  • A review of the Kimber Ultra Carry II a well-made CCW 1911 in a more compact size. This Kimber is american made and has a solid reputation. One of my favorite guns that I got to test in 2017. Overall I am pleased with the Kimber Ultra Carry II in 45 ACP. Thanks for stopping by!

    great review, I am a former deputy sheriff from way back. Retired now and this has been my EDC for the past 6 years. Lots of rounds through mine and it's still a great reliable shooter.

    Great review .
    Quick and straight to the point for a normal guns owner like me .

    great review, I just recently bought my first Kimber and oh boy you can definitely feel the quality that's for sure. Timbers are so tight and finely detailed.

    You made a point!!! I fly fish and in wader. Sometimes without waders in hip deep waters with my glock. A plastic gun for the whole day. Never thought about rust. Only that at the end of the day, I field strip my glock and oil the barrel, slide, and some inner springs.

    7 years post review I finally decided to buy a Kimber, despite all the bad rap I've been hearing lately. I opted for the Rapide Scorpius in .45ACP since I generally carry appendix...Psych!
    Seriously, I bought it for use as a range gun with having it tuned by by local gunsmith in mind. I put 200 rounds through it yesterday expecting more than a few hiccups, but much to my surprise, I only had three malfunctions which I feel could've been self induced since I haven't shot a 1911 for a while, and have been shooting a S&W MP Shield Plus or a H&K vp9sk instead.
    The malfunctions were easily resolved by hitting the slide release.
    Great review as always, see ya next time.

    FWIW, Kimber offers the Ultra CDP II with night sights as standard. It's more expensive, yes, but if you plan to add tritium night sights and ambi safety, the CDP II comes standard with those. It is also a two tone but reversed. The frame is black, the slide is stainless. It also has the "carry melt" treatment to smooth all edges and checkering on the front strap of the grip as well as the backstrap.

    I’ve own this firearm for about a month now. I totally enjoy it! I’ve have done a trigger job on it (not that it needed one), and I’ve have changed the grip on it Hogue green laser grip. This is just a joy to own and shoot! Kimber makes high quality firearms. I also bought the Kimber R7 Mako with optic installed. This is another fantastic firearm!

    Tip: Carry it in condition one. But leave one in the chamber when you change mags. There is no slide release, and by doing it this way. you won't have to fumble over pulling the slide back again.

    I usually have wet hands so I’m glad it’s easy to grab like that. Also for when I’m playin around with it in the bathtub n stuff.

    Do not carry this gun without putting about 400 or 500 rounds through it that's when it really starts to shine as a great carry option mine had about 200 rounds through it before it became 100% reliable

    • @starbattles1
      @starbattles1 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the testimony of a flawed weapon. If it was machined right it would be reliable from day one. Like other reliable guns are.
      Requiring 400-500 shots before it "becomes reliable" is total garbage. You're IQ is so low you don't see that.

    I have that same firearm as a CDP, which gives it all the features you noted as missing from your firearm. My only dislike is the two tone. Better all silver, or all black.

    Oh yeah, do you carry such a nice gun when working on the farm? You can put Magpul grips on it for $20, have a good holster, and don't fall in the creek while clearing out logs.

    I can agree on it being a very nice gun to carry in hot, humid conditions. The aluminum frame helps prevent rust. Keep the slide wiped off. I always change to after market grips and keep the originals in the box. Grips seem to take (and show) the brunt of wear, keep the originals perfect! I like the grips, so I replaced mine with checkered rosewood that is more or less identical to the original. The silver/black/rosewood combination makes a beautiful gun. When I will be exposing my gun to long hours in a humid climate, then the Kimber stays home and one of my plastic single stack 9mm guns goes along for the ride.

      @@180SecondIdeasHay Johnny, been watching your chanel for years and love what you do. Finally made my way down to "the area" from up in Michigan. First time down here in Gatlinburg, is there anything you could ease recommend me and the little lady make time to see as a man familiar with the history and hidden gems that you could recommend. Down here for a week and don't want to waste it on tourist crap.
      Ps. Oddly enough the gun in this vid just hapens to be the back up carry I chose for this trip. Just thought that was kinda funny.

      Thanks I will. If I'm buying .45 rounds at a retail outlet is walmart typically the cheapest source? I haven't bought ammo in years and have never bought .45. I'll buy some online later but I don't want to wait for shipping till I have my first outing.

    If you had to grab it with wet hands.. You'd have a rust issue in the checkering from my own personal experience its a bitch to get rid of rust in those grooves or checkering once it gets there.. I fell asleep with my 1911 in my hand one time & woke up with a rusted hand imprint

    • @jseden
      @jseden 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mainspring housing is plastic. No risk of rust there.

  • @jseden

    Nice and to the point! Im digging mine so far.. was looking for another full size 1911 but found a killer deal on a stainless UC2 that I couldn’t pass up.. 750 with crimson trace grips, tritiums and a leather galco iwb holster. Yes used but still in fantastic condition, just some light holster wear on the rear sight. Figured if i hated it, it would be an easy sell but i think ill be hanging onto it for a while. I agree on the size. Small enough to carry but big enough to not really feel like a “carry gun”

    Just a suggestion. Use Wilson mags. I use mine for a paper weight now. I prefer to carry a sidearm that goes bang when I pull the trigger. Do your research before you purchase this model. Your carry sidearm is not a piece of cool bling. Please consider this. Stay safe, stay alert. Cheers.

    I shot my pistal about 200 rounds, after a year it started to jam, I called the company they wanted 60$ to send it in lots of hassle, they knew they had a problem, still wanted money, took it to a gunsmith he had to work it over to shoot, it's not the Kimber of the past. There are better guns for The money

    LOL this is NOT a gun review. This is an advertisement. How much is Kimber paying you?
    Because ALL the reviews that actualy shoot the gun ALL have the gun jam periodically. Probably why you didn't shoot it.
    I was going to buy one. I wanted to like this gun so bad. Luckily I watched several REAL reviews of them shooting the gun. I'll never buy a kimber after seeing them. I'll be getting a Springfield Armory Ronin instead.
