    Great advice for newbies. On the subject of people's reactions. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I had our bearded dragon outside in his "playpen". My son came and told me someone was at the front door. I put Butters on my shoulder and went to the front door, when I opened it, the gentleman started to introduce himself "Hi, my name is." His eyes got wide and he said "What the Hel* is that?" I told him a bearded dragon, but, to this day I still laugh when I think about his reaction😂😂😂. Have a great Sunday!

    I was told that fancy Bearded Dragons slow down eating when a year old, however Ranger is 15 months and still demands 12-15 large roaches a day!! He beats on his tank until I feed him every day!!

    The one thing I learned that I wasn’t expecting but I love about my beardy Rathlose is how much personality she has. She loves to watch me play video games and tries to attack my computer screen and she makes it known when she wants to be out of her tank to hangout with me while I play.

    funny story about brumation(didn't know that term till this video, so i called it hibernation), my tortoise is a Russian Box Tortoise, and it's never really fully brumated, but is a lot lazier in the summer. So I joke that cause its Russian that its more active in the winter than the summer. but at least now i wont freak out when my new baby beardie may brumates

    Hi Elle! Just got our first Leopard Gecko last week like I already mentioned. Wanna thank you again for the encouragement from last week. He is doing super great. He is not jumpy when we come in the room anymore and he came to us and let us handle him last night, my daughter was extatic. we didnt push it and kept it to a 10min session. Just one quick question. He was raise for the last six months at the pet shop on crickets only and refuses any kind of worms. good appetite on crickets like 7-8 big one every 2 days. should we keep offering worms once in a while. maybe get some wax worm as a treat.

  • @xandermin
    @xandermin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When getting my ball python, I obv already knew about the bad reputation snakes get, but I was not prepared for some people straight up refusing to enter my house because I've got a pet snake. It can be disheartening seeing how scared & disgusted others are by my snake because in my eyes she's the sweetest most adorable little goober. So that's something to prepare for.
    Also, if you rent, know your local laws & regulations re. pets in lease agreementa so you won't get effed over by a landlord. In many places reptiles legally fall under the "small pets" category, so if your lease agreement states that you can have small pets, your landlord isn't allowed to come at you for keeping reptiles.
    Lastly, before getting any animal it's important to consider their lifespan & whether you're ready to take on the commitment. Many snakes can live well into their 20s, & as animal guardians we should strive to offer our pets a forever home. Of course circumstances change, & there's no shame in re-homing pets you can no longer care for, but understanding the commitment is important. I was 25 when I got my snake, & if all goes well I'll be in my 50s when she passes away.
    Sorry for the long comment lol! I really enjoyed the video 💚

    • @ellesreptiles
      @ellesreptiles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to apologize! Lots of important information in your comment! 🥰 definitely check local laws, pay attention to life spans, and be aware that some people are SUPER scared of reptiles. I completely agree! ♥️

    Things we all need to know when first starting out good one. I diffently have been researching plants because one day would like all my reptiles to be bioactive. My Redfooted tortoise table is bioactive isopods, spring tails, nightcrawlers and meal worms not super worms. Plus some crickets got in and started breeding too.
    Do not use super worms for bioactive bugs had some get lose in Water dragon tank did not know and they multiplied and ate hole in the side of one, luckily I found it fast and was able to heal it up fine but I changed substrate rite way and got them out of enclosure. That is way I will not feed super worms any more.
