executed the exact same plays just from a different starting position. IDK maybe id feel the same way if WPG was in Hamiltons position. Either way great game.
I have watched cfl teams lose by a point...esp my bombers so much over 49 years..it was a pleasent SHOCK to see him take a knee...wow that was a gift imo

Been a tough year for CFL but this game season out on a high note. Great game. Now back to lockdown again. But we got a little release anywhere!!
I'm a Bombers fan, but anyone who is criticising Hamilton for taking a knee in the endzone late in the game needs to understand that they were playing against the wind. Had he taken the ball out, for all we know, he could've been stopped at the 10 or 15 yard line, and would've made it even harder for them to get into field goal range. In hindsight, it's easy to sit here and say they made a terrible decision, after they marched down the field, but at the time with their offence struggling against the wind, I honestly believe it was the correct decision.
@@darrendouglas1824 You only think it's stupid because they were able to march down the field successfully. You're using hindsight, which isn't fair. Hamilton's offence was struggling in the 4th quarter playing against the wind. Had he taken the ball out, he would've been stopped at the 15 or 20, and with the way their offence was performing against the wind, it would've been a lot harder to get into field goal range.
As much as I never want to kick a guy when he's down, taking that knee was the wrong decision. Playing against strong wind amplifies the importance of return yards. Due to the wind, the ball arrived downfield long before the coverage team and with blockers in place he was in an optimal position for a massive return. They were throwing against the wind seconds later. If you don't play to win, than win you won't
@@TheKingOfAmalek I totally agree about the wind factor. I live in Hamilton and can tell you that it's a good thing the game wasn't on Saturday when we had wind gusts of 100 km/hr. But, he had the opportunity for a huge return. There wasn't a Blue Bomber on the screen when he caught the ball. They had a far better chance of earning yards off the return than driving the field. I looked skywards when he took that knee. But all the same, I congratulate you and all Blue Bomber supporters for a well deserved Championship. Well done
Play of the game was Nichols knocking the ball away from Acklin in the end zone with the time running out. If it wasnt for this play there would have been no overtime.
Am I the only who sees the beauty and the teamwork of the interception from Winnipeg at the end of the overtime? This video doesn't give justice to it, but the before last bomber who touched the ball, "land it" to his teammates so he can catch it.
I'm still waiting for some Stampeder fan to point out that it took three Blue Bombers to make ONE interception. My response to that would be that this is called TEAMWORK.
Personally I like more CFL than NFL, I like more the Gray Cup than Super Bowl Canadian football is more dynamic but still tactically minded, and more sport spirit, I like all of that
With the vast majority of the core of this team locked up for next year, there is a very good chance they will at the very least be competing for a 3rd cup. Love it.
18 points off the foot of Castillo! That's MVP worthy when you're responsible for over half the teams score. I'm sure he's happy for the final result, but it's always the flashier positions that normally get the praise. My vote would be Sergio Castillo as MVP, and Jake Thomas as most outstanding Canadian.
@@FootballFanLeanne sadly, Kickers are used to receiving little praise. People expect them to make the kicks, hardly bat an eye when they put 15-20 points on the board, but lose their minds when they miss. Even think about sport highlights. Rarely are kicks put it unless it's a costly miss, or one made from a ungoddly length. They usually just say "Bombers unable to complete the TD drive and instead settled for FG" Thankfully, I've seen Sergio get LOTS of praise online, and twitter, as the fans are letting him know that his efforts and contribution is recognized.
The Hamilton fans couldn't wait to take off after the loss. They didn't even hang around for the presentation. What a bunch of hosers. Loved the overhead shot of the empty stadium.
Totally called that interception, sent my brother a text seconds before it happened and when it did I'm sure my neighborhood heard me. That was probably the smoothest game of hot potato ever. For tabby fans, I feel for you guys in the pain. We went so many years without and we know how much it sucks to lose for so many years
... another thing, I was at the Stamps vs Ticats Grey Cup in Vancouver and Brendan Banks ran a kick for a touch down that looked like the winning play except it was called back on a clipping penalty. He was crying on the bench and didn't go back in on the final plays where they still had a chance. In this 2021 grey cup, the camera focused on him while the Bombers were approaching the end zone in overtime - he had a sulky face and looked like he knew they were going to lose. I don't care how good he is. No crying in football.
Key highlight was CUT. #75 for Hamilton in OT takes a stupid holding call and negated a 25 yard run play. Hamilton backed up and then intercepted. No penalty no end of game, chance for Hamilton to tie the OT.
that was the first CFL game i ever watched and oh boy did i like what i saw. such an exciting game. the big field allows so much maneuverability. the bigger end zone is great. what i didn't see was a bunch of dancing around after a score like monkeys on stage here in the states. no spearing like they do in the college game. just good football. i look forward to the start of the next season. only thing i don't really care for is the sponsors names on the uniforms, but i guess that's what keeps the league afloat
I'm a lifelong CFL fan, and I completely agree about the sponsors' names on uniforms. But this seems to be the way things are going in basically all sports, so I've had to get used to the idea (just like I had to get used to them calling stadiums and arenas after a company that bought naming rights...like, NOBODY should feel proud to attend a game at freakin' Little Caesar's Arena or Tim Horton's Field...that's just stupid). But this commercialist BS is a small detail marring an otherwise incredible league. And actually, I think most American NFL fans would enjoy the CFL if they gave it a chance. The differences are small and easy to get used to, but they add up to the sport being played in entirely novel and exciting ways...plus so many of the college players that American fans have been following for years end up having incredible careers in Canada (or else they end up bombing here as well, just like you, and everyone else, suspected they would...Johnny Manziel anyone?).
Just like last Sunday the Opposing team did not Capitalize on the Game or Interceptions!.. the Best Team WON ! YEAH BLUE AND GOLD !! Can't wait until GREY CUP PARADE FOR OUR CHAMPIONS!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂 THANK YOU SANTA FOR THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT !!
I've been told there won't be an official Grey Cup parade this year, but rather something will be held at the stadium to celebrate the win. Damn C19 :(
Hard to say, took a knee, give a point, stop the clock and start at the 35 yard line. What would have happened if he was taken down at the 20? With the clock going, hard to say.
One of the issues with the lack of offense in the CFL is, teams try to run the ball up the middle too often on 1st down. In 3 down football with a wide field, it's a waste of a down
As an American fan of 🇨🇦🏈 (which I'm not supposed to be but ... Baseball Sux) and having developed a fandom for the "Siamese Kitties" This - 🤕 Hurt! Topped only by the Seahawks' Goal-line Gaufe vs the Patriots.
Giving up a single to turn a 2 point deficit into 3 should be an instant execution from the cfl as a head coach. What a absolutely moronic decision. The only dumber coaching decision I have seen in my life was not giving Marshawn Lynch the ball.
I thought the same thing too. The only 2 reasons I see are: -Get further on the field (start on the 35 instead of a probability of anything below that if the punt was returned) -gets the most out of the time remaining on the clock, returning would of cost a couple seconds.
@@Bomber_Boi I'm not sure why you think that he would only have reached the 15 off the return. The kickoff was extremely wind-aided and beat the coverage team downfield by a huge margin. It was a returner's dream scenario; you couldn't hope for better. Considering how difficult it was to drive the field against the wind, those return yards were critical. I understand that hindsight is 20/20 and I certainly feel for him, but he needed to get as many yards as possible on that return if I'm to offer a fair analysis. Of course it's easy for me to say from my couch
@@jerrysullivan5060 true. They were also trying to save seconds on the clock too. Yes, 10 seconds wouldn't have buried them, but it would have compounded the situation. No guarantees that being at the 20 yard line, with 10 seconds fewer to work with and only down 2 would have generated a field goal winning drive by the ticats either...
Ok I’m American, can someone explain why the players voluntarily kneel in the endzone and give the other team points. Like how the hamilton player did it to make it 4-0 and how the winnepeg punter did it to make it 19-10
They're swapping points for field position. If they run out a punt they might save the point but end up scrimmaging on their own two yard line or something. If they voluntarily give up the point they scrimmage on their own 35 yard line. When the Winnipeg punter gave up a safety touch, it was because the wind was in his face and his punt would probably have left Hamilton within easy range to score. He gained 25 yards by giving up 2 points. Sometimes it's a good idea, sometimes not. You can read these comments to hear people arguing about the rouge Hamilton gave up which put them three points down in the last minute.

that was amazing. the Blue Bombers pulled a rabbit out of a hat... that is the power of self-belief. it doesn't work as strongly, if you don't have a potent fan-base.
Not often that a game comes down to a single point off the kick off, but that is arguably what happened here. I sure hope it was a coaching decision to concede that point, and not one Tim White made on his own.
Winnipeg is legit. I remember when they beat Hamilton in the 107th Grey Cup and it was a good one. Low scoring and good defense. Before that it was the Stampeders stampeding over competition all season long and destroying in the playoffs. They haven’t been the same since that title. Winnipeg has gotten better since then.
As a Tiger-Cat fan, this was a gut wrenching loss...We've lost 4 Grey Cups in 9 years , but this one is the worst to take of all...We just didn't take advantage of the wind when we had it. That single point give up has to be worse than the Taylor Ried illegal block in '14...And now, our head coach is gone and probably some of the front office and a rebuild...22 years and still nothing and probably at least 3 years before we get another shot...We're basically the Minnesota Vikings/Buffalo Bills of the CFL. The Tiger-Cats seem to be designed to break your heart...

For “all intents and purposes”
@@jokojabo Haha yes, I am keenly aware. They still compete in the National Football Conference's North Division.
@Muarice Ederington Windsor is a unique Canadian city. It's small enough to feel safe and at home, less traffic, but yet, a stone's throw away from a major metropolitan area ( Detroit ) so, it's the best of both worlds. Oh ya, without the guns and GOP !
@@mattisregularjoe ** keenly noted typo. Merci.
Was torn here, born in Ontario grew up loving my Ticats, live in Winnipeg love my Bombers, was happy AND sad, both deserved to win Go Bombers! Go Ticats!
As an American who enjoys the CFL. That was a great game and fantastic atmosphere. It's unfortunate that my Ticats lost. I actually got to visit Hamilton for the first time last week and it's a cool city
Oskie wee wee brother 👊
What an unbelievable game!!!!
the wind made all the difference
That was CFL football at it's finest! Congrates Bombers on a fantastic season and repeating as Champions. To Hamilton, hold your heads high, you did everything you could and probly deserved better and the city of Hamilton put on a fantastic Grey Cup.
And the lesson to be learned...never disrespect getting "the rouge" .
That was a terrible call from the coaching staff.
Taking it out could have won Hamilton the cup. They would have been in good field goal range. And the player could have run it out pretty far.
I have watched cfl teams lose by a point...esp my bombers so much over 49 years..it was a pleasent SHOCK to see him take a knee...wow that was a gift imo
what a game and Hamilton made Winnipeg work for that win. Just when so many were thinking it was Hamiltons game and chance to win. Winnipeg came back and took it back. Bombers Defense took a stand!
Don't forget the offense showed up when the needed to
Winnipeg got lucky
Yes that's defense is their strength. Plus they have a coach who they all really love they are a brother hood I didn't feel that with our boys
Wpg deserved to win this game no doubt. Solid team
@@dylanwalker8851 dont think so. I think they're just a proper team and deserved to win even though it was like an away game for them. Hamilton had all the advantages yet didn't do much.
Very good game, CFL is the best.
Back 2 Back Champs baby.

Wow! What a game! In the dying seconds and in the OT! Wow!! That triple touch turn-over at the very end was insane!! Congrats BLUE AND GOLD
As an American I usually put myself to sleep with the NFL or college football. But you lads have an exciting version of the game, and this Grey Cup was outstanding. Congrats to both teams. Cheers, Eh?
Great football! Love to see a close Grey Cup game.

Hell yeah cfl you guys get down! Y’all have made a fan for life. They in a drought rn but I’m still a Hamilton fan
Who got the cup? WE GOT THE CUP!

Shades of 90. Or was it 88?
Great game. Started out on in slow, too many punts CFL fashion, but then finished in great, right down to the wire CFL style.
It sure is great to see the CFL starting to pick up more n more American fans !!
This is why I stopped watching NFL Football several years ago. Great stuff. Greetings from the south shore of Lake Ontario (Rochester).
You mean the No Fun League? 😂
My first Live Grey Cup and man this was the Best Football all around!
That "whaaaat" and "uh-oh!" When Hamilton took a knee with 1 minute and 51 seconds left lmao
What a way to end the 2021 season with one of the greatest Grey Cups in recent history.
I don’t normally watch canadian football, but this is pretty fun to watch
Got my Xmas present the grey cup thanks bomber's
Gotta love the blue, gold and white uniforms!
Congrats to the blue bombers. And what a game one the greatest on only cfl games but one the greatest football games I have ever seen.
Ironic isn’t we get these boring major league invisible games. And the Grey Cup gives a breath of fresh year we needed for 2 years z. A healthy dose of fun and entertainment Canada needed. Been a tough year for CFL but this game season out on a high note. Great game. Now back to lockdown again. But we got a little release anywhere!!
As a Ti-cat fan gg Winnipeg it was a great cup, and was certainly not boring!
That decision to take a knee on that final punt in the end zone probably cost the Ti-cats the game.
Wow what a game that was. Thought the Ty-cats had it there for min. Congratulations Blue Bombers.
Good point, my only question is why doesn't the T get it's own little period
Don’t justify stupidity please.
Well done
congratulations to the riders and ti-cats for their commitment to making the bombers champions
The immaculate interception!
Immaculate Interception 2.0! Michael Gray in the 1988 Grey Cup anyone?
Play of the game was Nichols knocking the ball away from Acklin in the end zone with the time running out. If it wasnt for this play there would have been no overtime.
Dane Evans was the starting quarterback for the Ti-Cats? He played quarterback here for the University of Tulsa.
He just signed an extension to remain the starting QB!
Am I the only who sees the beauty and the teamwork of the interception from Winnipeg at the end of the overtime? This video doesn't give justice to it, but the before last bomber who touched the ball, "land it" to his teammates so he can catch it.
The player that tipped it to his teammate is my son. WINSTON ROSE.#30
@@bridgettewilson5322 Nice! Congrats for the win, it was a good play!
I'm still waiting for some Stampeder fan to point out that it took three Blue Bombers to make ONE interception. My response to that would be that this is called TEAMWORK.

Yep. The Bombers wouldn't have won without Castillo. He should have won the MVP.
I agree whole heartedly on your two players, they were my two picks too.
As in 2019, Money-Medlock saw no praise come his way either.
They usually just say "Bombers unable to complete the TD drive and instead settled for FG"
Thankfully, I've seen Sergio get LOTS of praise online, and twitter, as the fans are letting him know that his efforts and contribution is recognized.
This is good for the CFL! Great game
We went so many years without and we know how much it sucks to lose for so many years
10:59 this is where that meme of the miserable Ticats reactions begins
... another thing, I was at the Stamps vs Ticats Grey Cup in Vancouver and Brendan Banks ran a kick for a touch down that looked like the winning play except it was called back on a clipping penalty.
I watched the game live and it was a great and close game of football! I hope to go to a game sometime in the future
UNBELIEVABLE

I've been told there won't be an official Grey Cup parade this year, but rather something will be held at the stadium to celebrate the win. Damn C19 :(
That knee might be the worst decision in sports history but I'll take it. Go Bombers!!
Yea not many people seemed to have noticed that. I would have thought they would tell him not to.
He was so close to the line anyway.
Hard to say, took a knee, give a point, stop the clock and start at the 35 yard line.
What would have happened if he was taken down at the 20? With the clock going, hard to say.
Winnepeg may still have won, they got a touch down, Hamilton fumbled ball on their turn.
Wow what a day for championships! First Hamilton loses on the last lap in F1 then Hamilton loses in overtime in the grey cup

Yep, and in the post-match interview he said he would do nothing differently
I thought the same thing too. The only 2 reasons I see are:
-Get further on the field (start on the 35 instead of a probability of anything below that if the punt was returned)
-gets the most out of the time remaining on the clock, returning would of cost a couple seconds.
Yeah , that guy had plenty of room to run, coach screwed up there.
Hamilton shouldn’t have conceded that single when they were only down 2 😅
I completely agree
@@brucehanson6427 same
Hindsight is 20/20
No guarantee that they drive the field from the 15 yard line, instead of the 35
@@Bomber_Boi I'm not sure why you think that he would only have reached the 15 off the return.
Hamilton lost this game. They should have passed on that 1st and goal. The punting really hurt them, giving the bombers half the field too many times.
You’re right. Hamilton’s special teams were atrocious.
Great job Zach n the Bombers.

What a great game! Congratulations bombers🙏 class organization all the way. Oskie wee wee💔
How do you punt the ball 9 yards if it isn't partially blocked. Was it absurdly windy for the Grey Cup game?
It was extremely windy. It was difficult to make extra points because field goal attempts were only going 35 yards at times.
Im a Ottawa red black fan i like them losing a lot its so fun
Jk im a bomber fan so happy that they won
That knee had me scratching my head. He caught the ball at the very front edge of the end zone and had alot of room to run.
As a Bomber fan sorry you guys are going thru a rough time. Our team has been there many times but we managed to rebound and you will too 👍
I do feel for you guys... my Bombers were so close at times, but could never quite get past that hurdle until 2 years ago. Hats off to the Cats on an amazing game, they have nothing to be ashamed of.

I like the Canadian game. It's fast, fun offensive plays. Lot's of nice clean open field tackles. NFL is boring compared to this, I'd say.
