Hey Scotty, I was that guy you were talking to in the t.v. room at the T.A. Truck Stop in Tennessee. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you.
Wow. Never thought id see u over here Scott.
Thats really cool random people buy you dinner Scotty. Must be a great feeling man. Very much enjoy watching your videos man, thumbs up for sure.
Looking forward to the next one!.
Those old helicopters used radial engines that one there probably had a 9 cylinder radial in it, can you imagine how loud the inside got with that engine spun up to the max, that one looks to be early to middle 50's
Bet it vibrated like a wet dog.
Stay safe Scotty. Love your videos. Respect
Helicopter. S58. SIKORSKY
The helicopter looks to be a Sikorsky H-34 had a piston engine then they was upgraded to turbine. Saw old radio equipment in the back, that was very interesting to see the inside of it. Thanks for showing!
I thought it looked like a Sikorski.. don't know enough to know the different models but they all have the same look to them
Scotty, you must have come through Maggie Valley. Been through there especially for a visit to the Wheels Through Time. Dale’s son building the bikes now. Thanks for the video. Ride safe Scotty
I remember when I was I kid , my grandmother use to tell me to take my coat , I started listening , she was Wright 🙉🙄
?
Another great video 👍👍👍
The Helicopter is an H19 Chickasaw used by US forces from 1950 to 1969
That helicopter looks like an old Sikorski. That was a good video, Scotty. I enjoyed it. Have a great weekend.
Looking forward to part 2 buddy. I really appreciate and enjoy the effort/time you put into these videos
I’m a trucker putting in my time until my kids are grown, got plans to just go full nomad, I’ve been a nomad one way or another for a decade slept in tents rain sleet and snow.
When I was in the Appalachian and Smokeys this past early October 2023 I rode all around the area. I came through Cherokee just before a parade was to start. People were parked in their chairs along the road and the children were playing waiting for the parade to start. I began waving at everyone seated as if I was the beginning of the parade. Some people waved back, but most just stared in wonderment. lol. Excellent Video.
That helicopter put me back to my days in the navy and the
SH 2 anti submarine squadron I was attatched to
U must be gettin old Mr Taylor!
But we've gotten to live through some of the best years though.
@@scootertrampscotty only 63 but i still ride my harley and watch ur vlogs scotty

Ill be 64 next month
Hi Scotty, I love following your travels. I've just watched this latest video and the helicopter you looked inside appears to be a Westmorland Wessex, manufactured starting around 1959, it was used primarily by the British Royal Navy and as you said, it used a turbine engine. Hope this is of use. 👍
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Enjoyed the look inside the old Sikorsky, I also love abandoned stuff, strange how abandoned houses affect me deeply. Hard to explain. Thanks Scotty! Working changing wheels & tyres as you do, it's in your blood. Kerekes is Hungarian for 'wheelwright' 🙂
I get it about the abandoned places
Great video!! Looks like a great place to stay and fix up your ride!! Oh and Route 66 is an awesome ride, it was my first trip on a bicycle back in 98, end-to-end Santa Monica to Chicago! Freaking awesome!! The mother road, the main street of America!! 2,400 miles through eight states!! If you haven't done it yet you need too!!! 🇺🇸🌎🚴🇺🇸 😎👍
I'm Love'' n these Bro!
Hey Scotty. Set up a monthly donate of $20 for you. Hope it helps a bit. All I can do right now until I win a Lottery. LOL
Wow! I dont think anybodys done that one before NoNo. Ill put it to really good use my friend. Although tight on money (having to do things a little cheaper this year) its been a great winter anyway. Hope yours is as good man 😊
Hey Scotty a good friend of mine flew choppers in Vietnam. He said those big twin rotor choppers had like 7 transmissions. I thought that was cool. Take care bud and stay safe.
That helicopter is in Pigeon forge Tennessee.
Good morning Scotty awesome video man I can't wait to get another bike and hit the road. My gosh I'm so ready see out there brother
Hello!
Thanks for the vid, Scotty! I am going to enjoy this series a lot! Take care! ~ Hardy MAAS
Mr.Scooter I’ve been away from your blog for a while, I left not because it was anything you did, I gave up trying to realize a dream that was inspired by your travels. Life gets in the way. I hope one day we can meet and have a conversation. Happy trails my friend.
Ahh these Gatlinburg car parades. Ain't no joke. Been there got stuck in that. Bike overheated so bad, had to pull off and rent a motel room.
Bro I was an Airborne Infantry Combat Medic in the 101st . Flew Many missions in Chinook's I remember being the guy with a static rod you hold it to the belly of the bird so the guy hooking up the load doesn't get zapped ! A Chinook will tumble you while taking off when your running from it !
Bet it had its share of vibration
Have rode through those smokies many time. Glad you enjoyed the area and look forward to your traveling videos.
I'd slept inside.
My bike inside too.
We enjoyed your company at Frisch's that day Scotty, great conversation and a pleasure meeting you. Hope your doing well.
It was definatly the best deal of the day
Live in a car.it makes a much better home.
Cool video Scotty, TN is beautiful
Great stuff Scotty THANKS!
Great vlog Scottie. Looking forward to the next. Stay safe.
It's cool seeing you recorded while riding. Cherokee is such a beautiful area. I live further east near Raleigh but not as pretty this way
Thanks for another interesting insight in your life, safe travels scotty.
They started with radials then changed to jet.
I know it sucks to have to reload all your old stuff, but I am glad you are taking the time to do it. I like this kind of content a lot. I enjoyed seeing the difference in Cherokee and Gatlinburg. I haven't been up that way in a good while. The woke crybabies probably have a stroke seeing The Wig Wam Inn and The Totem Pole place. I was surprised the 1st time I went through there with my folks back in the early 80's, and can only imagine how often the Cherokee Nation gets told about how RACist they are for getting in on that sweet tourist trap money!.. Can you imagine how BALANCED that drive shaft for the back rotor on that chopper has to be to not shake your teeth out, being that long?? Wow! Thanks for climbing in there and showing that on camera. I would have thought it would be impossible to have a shaft that long spinning that fast, and thought they were all hydraulically operated or something. I look forward to the rest of the parts to this story. Take it real easy, Scotty boy!
Im amazed at that shaft too. A friend who ride in those things told me they shake like an out of tune cast iron Sportster. He said its terrifying.
You and Hobo Shoestring need to get together!!
That chopper is cool. It is most likely a Sikorsky H-34. Used by the US Marines, 1954-1970.
We, USAF R Para Rescue had then in Portland oregon until 1973
Replaced with the UH 1 Huey
Scotty, yes a Radial engine
Good video! Helicopter reminds of a grasshopper
A Great Video,,,,Scotty,,Camping in the Rain and the Crazy weather is hard,,to like ..Glad you are Ridin' along good,,take Care,,Dave,,,🌲🌲👍😎
Good stuff safe travels old timer ✌🏻
I worked on the Sikorsky S 58T turbine powered version in the nineties but this was the radial piston engine version. the new engine was a twin PT6 gas turbine also known as a twin pack. Ours was set up to hold 12 passengers for the New York helicopter shuttle airport service and 34st sightseing flights. Flying in these beasts was a trip
Ill bet!
Hi scotty love the content@@scootertrampscotty
There's no moss on your back, Scotty.
Have a good day.
Great video thanks
Safe travels brother 😅😅
radiator was most likely for hydraulic oil cooling

Im hoping that handsign at 9:49 was accidental Scotty and that you haven't gone the wrong direction spiritually. Loved this vid by the way.
Had to be accidental 😊
Thank you
When I was growing up I went all over that area. I used to go to the flea market by that helicopter several times a year. It’s gotten so much more crowded in the last 20 years.
Excellent video. Im gonna like this series.
Peace be with you Scotty.
down around Cherokee around early July?. I missed ya and its to bad im in a hospital dieing. first year i didn't ride all year. im to weak to handle the bike now. happy trails brother.
Guess ill see u on the other side David. Its a hell of a thing to know its coming.
@scootertrampscotty we all know it's coming. id rather not feel it so much though. haha. party on Garth

Another great video.
Interesting that you like the ev 13 over the ev27, they were like the se 255 for the twin cam over the se 204 in my opinion... ride safe pal
13s really comfortable between 2000 and 4000 RPM. Thats where i live.
Cool video Scotty always enjoyable content that you post.
@@scootertrampscotty Yeah man I hear you, most people over cam their rides.Years ago I had an ev27 in my evo superglide, it transformed it into an absolute beast.Great cam for a lighter bike like that.
Now I have a road king, went with the se255's, wasnt sure if it was the right choice at first, now I a glad I got them, because like yourself my range is mostly 2 to 4 grand (with an occasional squirt ), they get the heavier bagger going great !
Hey Scotty love them smoky mountains and Gatlinburg probably one of my favorite rides
I went and visited Greenville Tennessee some years ago. Lots of history to see and beautiful woods... Cool video
I have an EV13 on my '95.
Like it?
@scootertrampscotty I has got me around for 80,000 plus miles since 1995. It's been to both oceans, Mt Evans (14,200ft), Death Valley -200ft), Florida Keys, Niagra Falls, Washington DC, and many places in between. So, so far, so good. It makes more valve noise than the stock cam, though.
@@bradboustead1682
Did u use the stock cam gear? They come in 4 or 5 different sizes so everyone generally just pressed the old gear onto new cam. To small a gear makes more valve noise but hurts nothing. But maybe u already know all of this
@@scootertrampscotty backlash (slack in the engaged gears) is set by choosing the proper size gear.
All thebest ✌️🏍️☺️
Cool chopper. Thanks for the tour
Woo hoo!
Fun times
Great video. Thanks for sharing Scotty.
Well done Brother.
Scotty that area you left from is some of my favorite riding anywhere I’ve been, especially on the parkway during the week when the traffic isn’t that bad, corny sounding but it’s as close to God as you can get without dying !
Yes! love these type of videos! btw looks very sasquatchy around those parts 🧐🙂👍🏻
Good to see you brother! Much ❤.

Watching from alberta canada 🇨🇦. Love Watching all your content. Can't wait to start riding in spring. Planning on touring canada.
You do not give up on going in to places, your the only one.cool.
Roy said you've got to visit Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley.
Many times
Scotty; good video as always. Been to North Carolina some places you rode. Beautiful over there. Highly suggest, Maggie Valley, Wheels through time museum. Helicopter is a Sikorski. First ones had a radial engine and the helicopters were not the most reliable. My Harley is ready to run. Waiting for warmer weather. God Bless safe ridin rubber down
I live here, he did a video on his old channel.
Wherls Through Time is a fantastic museum to be sure!
Hope to see you in Daytona
I wont be there Dave. Only go to daytona if i happen to be in florida anyway.
🖖😎
That helicopter did use a piston engine. A friend of mine has one it's restored and and they use it for heavy lifting jobs they fly it all over the place. Based out of El Reno Oklahoma airport
Good one Scotty, back to what you do best👍🐒
Well, trying to help our situation is a waste of time because the vast majority of our people wont even look, let alone take any action. We've become unable to defend our country.
Awesome video, Bought your book, its really amazing although Im only 135 pages in. Thanks for what you do and what youve been through.
That copy is 5 completely different stories in one book but with many of the same characters. It will not stay like it starts. Takes place over the course of about 200 years. Go figure that. The whole thing leads to a punchline at the end that brings it all together. Hope it works for u
miss you ! hope to be back for spring.. in the meantime i ride the FRENCH country side, which is really facinating and colorful...and i dont talk about the food..cheers Scotty
The food. Thats funny Chris. U missed a great winter down here.
I will read up on the EV13 cam. Currently run a EV27. Thanks for posting.
The 13s really comfortable between 2000 & 4000 RPM. 27 seems a bit higher. Not a big difference on a little evo though. But i definatly did like ot better.
The 27 is better for FX riders who like to hot rod around. Makes more power at higher RPM. The 13 is for bagger riders and people who are lazy about shifting (like me). I have a 13 on my '95 FLHTC.
@@bradboustead1682
Thats what the book says. But truth is most all of us ride between 2000 & 4000 rpm.
Enjoyed both, 1 & 2, wow, the years and comraderies! If ever out and about that way, friend in 2, love too to meet. Continued best Scotty! Hell's Kitchen nyc.
Do i have your state name, town, and number Airstrip? scottykerekes@yahoo

Then im sure i have it. Probably see u sometime.
Could be a Sikorsky S-58.
I've been through Cherokee and Gatlinburg at the height of tourist season. What a pain in the @ss. I live 10 miles from Ocean City Maryland and would rather ride through there instead.
About helicopter engines.
Look up the MTT 420RR motorcycle if you aren't familiar with it. It uses a 420 hp turbo shaft helicopter engine. I find it fascinating how much power you can get from such a small engine.
Bet its a gas hog
@@scootertrampscotty 8 gallons per hour
@@gregorytubbs3444
Yeah
Love your videos Scotty. Do you have a base to get your registration for your bike
No. Montana motorcycle plates are permanent.
Hey Scott, I’ve been fooling for a while now, really love your style. Are planning to be in Sturgis this year? I’ll be riding from southeast Florida up through the Rockies into Sturgis. Would be awesome to cross paths!!
Im usually there. Camp with us if youd like.
Hey Scotty, I have a 95 Road King I would like to put a hitch on and wire for pulling a trailer. I cant find any wiring kits for this year, or any info on how to do this. I am wondering if its possible to just splice in a 5pin flat connector to the existing wiring on the bike or will that overload the system? All the kits seem to have modules and power connections to avoid overloading the bikes system. If you have any knowledge on this, i would greatly appreciate you sharing with me. You are such an inspiration to so many, and for this I thank you. Have a wonderful and blessed day.
Dont know. Never had a trailer. But i doubt youll oveload anything. Theres no computer on that bike. It doesnt know what u hooked to it.
@@scootertrampscotty Awesome thanks Scotty!!
Hey bro I saw you there when I came in to get my tire I ordered . I will be heading out to travel soon . I'm just curious why would you head north this time of year .
Ah, that was in the spring.
When you go through tn again holler I will take you out to eat.

Oh. No biggie.
I ment to ask I apologize do you use the same oil in all 3 holes or different love you videos man
No! Manual trannys have always taken thicker oil. HD calls for an 75/90wt on all older bikes but says u can put 20/50 in your new bike. Guess u can but i wouldnt. I use 80/140, which they recomend for higher heat but, especially because synthetics are thinner, i use it always.
@@scootertrampscotty awesome thank you very much so 80/140 in tranny and 20/50 in engine and primary
I wonder if you carry a piece ...you know...for the unexpected.
