    With another day in Trinidad and Tobago ahead of me, I decided to go all-out with a food and attractions tour of Tobago! Let’s head out and explore the island!
    ⚽️BOL: / bol.football
    👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/stores/davids-b...
    By boy Chef Jason Peru and I started at Primitive Arts, a small stand where a woman sells handmade wooden crafts. I could see carved wall hangings of turtles, fish, and jaguars, as well as masks made from calabash shells!
    I saw a mask that almost looked like a pumpkin, as well as necklaces, cowrie shell earrings, bags, postcards, maracas, and shirts. The calabash shells were all really unique. Everything cost me 400 TTD, or about $65 USD.
    From there, we drove through a small, quaint community to the Mystery Tombstone of Plymouth. It’s from 1783 and is known for its baffling inscription, which says the tomb is for a woman named Betty Stiven who “was a mother without knowing it, and a wife without letting her husband know it except by her kind indulgences to him.”
    It’s located just 20 minutes from Plymouth Point. Then, we drove across the island, through the interior, to Fort King George in Scarborough. It sits on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the opposite side of the island.
    The fort was built in the early 1770s as a fortification for the newly appointed capital of Scarborough. It was known as Fort Castries during a French occupation from 1781-1793 and then fell under British Control and renamed Fort King George after King George III.
    It houses the Tobago Museum and a jailhouse. Below us was the beautiful town of Scarborough and beyond it, the ocean! There were lots of mossy colonial buildings, and some barracks.
    The island was very sleepy. We drove to a small tent near the ocean called Wendy’s Taste the Difference. They were selling barbecued pork, blue marlin, stewed pigeon peas, fries, salad, a cheesy garlic potato pie, tamarind sauce, garlic sauce, and barbecue sauce.
    I started with the BBQ pork, which was a meaty pork shoulder. I loved the smokiness and the sweet sauce. Next was the provision salad, which contained green figs, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and breadfruit. It was soft and creamy and so tasty!
    The cheesy garlic potato pie was like au gratin potatoes. It’s the perfect Sunday meal! I also loved the salad, which was fresh and crunchy. We followed that with the blue marlin, which was insane. I’d never had sauces like this on barbecued fish. It was so meaty and moist!
    The stewed pigeon peas with rice and macaroni salad were also amazing. It all went well together and created an amazing food experience! Each plate cost 55 TTD each, or about $8 USD each. It was so good, I couldn’t stop eating it!
    Then, we followed the main highway down to Pigeon Point. What an awesome day in Tobago!

      David was well prepared for this trip. He did his homework. 👏👏👏. Knew quite a lot unlike Peru. Other David would have been a better guide. He is calm and takes his time when explaining something. On a different note, why didn't they get knives to cut the meat? It's disgusting to see Peru using his fingers to break up the meat, licking them and then putting those same fingers back in the food. Very very unsanitary, ugh, yuck, eew. These videos in Tobago are really great. Quite a big change from what he did in Trinidad where it was all curry and food. Why wasn't he taken around Port of Spain in the daytime to see all the historical buildings, the red house, the PM 's office, the president's residence, NAPA the biggest cultural building in PoS. Let him see how people go about their daily lives. To all the people who accuse other people of being racists because Peru gets criticized for all the curried food, just look at the difference between what David did in Tobago and what he did in Trinidad. Don't you all think that they could have arranged more and better things for him in Trinidad. Why didn't they take him to see the pitch lake, the temple by the sea and all the other historical buildings, Naparima hill that helps to block off strong winds? Now if I missed any of these things, I stand corrected but there are so many more interesting things other than food that make Trinidad and Tobago unique. After all, David is into people and culture. Just because he is a foodie doesn't make everything else minor. It all goes hand in hand. David, you are commended on your knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago.👏👏👏. YOU are doing a great job.

      @@Davidsbeenhere keep up the good work. I hope that you did an overview of your trip to Trinidad and Tobago at the end. Nobody can doubt that you had a very successful trip. You should go back and explore all the things that they neglected to show you. Arrange with David to take you around again. David is very calm and knowledgeable and he looks like he would be a better host. And I saw your wife and 2 daughters (one was still a baby) on vacation in one of your previous videos. Take them with you next time to get that clean, fresh island breeze. You did your homework because I was born and lived in Trinidad until 1976 and there were things that I learned through you and this trip. Never been to Tobago so I saw it for the first time. Imagine that eh. Great job and keep up the good work. P.S: I checked out your visits to other countries and they are very enjoyable to watch. Couldn't believe that one in Iran where they put the hot rocks in the milk to boil it. Amazing!!! I just wonder what your stomach feels like at the end of the day.🤔🇹🇹🇨🇦

      @@thatswhatamsaying9750 yeah. In a previous answer to somebody's comment he replied that "he takes property and spouses. It's natural". He also made a comment to someone else that if she wanted to hear David talk, that she should go and watch David's other videos. Does anyone really know what kind of person this so-called chef is? He was in this for himself. Check out the credits in the info below the video and you will see Davidsbeenhere site as well as Peru and his girlfriend's sites are also listed. It wasn't Davidsbeenhere, it was Peru's been there. I bet that Peru will never patronize those vendors after this is all done. The guy made so many simple mistakes throughout the whole thing. Thank God David did his homework and came well prepared.

    I remember when Zimmerman rated Trinidads bake and shark one of the best sandwiches he has ever had. I wonder generally what David thinks about the food in comparison regionally and internationally. It's very rare that there's a country with African and Indian cuisine.. we are only compared to Mauritius.

      @Davidsbeenhere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      it sure is ;)

    • @JudyT868
      @JudyT868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      David surely loved the food. No other country, I believe can compare because they don't season their food like we West Indians do. They put whatever they cook unseasoned in the pot without washing and cleaning it, especially meats and put the salt and pepper on it when they are ready to eat it. So nothing compares. Seasoning, seasoning, seasoning. That's the difference. African and Indian cooking in the Caribbean is all about the seasoning.🇹🇹🇨🇦

      Sheryl Sutherland: I agree with everything you said. I don't understand why Peru keeps licking his fingers and putting them back in the food. (My mother used to tell us not to juta ,(don't know if you ever heard that word) the food by doing what Peru is doing in all of these videos. Can you imagine what he does in his own kitchen? And for someone who calls himself a chef, he should practice better hygiene and manners. It very unsanitary when he does that and David has to share in it. Ugh. I hope Peru is reading these comments. He could learn a thing or two.

      @@sherylsutherland1183 : yeah. It's slang from the French word "adjouter," meaning "to add". So what Peru was doing every time he licked his fingers and put them back in the food, he was adding his saliva to it, hence the word "juta". @David, do you have fast metabolism? You stay trim regardless of what you eat.

    Had Wendy's a couple months ago her food is awesome. But you all need to get to the country and get some roast fish.

    Wendy’s food looked delicious. I have not found the food in Tobago to be too tasty, guess I ate at the wrong places. Next time.

    David did the right thing by having a few trini guides. like Jason and David. NEVER come to trinidad alone and wonder! because You will most likely get robbed from either a thief or a vendor. Which they try to give you a tourist price. Having Jason and David there prevents this. Only david and people on his level can find such good company. If you're a common tourist, be careful. David is 100% safe. My recommendation when visiting our country is to simply make friends with decent people and tag them along especially if you plan on making alot of purchases. Always have a trini by your side. Our country isn't as lovely as you think. Crime rate is very high. BE SAFE PEOPLE AND PLAY IT SAFE!
