    I wanna express my profound gratitude for the great work you're doing here! I had no time to go to a presencial preparatory course for CELPIP. But luckily I found your channel and I give it five stars! I prepared myself for Celpip ONLY watching your videos and I've just got my results. I nailed it! I scored more than I needed! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
    The hard part in my opinion was the speaking test. I was tired (and hungry!), the time limit is totally insane and there're so many parts to it... I was so stressful at the end of each question and still had to keep the emotions down for the next one. Not easy!
    Despite this, I scored 8 on the speaking part.... not bad!
    The easiest was reading... The time limits are good enough and you have the text to check on while answering the questions. I scored 12 on this one.
    Thank you once more!

    Hello Mark,
    I have been watching your videos about the CELPIP exam with my partner, who is currently applying for his PR. Your videos are incredibly helpful and informative, and I wish there had been something like that when I was doing my immigration papers back in the 90s.
    However, in one of the videos, you made a comment that left me shocked. You said that people should stay where they are instead of coming to Canada, and that they would freeze to death here. At first, I thought I misheard, so I replayed that section. Unfortunately, I hadn’t. You clearly told people, who are likely seeking a better future for themselves and their families, to stay where they are because Canada is too cold.
    I have to ask you, Mark: do you know what it feels like to live in a place where there’s war? Do you understand how it feels to be unemployed, unable to feed your children, or to live in a place where your basic human rights aren’t respected? Many of us come to Canada in search of safety, stability, and the opportunity to give our children an education and a better future.
    As a white, privileged male who has likely had many opportunities, you should reconsider advising people to stay where they are. Let’s not forget that you, too, have immigrant blood running through your veins. The only difference between you and us is that your ancestors arrived here earlier. Your ancestors braved the cold of Canada and survived, just like we will. That’s why you're here today, telling us to stay where we are, which feels ironic.
    What’s more, you’re profiting from your platform on TH-cam by teaching people how to pass the CELPIP exam-the same people whose desire to come to Canada you seem to question. Let me tell you why we want to come to Canada: because it is one of the best countries to live in and raise children. Yes, it’s cold, and yes, it can be difficult at times, but the safety and opportunities this country offers are rare and invaluable.
    I am proud to be a Canadian, and I know that most Canadians welcome immigrants and understand why we come here. When I first arrived, Canadians helped me adjust to this vast, beautiful country, and after 24 years, I proudly call it my home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
    Please continue making your videos because they are helping many people. However, I would kindly suggest being more mindful of the comments you make about why people choose to immigrate. We all need to be thoughtful when given a social media platform, as our words carry weight.
    Thank you
    Anastasia

    The Speaking part for me was challenging. I got 6. Honestly, I was very insecure in that part. I was struggling with Part 3,4( these two is really important using preposition of location, and sometimes is not easy for some students as ESL). Also, part 5 compare is like oh my gosh.. # 8 Unusual Situation is like you said " try to give a lot of details"...😌
    But, with your strategies now, I'm doing better. Acknowledge the situation. Takes short notes (ideas), describe as much as you can...👍Thanks Mark you are becoming our favorite TV program..... 😋😋🤗🤗

    I am really doubtful about both Writing and Speaking of CELPIP. I tried both IELTS and CELPIP but I don't understand what is the exact criteria for evaluating the level! For example, my IELTS writing was 7 and speaking was 8 but I got extremely lower score in CELPIP. I also heard that one of CELPIP takers did appealing for re-evaluationg his writing score and then he could get a higher mark! What the hell....? I do not understand how this could happen at all..

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. I don't know why CELPIP doesn't give more information on the evaluation process. I usually tell people just to take the CELPIP again if they got a bad mark. It probably depends a lot on the person who is marking your test.

  • @estellazhang1950

    Hi Mark, I just got my scores: speaking 6, writing 7, listening 9, reading 11. Last year I also got my CLB( Canadian Language benchmark) scores: speaking 8, Writing 8, reading 9, listening 8. Before CELPIP test, I watched your videos for a couple of times, I really like your way of speaking.
    I am disappointed about my speaking score as I do need level 7 in each component. Honestly, I think speaking is the most challenging part, for one thing, it is subjective and somehow arbitrary. For another thing, the part 8 is really out of mind, the descriptions also are insane as it really hard to organize your thoughts. I checked the online comments, lots of people outside of Canada with advanced English believe speaking in CELPIP is the hardest part. They would rather go for IELTS other than CELPIP.
    However, I have no option as CELPIP is the only test as English language proficiency for Realtor in BC starting end of last year.
    During my test on Feb 2, 2018, I made a mistake by speaking too fast without well structuring my point of views. As a matter of fact, during the thirty seconds preparation time, I was just staring at the screen and waited until the recording started. I just replied spontaneously as I didn’t take any notes.
    It would be highly appreciated if you could give me more advices on speaking test. Tons of thanks in advance.

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Estella! Thanks for the comment! 😃
      You need 7 in each category? Umm, why are you disappointed?? You're ONE POINT away from passing the test! 👏👏👏I can see that your English is good, so you don't need to worry about your English. A lot of people struggle with the speaking part of the CELPIP even if their English is advanced. You're right, part 8 is crazy. Haha. I'm going to make more lessons to practice that question! Each question is different and requires a different strategy. Did you do lots of studying before you took the test? I think if you took it again, you might pass! Here is my advice.
      1. Speak with a relaxed confident tone of voice.
      2. Use Examples in your answers
      3. Match your words with the question's purpose. (For example, in the "compare and persuade" question, use comparison words like, "even though that house is bigger, I think this one will be better for us because..."
      4. Talk for the full period of time.
      Good luck! 😃

      Mad English TV Hi Mark, thank you for your constructive advices. No 1 advice is just for me. I was so nervous that I screwed up with trembling voice and super rapid phases. I just self-studied by borrowing the books from libraries and watching your videos-speaking parts only two weeks before the test.
