  • An update from the last video I uploaded going over the malfunctions i was experiencing using my new Kimber Ultra Carry II. Even after sending it back to Kimber to have the feedramp polished I was still experiencing issues. But decided to clean and lubricate it really good and give it one more chance and these are the results of that outing.

      That is a legal shooting spot thousands of people shoot at this spot every month it's on DNR property everyone who owns guns in my area shoots there, not once have I heard of a ricochet hitting anybody shooting at that spot. It was the first place I was taken to go shooting and I have personally shot probably 20,000 rounds into those rocks and have yet to even hear the whistle of a ricocheting bullet. Plus the fact that the rocks are porous and break on impact from bullets plays a major factor in why this is a legally allowed shooting spot on department of natural resources land. And one of the very few legal shooting spots that is still open in my area. But I appreciate your concern

      Thanks me to. However I am definitely very disappointed that I had to send it back to Kimber to get the feed ramp polished in the first place... I would have thought this being the most expensive gun I've purchased so far that I wouldn't have issues like this, especially considering the $500 1911 that I got 7 years ago. Still to this day hasn't had any malfunctions and that thing was made by American tactical imports. Go figure lol

      Well after I sent mine back to Kimber to have the feed ramp polished. I haven't had any issues anymore as well. I also have talked to probably close to 80 other people who have had the same issues as me and some even worse malfunctions. So I wish I would have gotten a gun as reliable as yours. Feed issues are always mag related. I bet you had some curled tips on a mag or 2 that just didn't agree with that ramp. If they hold the cartridge tight too far out, you get stumps like that where the round noses into the ramp and stops. If they're loose, they lose control of the round too quickly and it can start to flip up too far and jam with a tilted cartridge. Tight ones will break in, loose ones will need bent or tossed, depends on what's out of spec.

    1911 runs wet real wet. They can be dirty but they need oil. My ultra carry 2 in 9mm and 45acp has run 800 rounds before cleaning but oiled after 150 to 200 rounds. Grab that ultra carry this side of white knuckle grip small pistols need that. Showed this to couple dozen shooters and their problems went away.

      Yeah, from what I heard from somebody who has a family member who worked for Kimber, their Yonkers manufacturing facility was shut down in New York and apparently quality control decreased greatly after they announced that the impending closure and my firearm just so happens to be stamped that it was made in that very manufacturing plant. I could see why that would happen too. If you knew you were going to get laid off and your factory was closing down, you probably wouldn't be paying great attention to detail or wouldn't have a large amount of pride in the quality of work you were putting out. At least that's what I have come to learn through someone's speculation. Don't know if that's true, but it does sound like they're newer products haven't been passing. Your shooting a precision weapon that costs with tax and mags over 1,000.00 Not made to shoot wet! Clean, not oily! 500 minimum break in. Wilson combat or kimber mags only, premium ammunition. It's a Kimber. Some men like them tight- you can't be cheap nor sloppy if you want them to fire correctly. And rock chips fly and ricochet!!! IMHO

    • @counterstrike2A

      @jackiemurphey1368 that doesn't negate the fact the handgun was defective and had to be shipped back to Kimber to be repaired and have the feed ramp polished. The only magazines I own are Kimber OEM factory mags and Wilson combat. And when I say wet I mean I clean and lubricate my handgun after every time I take it shooting. And I was well over 1000 rounds before I shipped it back to Kimber.

      Mines definitely running better than before but once you get up to 100 rounds or so it starts having issues again once it starts getting gummed up with gunpowder residue. So I found the only way to keep that from happening is to keep it very lubricated. If i plan on shooting more than 100 rounds in one range trip I definitely bring oil with me and that seems to do the trick. I just make sure to always clean it after every time I take it shooting and bring lubrication with me to the range haven't had a chance to shoot it recently because I just got done recovering from a broken wrist in steel plate surgery. So i found a used Ultra Raptor II at my LGS for $650 ! My dream gun.Not a scratch on it but had some goofy grips on it.Called kimber and they sent me some zebra wood grips for $52 bucks.ordered some WC mags for it right off the bat cuz of the stories i heard.Well come range day i brought the 2 kimber mags 2 sig mags 2 chip mckormick mags that look just like the factory kimbers,1 mag from my girsan ultimate sc and the 2 wilson top of the line black mags.All were 7 rounders except the sigs for my emperor scorpion carry.Three times on all full mags the results were ,Kimber,girson,McCormack every round fed every time.Sig rounds 6&7 failed to feed all three times,and Wilson Combat would not feed on any mag or any shot without bumping the slide into battery.Weird huh?Are Their top of the line 7 rounders not good for kimbers?The cheap metal mags with metal followers worked flawlessly every time!Super accurate smooth shooting weapon.But why doesnt it like wilson mags?

    • @counterstrike2A
      @counterstrike2A  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what kind of mags you're running, whether they're standard 1911 eggs or not, but the camera ultra carry too doesn't work with standard 1911 mags. They use a smaller magwell for the ultra carry 2. So it's considered a compact 1911 and apparently using a standard 1911 magazine can cause internal damage to the hand gun. So you should only be exclusively using compact 1911 magazines for the ultra carry 2. If You were using just standard 1911 magazines, I could see that being the issue as to why those mags weren't working correctly

    Counterstrike - I think mine performed even worse than yours. Sent it back twice, still has issues! My question to you - even with your insight about keeping it well-lubed, do you feel you can trust it to carry? • @counterstrike2A
      @counterstrike2A  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely always on the back of my mind, but I've come to realize it seems to only start having that malfunction after about 100 rounds or so. We're fired through it and the gunpowder residue starts building up on the inside of the feed ramp and chamber. So as long as I always clean it after a day at the range, I feel fairly confident that I won't have any failure to feeds or go into battery. But then again, I also feel confident if that malfunction does occur I can fix it with one quick slap of my palm although at the expensive price point we both paid for what I thought was a high quality premium firearm. We shouldn't even be having this discussion. The thing should be running flawlessly. I put over 6000 rounds through my Glock 17 and never had a single issue with it and that thing was half the price. It's just crazy to me that Kimber keeps consistently putting out products that aren't impeccable

      After they polished the feed ramp and making sure to keep it regularly oiled, I haven't really come across any issues that seemed to solve the problem for me, but I can understand your hesitation at trusting that to your life

      @@counterstrike2A that's good. They did that for me but it refused to go into battery. There was a 1 or 2mm gap at the front and it just went *click* every other round. I also had continued failure to feed. I was horribly disappointed that they didn't replace it for me. Glad it worked out for you. 👍

      I had a budget 1911 full size and that thing never had any issues with it. It was a American tactical import full-size GI 1911, I spoke to somebody on Reddit who worked at the manufacturing plant in Yonkers New York and he said that quality control for the last couple years they were in operation drastically decreased due to the fact they were shutting the place down and laying off all the employees who worked there. It's definitely not an isolated incident. I have spoken to at least 20 other people who have had the same issues. I've also come to learn that compact 1911s tend to have a lot of issues. But glad I finally got everything in working order

      Better than before I sent it to Kimber to get the feed ramp polished but I'm definitely very disappointed with the overall performance considering the $1,000 price. My $450 5" A.T.I. 1911 has never had a malfunction. But this Kimber gave me a real hard time tbh if I could go back in time with the knowledge I have now I would definitely not go with this firearm which is really sad because this was always a gun on my bucket list that I always wanted. It's definitely running better now after learning to keep this thing heavily oiled when shooting that definitely seems to do the trick for me. I haven't had a chance to try yet, but a lot of people are recommended trying different magazines with it such as Wilson, combat compact, 1911 magazines. I just haven't gotten around to purchasing one yet because I actually broke my wrist two months ago and had to have two surgeries, one of which was a steel plate put into my wrist. So I haven't shot it for a couple of months but before breaking my wrist heavily lubricating it before taking it shooting seem to greatly reduce the number of malfunctions but I would still have at least one or two on every outing. So one other thing I heard was any of the kimbers that were produced in the Yonkers New York manufacturing plant seem to have more issues than the other manufacturing plant that produced. Kimber's handguns so that's one thing to look at is if yours is produced in Yonkers then it's more susceptible to having malfunctions. At least that's what somebody told me that had a family member that worked at that Kimber production facility. Apparently they close that production facility down and the last two years they were manufacturing the firearms. They knew the plan was going to close. So apparently the quality of the products they produced went way downhill causing issues such as this one

      I know right that's the same reasoning I had when purchasing it lol. Just make sure you get the compact 1911 magazines because apparently standard 1911 magazines will not work with this 1911 being as it is a compact 1911 just something to look out for

      Only shot about 3 mags out of the kimber magazine and it was locking back prematurely its a shame the magazine that comes with the gun is faulty across the board but man it was a pleasure with wilson combat magazine even the 10 round mag ran flawlessly

    Not encouraging. I almost bought one today for 1200 bucks. One would think for that price range, they would be reliable. I have owned past 1911s and they all jam. 😢
    I have bought a total of 4 glocks now and they are ugly guns, but they dont jam.

      Might I recommend a M9 Beretta that was the most recent handgun I purchased and I am absolutely in love with that thing. The more modernized version is the 92fs I think that has a picatinny rail on the bottom to attach a laser or flashlight

      They also have a 15 round capacity with 9 mm Luger. If you don't live in a state like mine that limits your magazine capacity to 10 rounds Washington State.......

      @counterstrike2A that would be a great idea, but I am looking for an edc. My edcs are glock26, sw shield, xd9, and I almost pull the trigger on a kimber ultra carry. Last month I bought a kimber ss target 2 in 10mm. That is a nice gun for side arm when hunting. Before that my side arm is a glock 20, glock 21, my 357mag revolver. I have more, but those are what I carry. The other handguns are safe princesses. Lol
