That's a accident waiting to happen on small streets
I put a new torque converter and the same code came on
Actually 741 is the PCM measuring "SLIPPAGE" beyond the programmed limits.
Which is usually a SEAL problem.
While the accompanying code 1860, will be the "SOLENOID".
But often is an "Intermittent" solenoid problem, which only gives the 741 code. Since as said,.. Is a measure of the given slippage. (approx 4%+)
NIETHER OF WHICH,.. Is a Torque Converter issue.
Though is part of the Direct Lockup drive system. At or above 41mph per programming specifications.
Least that's what I know from my Caddy experiences.
Currently a 2002 STS which I fixed with Lucas Trans Fix : )
2700 miles without this (intermittent the last 2 yrs) code popping up.
(just an experiment, after dropping a half dozen engines and transaxles)
I'm sure it will be back...
And a trouble code that is Far To Common. Though everything is common for Caddies 😂 😢
Best I can tell ya 🤞
TANGLDWEB thank you

This isn't a PERFECT INDICATOR.
But if around 41mph at regular acceleration,.. It should feel like it Hits another gear. Which is the TCC Solenoid locking in. Remember. This IS a 4speed trans with OD.
The reason why these cars can go upwards of 160 😂
And unless you are in a state as mine, (Washington),.. Which requires Emissions testing. Or this is Really Effecting DRIVABILITY.
It's really nothing to worry about.
GOOD LUCK 👍

...oh,.. That'll be $1100.
I accept PAYPAL 😂
Drive sprocket support 8681071 p/n wears out and takes out the TCC seals, very common problem with the 4t80.
Whoa Johnny, you're speaking quantum physics in Swahili!
I got a kia, I'm not proud, sedona.
Po741
It gets crap mpg for what the car is rated (18/24 = 11/15) even though I'm seeing 5th gear ⚙️ and doing 60-65mph cruise control set.
Not worth "fixing"
Can I add some crap to the transmission to help it out?
Transmission honey?
Aside from that, I'm shopping out a replacement vehicle.
hi could you leave me your email address I would have a problem with bmw 120d with error p0741 where it says converter exclusion clutch incorrectly disengaged. this problem is similar to yours but I find it only when I am at a constant speed ... I hear a noise like stac and then if I leave the accelerator the revs go down if I try to accelerate it becomes the same as the old American gearboxes .. could it be the converter? ?
That is what happened to my Cadillac 2004 nobody wants to buy my car because of that
I think buying another car is a better option
What happens when your 4l60e torque converter stays locked
You get 7 neutrals
What would cause a P0741 code on a 2007 Toyota Corolla? Because my car is running fine ... I have been driving it rough revving at high speeds pushing it before the code came on.
Possible internal failure

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla and I had the same problem P0741. The local mechanic wanted $2500 to fix it. Way too much money. I look online and I got directed to a TH-cam video . There’s a video of a nice Asian guy who has the same code and the same car. He shows how to disconnect the wires to the transmission. He has step by step instructions on how to clean the connections with electronic spray cleaner. I went to Home Depot and bought some WD40 Electrical cleaner spray. I watched the video again to make sure on the process. I cleaned the connections and it worked. My check engine light is not on anymore. I saved the money the mechanic wanted to fix it. It’s not hard to do at all. I have had the light on for over a year. I have been driving the car all week and still no check engine light. I hope this helps.
@@Windows121165 I tried this method as well and that connection is such a pain to pull off but i did and nope it didn't help me in my case ...
