    -not fussed/bothered [you say it when you would be satisfied with either choice that is offered you]: "Tea or coffee?" "Either - I'm not bothered."
    -fair enough¹ [≈ that's reasonable, even though I'm not sure I agree completely]: "I'm just annoyed with him because he's behaved so badly." "Fair enough."
    -fair enough² [a way of admitting while you may not agree with someone's opinion]: (American)"Personally, I don't like the British, because the British don't like us." (Brit)"Fair enough."
    -suppose so [used to show unwillingness (it's the opposite of enthusiasm) to agree]: "Can I go out tonight?" "Oh, I suppose so."
    -I'm afraid [used to politely say 'I'm sorry']: I'm afraid (that) we can't come this evening.

    Very informative! The only one we don't use in the U.S. is "not fussed." We're a little more direct, we simply say "I don't care." Americans aren't good at making up their minds, either, so we say this a lot. Excellent as always, it just wouldn't be Saturday without a new video from you.

    • @cheetopuffs4535
      @cheetopuffs4535 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In a situation where one might say "Not fussed," I usually put the impetus of the decision more directly on the other person by saying "It's up to you." Otherwise, if I don't want to ask them to choose that directly, I might say "I don't mind" or something along that line or simply say directly "Anything is fine." :D

    US translations/equivalents:
    1. Not fussed/not bothered - No one says this in America, it would be weird if you did. We would say "I don't care"
    2. Fair enough - Same meaning
    3. I suppose so - ALWAYS say "I guess so". "I suppose so" is very formal.
    4. I'm afraid - Same meaning, but it's not very common.
    5. Might as well - Same meaning

    Thanks a million! I've learnt English for quite a long time but my English for daily conversations is rather poor as I only learnt formal language in classroom learning. Last month I went to Mid-Europe and met a lot of Aussies. They also said "fair enough" all the time! For the first time I heard that I found it really interesting and new to me.

      @@Hiziyass sure, but I think Qutaiba wanted to use "fair enough". I can't really think of a similar sentence to use "fair enough". I use the expression to sort of agree with someone (not like "it's absolutely the same that I think", more like "ok, I see why you think that way". So an example would be: "- I know you wanted me to prepare dinner, but I have had a long day and I am very tired""- Fair enough".
