Interesting fact about new Kaito: If you have him already on board, you attack with him, ninjitsu another ninja into play, bouncing Kaito. And then at end of combat, after damage, ninjitsu Kaito back into play. Then you get two activations of him in one turn :)

Do you want to wipe their tapped stuff in a tapping & stun counters deck? Do you just play it in a random control deck and hope it works out? I'm so interested to see how it plays!!
While Winter does cause some Jin-Gitaxias problems, he DOES also give people additional draws. So even though you can't hold stuff in your hand, he DOES refill you some. I think that alone will help mitigate the Jin-Gitaxias level of hate. Now, the fact it'll probably build like a Nekusar will bring its OWN level of hate around...
The enduring cycle can also be reset from enchantments to creatures with blink. So if you can repeatably blink enchantments they are effectively indestructible
One thing that is interesting about the enduring enchantment creatures is that if you have a starfield of nyx or any enchantment animating effect, you can sacrifice them constantly since the second ability only cares if it is a creature so it will come back

I think Zimone in commander will work more in the decks that want to sac and recur their lands, so they can stay on 7 or 11 and keep making a new Primo each turn to feed those sac outlets, or just keep a big blocker around.
This new Kaito is also one of the few planeswalkers with no ultimates that still looks like it feels really good, because you might end up bouncing it, so you're really not losing loyalty you've built up. All 3 abilities are good, obviously the emblem is amazing, but after doing it a few times, it's kinda unnecessary, where as tapping a potential threat for multiple turns can be life saving, even has a way to shift through your deck a bit faster if that's what you think you need.

Zimone could be interesting with Esix. Get the Zimone trigger at the end of the turn, then use Esix to turn Primo into a copy something else, with a prime number of +1/+1 counters on it.
Peer Past the Veil could easily slot into Atraxa ramp decks like domain. They can cast it easily and already run a bunch of card types, if nowhere else.
Razorkin Needlehead is going to be a staple in Ojer Axonil decks. Would you like to draw? Take 4 (or more) per card. The new Norin is going to join the old Norin in my Yoshimaru deck!
I was going to ignore this set, but that Kaito, it's like Gideon only not completely useless. It's what ninja's need, some kind of tempo gain as the archetype is focused on self sabotaging your tempo and board presence. Even just living 1 or 2 turns, makes all your ninja's better for the rest of the game.

16:53. Wouldn't it just be a normal ruling regarding Solemnity? Even if you have solemnity on the battlefield, it would not help towards permanents entering with counters on them. Since the card doesn't "gain" counters? Also, you can still remove counters with solemnity on the board. Can't really see the problem here. Reading the card, explains the card.
Did you over look that Kaito is also a 3/4 attacking hexproof creature? Looking forward to trying the card out in my historic ninja deck where I can jitsu him out for 2. Deck can win in a few turns so Bane of Nightmares can keep up the tempo, while old Shizuki takes a turn off of tempo.
The fact valgavoths ward shoves things into exile as part of it, making it harder to deal with and if u you can fight protecting it then after ward its gonna be a game blowout
Winter: Have to do those combo card types. Artifact creatures and lands, Enchantment creatures, The tough one is battle. Probably go with those battles that you can sac... Enchantment land...
In commander, Winter kinda reminds me of Seizan, in that when it hits the board it looks group huggy, but given time will absolutely punish the table. The difference is that Winter has the punishment right there on the commander itself, which makes it better than Seizan, which in turn makes it *worse* than Seizan because it'll eat removal way more often.
Kaito misses the wording "in addition to its other types", because without it is never a planeswalker during your turn, so u will never be able to activate his loyalty abilites. They have to change this before printing it.
I think Winter might be insane in constructed. You're almost always going to trade 1:1 in mana and cards to kill him. If you don't, this card snowballs so hard. The delirium is really just a bonus but definitely strong if you turn it on
23:43 does Tyvar really even need to go into Elves? I feel as though it would be great in any green Aggro deck, as at the worst it’s turning your low CMC beaters into 5/5’s and 6/6’s. I think it’ll be great as a 2 of
Counter argument for the Hauntwoods Shrieker and its supposed weakness compared to other 3 mana cards in Green... Face down Valgavoth. Or graveyard Valgavoth. It does either. It's value is in its support, not its ability to cause damage. It's the setup card that pulls out the knockdown cards. That in itself is well worth the value especially with Valgavoth, Atraxa, Viper, and other massive creatures (especially in green alone). And Green has no problems beefing up their creatures. It can be made a 4/4 or bigger very easily.
With Awaken the Woods and infinite mana, you can have whatever large prime number you want for Zimone. Staff of Titania also provides land tokens. Old Moonfolk also help you set numbers by returning lands to be used again, and the Patron can ramp them back out. I have to agree that Zimone isn't an impressive payoff, and is more just a cool reason to do other things. I seriously don't understand the dislike for ward. It's just weaker hexproof, with some of the higher costs being effectively just hexproof. I can only assume it's because with hexproof you can just ignore the creature when evaluating removal, but for ward it's still something to think about and potentially forget about. If it really bothers them, they should probably play more uncounterable removal or ways to make things uncounterable.
i think the upside of valgavoth compared to atraxa is the flexibility of what decks can play it. any dual color black deck will reanimate it, but late game could still possibly cast it if the game has gone on way too long. Not every atraxa deck can do the same without having fetched their one island or their one forest etc. additionally, you can play it in decks that aren't loaded with different card types, because the only time youll get 5 cards out of atraxa is if you have a wide variety of card types in your deck. Not every deck necessarily has an enchantment, artifact, planeswalker, and especially not battles, so atraxa necessitates including suboptimal cards to get the most value from her ETB. Also, atraxa, while still an amazing creature with a great etb, can still whiff impactful cards, and can be easily removed. Lastly, Valgavoth is much crazier as an early reanimation target over atraxa, since its a faster clock with a persistent ability rather than an ETB. Reanimating an atraxa on turn 1 with dark ritual, discarding to a 1 mana loot/rummage, and reanimating with reanimate will refill your hand, but having a full hand on turn 2 isn't what makes or breaks games. Valgavoth on turn 1 is a better beater, and if they can't remove it instantly you've basically already won.
I could be wrong but with mana echoes, bellringer, and the clown you dont need a mana dork to go infinite since echoes will net a mana each time you activate clown because a new human enters each time as a token balloon and you’ll just get infinite 1/1s with flying and haste
Kaito seems pretty underestimated. That's a lot of text on a very versatile card. The +1/+1 to Ninjas aren't for other ninjas, I think it's meant for multiple copies of himself in the deck...
I actually think Norin is lowkey realy good, as it can essentially be a pseudo Soulherder. Play the typical good ETB creatures and then attack with them, if your opponent blocks them then Norin lets you pick them up and then you can replay them. If your opponent doesn't block then you get in for free damage, something these understatted creatures would normally never be able to do. Yes Soulherder is a free blink where as with Norin you need to repay the mana costs for the creatures, but on the other hand Norin is cheaper and lets you get back multiple creatures at the same time. Since Norin also allows a good outcome for what would normally be considered unfavoured attacks, it also allows for a more aggressive variant of the archetype.
I think Ohran frostfang is a way better as a coastal piracy than toski. Giving all attacking creatures death touch means you’re gonna draw way more cards and not get blocked nearly as much.
I think with the density of entchantment + (other type) delirium wont be as hard ro achieve as it may have been before. I have not really looked at any of the new cards but together with the clock mechanic and all the multi type cards you should be able to get it somewhat quickly I‘m interested in trying the balloon man in a boros convoke type deck as maybe a one of because getting another copy of imodanes recruiter or sanguine legionaire (or whatwver that‘s called)
I think we will be getting more ninjas in this set, and I think the point of giving ninjas +1/+1 is to play a bunch of deathtouch 1/1 creatures that the opponent doesn’t want to block and then ninjutsuing in a massive ninja
Seth very carefully pronounced Valgavoth correctly. I wouldn't worry about its ward abilty--with all the rabbit tokens I have seen lately, many decks can easily sac three nonland permanents and lose nothing.
Seth, the actual monored in standard now, after rotation, is very different. it doesnt use those creatures anymore (the ones that you show when you speak of razorkin needlehead). Sorry for my lousy english

Winter could be a great group hug commander with umori as the companion, to advertise that your not a weel deck. Most group hug commanders draw 1 each turn, so 2 is big. Jund group hug is also lacking in a card draw commander.
I am really surprised he didn't talk about Disturbing Mirth at all. Besides the first one played needing fodder all other ones just draw you two cards and make a 2/2 for 2 mana because you sacrifice the previous enchantment.
I just brewed a standard list off of hauntwoods shrieker. p budget since all the disguise cards from mkm are uncommon p much. anyways, shrieker + pyrotechnic performer + riftburst helion is just an insanely good curve out. it def becomes significantly better when we get elves though so you can disguise things turn 2
The big thing about Tyvar you did not mention is that its ability can be activated with instant speed, so no trample required. Although you are telegraphing it from 15 miles away.
The difference between Jin Gitaxias and Winter being in the command zone , Jin comes essentially out of nowhere and you just have to dump your whole hand. Winter at least in the command zone you know what the deck can do , wants to do and you know your hand size will be reduced. The Winter player has to build up to make it back breaking to the opponents and graveyard removal is already common practice for all the various commander decks that love interacting with the graveyard. Personally I think Winter is fine. People should stop complaining about discard. Albeit the discard focused player if they are leaned heavy into forcing discards they should have a reliable means of killing players during the process. It's a control strat often you as the player discarding have options most of the time and you have to adapt to try and get your best setup before top decking. I'm totally the guy with a tiny bones commander and had 8rack in modern a long while back lol. Have plenty of other not discard themed commander decks I can understand it not being a every game kind of thing but the blind hate on discard is so overdone. Like are we going to whine and ban every counter spell type card because 'aww man you invested Mana into that and didn't get to use it ? Showed intentions in the pod of what you wanted to do with it but it got countered , shoot that is super unfun.' I dislike counter spells but it's all chill ideally counter stuff tht makes sense don't hard focus one player if it isn't warranted like it's all grey area. Personally I think discards totally fine being both in the piloting end and receiving end it's rough sometimes but seems like a fine strat , again they should def have reliable means and effort to actually kill opponents , slowing the game down for shits and giggles just to slow the game down and have no intention of really winning is entirely different. Last thought for this long comment , Tergrid and stuff like that is disgusting , too easy and very unfun me being a fan of discard decks would benefit greatly from Tergrid but I've never put it into any of my commander decks as commander or 99 that is a genuine problem card , too easy , unfun. Winter as mentioned in my first paragraph is entirely different. Also to the topic of public shaming/house bans , heavy land destruction can stay locked up everyone deserves to at least be able to try and play the game and Mana is needed everything else is like odds and wht ifs Mana is needed so hard focusing lands feels gross imo. Spot land removal however should be fair game , too many really strong lands in commander. Anywho peace and love just my opinion.

Definitely building a Winter deck to get me back into commander, card looks too fun to pass up.
I think that Winter might be fun to play around as an opponent. You're gonna fill up my hand, but I have to use the cards on my turn
i think the upside of valgavoth compared to atraxa is the flexibility of what decks can play it. any dual color black deck will reanimate it, but late game could still possibly cast it if the game has gone on way too long.
Winter is a nonbo with bandits talent. Bandits talent level 2 triggers on their upkeep, and level 3 triggers after winter gives them 2 cards
I could be wrong but with mana echoes, bellringer, and the clown you dont need a mana dork to go infinite since echoes will net a mana each time you activate clown because a new human enters each time as a token balloon and you’ll just get infinite 1/1s with flying and haste
Pretty sure Jolly Balloon Man is a reference to [in just-] by EE Cummings!
Kaito seems pretty underestimated. That's a lot of text on a very versatile card. The +1/+1 to Ninjas aren't for other ninjas, I think it's meant for multiple copies of himself in the deck...
Winter’s card draw is fundamentally necessary to keep it from being too hated in Commander. Your opponents get three cards per turn to deal with it
I actually think Norin is lowkey realy good, as it can essentially be a pseudo Soulherder.
Play the typical good ETB creatures and then attack with them, if your opponent blocks them then Norin lets you pick them up and then you can replay them.
If your opponent doesn't block then you get in for free damage, something these understatted creatures would normally never be able to do.
Yes Soulherder is a free blink where as with Norin you need to repay the mana costs for the creatures,
but on the other hand Norin is cheaper and lets you get back multiple creatures at the same time.
Norin was first mentioned in Alpha and later in Time Spiral as a Legendary Creature.
I think with the density of entchantment + (other type) delirium wont be as hard ro achieve as it may have been before. I have not really looked at any of the new cards but together with the clock mechanic and all the multi type cards you should be able to get it somewhat quickly
I‘m interested in trying the balloon man in a boros convoke type deck as maybe a one of because getting another copy of imodanes recruiter or sanguine legionaire (or whatwver that‘s called)
I think we will be getting more ninjas in this set, and I think the point of giving ninjas +1/+1 is to play a bunch of deathtouch 1/1 creatures that the opponent doesn’t want to block and then ninjutsuing in a massive ninja
A goofy thing with hauntwoods shrieker is that you can use it to peek at other players face down cards if you rly need to lol
So just throwing this out there, The Jolly Balloon Man would play really well in a deck with Ratadrabik of Urborg.
I'm excited about the implications of Unwanted Remake in Standard and Pioneer. What are your thoughts on that Seth?
Seth very carefully pronounced Valgavoth correctly. I wouldn't worry about its ward abilty--with all the rabbit tokens I have seen lately, many decks can easily sac three nonland permanents and lose nothing.
With WotC saying Valgavoth's name during the presentation I'd be especially disappointed if he mispronounced it.
Seth, the actual monored in standard now, after rotation, is very different. it doesnt use those creatures anymore (the ones that you show when you speak of razorkin needlehead). Sorry for my lousy english
Split up allows you to play mana dork tribal with a 1 sides boardwipe in pioneer
Split Up looks like Citywide Bust/The Battle of Bywater/Slaughter the Strong being a conditional sweeper that you can build or play around to make it asymmetrical - fkn gas
Kaito in with the commander as Yuriko is insane. 1 new ninja, 2 draw 3 (if built correctly)
Razorkin seems fun in my Ghyrson deck.
Some would even call it a stax piece ;)))
The Jolly Balloon Man= Freaky-Jiki
Winter could be a great group hug commander with umori as the companion, to advertise that your not a weel deck.
Most group hug commanders draw 1 each turn, so 2 is big. Jund group hug is also lacking in a card draw commander.
My Umbris deck is ready! 🎉
I got one too and i don't see anything interesting for it yet. hope to see some useful horrors/nightmares. fear of losing teeth card is useless.
@@antonlutz3596 you'd think... but in blue black of the horror movie set... ninjas so far 🙄
I am really surprised he didn't talk about Disturbing Mirth at all. Besides the first one played needing fodder all other ones just draw you two cards and make a 2/2 for 2 mana because you sacrifice the previous enchantment.
And I thought Bloomburrow had cool art Duskmourn looks amazing.
I'm building Valgavoth as a Black Devotion deck.
Nyx Lotus and Sceptre and all the mana doublers for swamps...
Hauntwood Shrieker can look at opponents' face-down cards, hell yeah.
Valgavoth dies to edict effects such as Liliana so I think it could just be a sideboard card for matchups that you know they can't deal with it
Seth missed two standard Ninjas! The changelings in bloomburrow.
Is it worth running sub-par creatures to get that anthem effect? Probably not.
Peer past the veil seems really cool for WAR Niv
🎈🎈🎈99 Luftballons! 🎈🎈🎈
