But, CEOs don't add 300x the value of their average employee, yet they make 300x the wage of their average employee. Peter is a legend, so kind of him to try to teach those ignorant, half drugged out crowd of people about capitalism. Hopefully someone learned something from him
I wish he listened more instead of always trying to steamroll conversations. He employed a typical disruption technique of constantly interrupting as they're talking to disrupt their train of thought and try to direct the conversation where he wanted it to go. It's a common practice by people who want others to think they're smarter than they actually are.
Except.... he's not teaching them, he's deceiving them. It's because of Capitalism and businesses not doing the right thing that forced the governments hand in creating regulations. It came full circle, but he only wants people to focus on the government. Why? Because all he truly cares about is making more money himself. He cares about HIS profits. If he actually cared about the people, he'd pay employees more and take less money himself. If he can make millions himself, then there's no reason he can't pay employees more, which in turn gives them more money to spend on items, which helps the economy, which makes business owners more money, and it cycles around. But the rich of this era make excuses for why they make billions and their employees can barely make ends meet on minimum wage. It's a con job, and it's easy to fall for if you can't see through the deceit.
Lol I guess you missed the part on tax rates impeding business growth…. You must of also missed the part of productivity per unit of labor…. Of course he’s worried about making more money himself. He mentioned that. He employs many people (of whom you do not even know what they’re getting paid). Would you rather have a few people make more? Or pay many more people the wage rate per unit of time that competition allows in a capitalist society? There are plenty of reasons why he can’t pay employees more, he just listed them out in the video? Also, minimum wage does not equal livable wage… minimum wage is exactly what it says… the minimum in which an employer can pay. Typically these are low skilled jobs. You build skill and acquire knowledge that you learned by entering the labor force presumably at minimum wage then you take what you learned and you advance your career. Poverty is not stagnant. It does not consist of the same people. People move in and out of wage brackets all the time. I’m making a hell lot more money now than I made when I was 21… do you see what I’m saying? I don’t want to be rude, but you’re really clueless on economics of a capitalist society.
@@inthemaking9714 Claiming tax rates impede business growth is a bullshit argument and not actually reality. They claim it's true, but it really isn't. If the business itself and the people at the top are making millions/billions, then it's just not reality. The 50s that he loves to talk about as the golden era of Capitalism had MUCH higher tax brackets than today, and that didn't impede any growth. The minimum wage back then was higher than todays minimum wage when you adjust for inflation as well. Minimum wage back when it was introduced WAS a liveable wage. It's only in recent times that it became so low compared to the costs of living that it was no longer a liveable wage. I believe it was around the 80s where minimum wage adjusted for inflation to today was around $14. So.... what happened? It wasn't taxes, because taxes dropped. It can't be regulations because businesses continued to make more and more profit. So, what was it? The simple answer, it was greed. Companies realised they could cheat the system under Capitalism and they could massively increase the costs of their services, without increasing wages, to maximize their profits. They realised they could monopolise their areas of business at the expense of everyone to increase the wealth of those at the top. Regulations keep being added because businesses are NOT doing right by their workers. Businesses have FORCED the governments hand in adding regulations. Back in the day, they didn't need so many regulations because businesses weren't taking advantage of everyone else for their own profit AS BADLY as they are today. It's BECAUSE of Capitalism that life is so expensive compared to wages in this era. Capitalism unchecked leads to greater and greater wealth gaps and more and more people in poverty. Oh, and by the way, there are most definitely areas where the same people stay in poverty and can't get out of it. There are whole communities that have to live like that. There are many reasons as to why it's happened but that was a foolish comment. Sure, there are some that move in and out of poverty, but there are still a lot that stay in poverty and no amount of trying to move up the ladder works for them. Just because YOUR situation isn't like that, doesn't mean it's not like that for others. That is a concept that both you and Peter fail to comprehend.
@johnnysoccer1983. It's very obvious you don't understand basic economics. AND you're spouting typical uninformed socialist propaganda about the "greedy" businessmen. Making an emotional appeal to get other misinformed people to agree with you. YOU are the one who can't see through the deceit of years of basic, basic economic misunderstandings.
I think there's a misunderstanding here, there was a reason why he wanted to be the last person to speak to Peter because he wanted to actually talk business and not have it all on camera where people like some of you individuals are going to ridicule him for doing something all of you are likely to cowardly to do. Also whoever talked about the man's education being wasted, fuck right off because first off that man's education was likely worse off simply because of his zip code which is bullshit. If a person can read, converse, and do basic math the education did their bare minimum of a fucking job. If our education was even half decent all of these "liberals" you're so quick to mock would actually have an understanding of economics, taxes, business, and how the Fed sucks ass. Rather than having to find individuals on the internet like Peter to actually educate them.
Coming from a poor, section 8, food stamp background to running my own practice today and getting to talk and hear speeches from extremely successful people....that most evident thing TRULY IS the disconnect of how rich and poor people think. ....and I'm talking about the way of thinking the rich person had when they were flat broke with nothing, not after their success!! Truly two different planets. LOL
@@EuroGuy85 Because they just wanted to get on their soapbox and tell anyone who would listen how rough their life is and how mean and evil people with money are. They don't give a damn about learning how to become rich or how to change their station. They want someone with money to give them some of that money because it's "unfair" that one has more than the other (i.e. they don't want to work as hard or sacrifice as much as the rich had to). I'm sure a lot of these people work very hard to provide for their families, but a CEO doesn't get to be a CEO by living paycheck to paycheck and complaining about it. They seek out other opportunities. They take risks. They make sacrifices.
What DO they know about Capitalism? The know huge corporations that receive tax cuts offshore their labor to socialist/communist countries to keep their profit margins high. They see "Made in China/Mexico/Vietnam/Taiwan on everything they buy and see it being defended by idiotic dotards that wave little flags and speak highly of Capitalism. They know undocumented laborers are supplying the food they eat. They know the tax cuts that sent our deficit sky-high only got dumped into corporate buy-backs instead of raises and new job creation. They know when bulls rally on Fed rate cuts, their payments and prices are rising soon after because of inflation. I'd say they know plenty about Capitalism.
This country is the problem with this country. It's all going exactly to plan believe it or not... From education to indoctrination, we're right on track.
Probably half the people under 30 were college grads, that was the point. Hey I graduated, I was promised a job and a blue ribbon and a nice salary. They are educated, they wee just brought up in the American atheistic worldview. They can’t produce nor function.
@UNIDENTIFIEDACCOUNT none Yep... And that is the general, and imho pretty much only valid, complaint about Trump's presidency. Before Trump and his "Troll" approach to politics the debate was at least semi-civil. Now it's total degeneracy... Trump triggered a wave of w0ke zombism that will wash away western civilization. Not only the baby is thrown with the bath water but it goes all the way through the batch feed trash disposal drain... We truly get the government we deserve! lol!
I'm in this video, start coming in at around 44:20 - I remember back then I asked the crowd in front of Schiff "Who here is pro-capitalism" and felt confident many people would raise their hands. I was glad they did. A decade later and I'm dismayed to see the tides turning. I wouldn't be so confident asking that crowd the same question now.
I was about 22 when this all went down and trying to figure out what was real and fake from my government education. Could tell you were wrestling with the same thing. Our generation is the only one that can raise our kids and educate the current crop of college kids. It's up to us to speak up
@Blake Its not possible to open a mind fixated on gold and silver. It is this fixation that the capitalist use as an ideology to keep the masses of working people chained and sleeping. If you can be convinced that "It's Miller Time and You Only Go Around Once in Life." than you are much less likely to protest the chains capitalism requires that we wear everyday at the capitalist's workplace.
Oh my, listening to this is mind blowing. This must be my fifth time listening. I’m always impressed with how calm Peter is and how well he can explain basic economic ideas
For real! But I think part of the issue is the discrepancy in education between the speaker and audience. They are not communicating on the same wave length and they dont understand what he says
I'll help you get that 10% back.. wake up tomorrow and create emense value for the people around you (psychologically or monetarily) . Shaazzaaammmmm ;)
there are countless interviews with Peter Schiff where he continues to explain the same concepts he’s trying to bring here. these people dont need Schiff to make them look stupid, they do well enough on their own.
You can never teach those who refuse to learn. Many of these people have a set world view and no amount of argument will get them off their belief. The same is true of many who hold other views. No one is immune to confirmation bias. If you find yourself attacking the person because you don't like what they have to say, stop for a minute and try to at least argue the point and not the person.
@@robertdouth8979 It can actually. That's a stupid piece of literature that is quoted entirely too much by people who have no clue what confirmation bias is. People can change their minds but it's necessary for THEM to change it. If what you say is the truth it will prevail. Never entirely there will always be THAT guy, but for the most part. What you can do is try to close the gaps in understanding. If you think the only reason they think this is because they are stupid, that isn't different from the stance of rain and volcanoes are magic. No, rather you don't understand them. When debating we are colored by our experiences and former knowledge. That doesn't change regardless of your education level. That is why crowd sourcing is powerful. That is why cross discipline science is basically the gold standard. There are subtle nuances about topic like construction even that an architect wouldn't know unless they talked to a builder. Unless you sit down and hash out the entire topic you wouldn't understand completely. If you did they would be on your side. For instance telling someone that the bend in the plumbing is important will elicit many poor responses from folks who don't understand. Telling someone that the bend in the plumbing keeps things from smelling makes them confused not curious. Telling someone that the bend in the plumbing actually keeps water in it because of how it's shaped and gas doesn't pass water well. That is more concise and more easily understood. From that stepping off point you can use that to further explain numerous points like air in pipes and water hammer and much more. Even if they don't sit through he whole thing, helping to deepen the understanding of both you and them is better long term. They will have a slightly deeper understanding next time and you will be better at understanding them. This isn't a situation that if you can't convince them now all hope is lost. Plant the seeds if your tree is healthy it will grow.
This guy is smart. He shows the people that they are wrong but in a way that doesn’t make them look stupid and furthermore he gives them someone else to blame (the government). He is a very good influencer. Definitely would make a successful politician.
Jan Richter yes most successful people tend to be well educated on social matters. Probably the best book to start with is Dale Carnegie’s how to win friend and influence people.
Pirjo indeed, great recommendation Pirjo! I read that book and recommend it to anyone who is interested in human psychology or simply wants to improve their life and become more successful.
It's human nature to be greedy and that's actually why capitalism is the best system we have because it relies on that fact. You can't rely on corporations to be ethical and even act legally. That's where law enforcement and government has to step in to keep them in check - and when the government not only lets them get away with stuff, but actually HELPS them get away with stuff, that's when you need better people in government to stop it. Which is getting harder and harder especially with so many corrupt politicians. But the power is still in the peoples hands believe it or not. Not enough people are demanding or electing honest people to represent them. So in a roundabout way it's the peoples fault. Afterall remember Jefferson said every country has the government it deserves.
Open up your mind = join the mob. Throw away reason and evidence, and just let us put whatever trash we want into your head. Man #1: "Everyone here has contributed to your wealth." Schiff: "Where's the evidence for your claim?" Man #1: "Evidence is for retards. You need to open your mind."

Probably half the people under 30 were college grads, that was the point. Hey I graduated, I was promised a job and a blue ribbon and a nice salary. They are educated, they wee just brought up in the American atheistic worldview. They can’t produce nor function.
If he were to do this today, he'd get assaulted.
Pistol Packing Peter 🔫
@UNIDENTIFIEDACCOUNT none That's the way I see it too. The anger was palpable but everyone was fairly respectful.
We truly get the government we deserve! lol!
No social distancing, though. Very important.
Important for four months. Does anyone get me!?!!!
Which is pathetic
I'm in this video, start coming in at around 44:20 - I remember back then I asked the crowd in front of Schiff "Who here is pro-capitalism" and felt confident many people would raise their hands. I was glad they did. A decade later and I'm dismayed to see the tides turning. I wouldn't be so confident asking that crowd the same question now.
I was about 22 when this all went down and trying to figure out what was real and fake from my government education. Could tell you were wrestling with the same thing. Our generation is the only one that can raise our kids and educate the current crop of college kids. It's up to us to speak up
Peter Schiff vs. every heroin addict in NYC
Lol c’mon. Too harsh (but funny)
Hahaha
I love you
You know they are fucking high when they keep telling him to open his mind
@Blake Its not possible to open a mind fixated on gold and silver. It is this fixation that the capitalist use as an ideology to keep the masses of working people chained and sleeping. If you can be convinced that "It's Miller Time and You Only Go Around Once in Life." than you are much less likely to protest the chains capitalism requires that we wear everyday at the capitalist's workplace.
As a part of the 99% most of the people asking him questions made me cringe................ really badly.
It made me mad that nearly none of them would listen and just wanted to yell and not let him finish explaining himself before they interject 🙄
That’s what happens when you get some introspection.
Really tough to watch honestly. Bunch of people complaining & waiting to talk instead of listening.
Same
Jesus christ what did I listen to, "lets defend this billionaire online, because some day I'll be like him"
Let’s be real for a second. The people at occupy wall street learnt nothing from this. The only ones who learned something are we on TH-cam
Yessir
A lot bigger audience that way too
That's because our minds aren't oppressed like thiers lol
Let's be real for a second. There's no way to tell what all the people at occupy wall street learnt. Unless we've asked them 1 by 1.
Yes yous, the one who are only coming here to have their beliefs validated
Oh my, listening to this is mind blowing. This must be my fifth time listening. I’m always impressed with how calm Peter is and how well he can explain basic economic ideas
many of these people are so emotional and upset over basic economic principles that they seem to not understand
It's like they're mad at him for educatimg them. He's educating them for free, but they want free education lol. He's brave to go in that crowd
marky19 ap Cognitive dissonance hurts....
Monica Eisenberg haha rightt. Just learned about that last week (1st year psychology)
prime example of the left wing brains.
If you Come with facts, they respond with insults.
to be honest this opened my eyes in terms of economics quite a bit.
For real! These people are ignorant
For real! But I think part of the issue is the discrepancy in education between the speaker and audience. They are not communicating on the same wave length and they dont understand what he says
Yes
If you want to learn a little bit about economics and cronyism this is the guy to listen to!
Ist hier in Deutschland/EU im Prinzip das Gleiche. Freut mich dass hier auch ein paar Leute aufgeweckt werden konnten.
Just from hearing some of these people my iq dropped by 10%
Tom Khankin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It hurts so much
I could only handle 20min and feel the same way for sure
I'll help you get that 10% back.. wake up tomorrow and create emense value for the people around you (psychologically or monetarily) . Shaazzaaammmmm ;)
Especially the guy at the beginning of the video. Never seen that kind of stupidity.
Appreciate your generosity with your time and energy Peter.
I bet after this experience mr. Schiff realized he can't fix stupid.
That's the only interview he would be part of. One that make the 99 look dumb and unreasonable.
there are countless interviews with Peter Schiff where he continues to explain the same concepts he’s trying to bring here. these people dont need Schiff to make them look stupid, they do well enough on their own.
Hes only doing it because he lost the bet. 😆😆
Inside joke, only us 1% understand. You'd have had to been there.
"but in a way that doesn’t make them look stupid". Because they do that part so well themselves.
Jan Richter always nice to have someone else to blame :D
Mr. Schiff has more patience than I do, God bless him.
@R B J lol good point
Generations hundreds of years to come will watch this masterpiece
Republicans are criminals
Peter Schiff Emotional Intelligence and Patience deserves applause.
These people need to read some Thomas Sowell.
Amazingly patient.
I lost 100 IQ listening to that first guy 😂
Tailor Müller effects of drugs. Sad.
Sadly my IQ went from 129-140 all the way down to 98 when he started talking.
But once I listened to the 1 percent my Iq went to 300
I got dumb I thought 1 plus 1 is equal to 60000.
Open up your mind = join the mob. Throw away reason and evidence, and just let us put whatever trash we want into your head.
Man #1: "Everyone here has contributed to your wealth."
Schiff: "Where's the evidence for your claim?"
Man #1: "Evidence is for retards. You need to open your mind."
“Do you IDENTIFY as a one-percenter?” That made me lmao 😂
Brett T this video is so sad
Soon as I heard that I went, "uugh, one of those guys."🙀💨
kingdomkrook Exactly, no one can just choose to be filthy rich, even if they “feel” like it. I can’t believe that society has fallen to the point where we are crippling mentally unstable people by coddling them in their identity crises... what happened to the days when we could just tell someone to suck it up and get over themselves?
That dude was such an idiot
Peter Schiff sexually identifies as a 1%er
So much human potential wasted in this crowd. Such a shame.
human potential wasted is wasted every day at least 60% of people suffer from it and dont Improve in live people should improve slowly their whole live but hate and negative thoughts make this difficult and even stop progress help people out by listening and talk what you thing and be more positive than negative
School is a problem for the most part because people dont want to learn after school themselves because aging school made them do it 6 or more hours per day since childhood with many things people aren't interested in
Herd of average Democrat voters
Average IQ of 75 at best!
Proof: You can lead fools to knowledge but you can't make them think.
Mike Peters legit
I like your quote. I’ll be using that.
I am quoting you
Love this quote! Pretty much every conversation here was horribly painful.
Im going to steal your quote hehe
