ZOSI Security System - How to upgrade your DVR ?

  • Please refer to this video to upgrade your ZOSI DVR security system.
    Befor upgrading your DVR, please check out your DVR model, it's on the label under the DVR.
    ⚡From here to download your DVR Model upgrade file and please make sure you do follow the instructions to upgrade your DVR step by step:
    support.zosite...
    Take DVR model: ZR08FN/08FM for example, please
    Note:
    A. If there is "HW Version" on your DVR label, please use this upgrade file to upgrade your DVR.
    B. If your DVR's label is lost, please go to DVR's Main Menu - Information - System to take a
    photo to us, we will send the correct upgrade file to you.
    The below is the detail steps to upgrade the DVR:
    (1). You needn't open the upgrade file, please directly download the upgrade file and save it to your U-disk.
    (Please save the upgrade file rootfs-3521a in the root directory, not save it under
    any other folders.)
    Note: It is better to use a 16GB or smaller flash drive with a Fat32 format.
    Do not use MICROSOFT EDGE when you do the download, it makes the file to a text file, so the device can't read a text file.
    (2). The file's name should be rootfs-3521a, can not be have any changes,
    if the file's name change to rootfs-3521a(1), the upgrade will be failed.
    (3). ⚡Before starting to upgrade, please unplug the power supply and mouse,
    then plug the U-disk into the DVR's back USB ports, and plug the power supply.⚡
    (4). It can upgrade automatically as long as it has electricity, the upgrade process need
    to last several minutes, please be patient.
    After upgraded, Please plug the mouse and go to the DVR’s main menu - information - System to check the version.
    If the upgrade was failed, we suggest you change another U-disk or USB port to try.
    Please don't worry, if this can't help you, please feel free to contact us.

    *We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*

    I have a zosi dvr(ZR08FN with HW model so used rootfs-3521a as suggested by website(jeremy)) but after trying to upgrade the firmware for the dvr, the dvr is now stuck in the zosi flash screen loop, do you know how to solve this issue? I used a 2gb usb format fat32 as suggested. I have created a ticket for zosi and waiting for response.

      I just bricked mine running an update. Support is not responding. I'm going to need a proper firmware to roll this thing back. What a piece of garbage.

    My Zosi DVR connects to the Ethernet network for a few hours and then disconnects and does not reconnect unless I turn it off and on manually, but it comes back and the same thing happens, do you know why that happens?

      Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.
      Please provide the model of your video recorder and the version of the system.
      If there is another network cable, you can try to change the network cable.
      Please go to the main menu > setup > network and click the option "obtain the ip address automatically" at first and then click "test" to check if it is showing ok below.
      Then, please go to the main menu - setup - basic - date and time to click the option "sync the time" at first and finally click the option "update now" to check if there is a message "successfully" popping up down there.

      1) Please plug the power supply of the recorder and replug it after 5 minutes.
      2) It maybe that the system is unable to start due to insufficient power supply. - Please change another working power supply 12V 2A to connect the system to try or change other sockets .
      3) If there is an internal hard disk in the system, the hard disk has bad sectors may also cause this problem. - Please disassemble the rear cover of the DVR / NVR system and unplug the date wire and power wire of the hard drive to try.

    Hello, I have already done the procedure for my model, which is a ZR08JP. But it remains the same, it remains in "system initialization". I downloaded the link to the most recent update file that zosi ordered, but it remains the same. Can you help me please?

      Please try to unplug all cables from the system and plug them back in after five minutes.
      What is the latest version you downloaded? Did you unplug the mouse during the upgrade process?

      @@ZosiTechnology Hi, the first upgrade I did was to 1.7.4 and it didn't work. Then I upgraded to 1.6.5 and it worked, when I tried to change the language to Portuguese the screen went completely black. Since then I haven't been able to do it anymore and it doesn't go beyond "System Initialization". I don't know what to do anymore.

    I have a ZR08FM. I downloaded the rootfs-3521a update file. My usb flash drive is 14 GB and was formatted with FAT32 prior to downloading the file. The file is in the root directory. I have tried unplugging the mouse, plugging the mouse in, neither works. If I leave the USB in, it just shows "Updating" before going to the boot screen where "ZOSI" is displayed, and after a minute or two, reboots. If I remove the flash drive, it goes to the boot screen, hangs for a minute on the boot screen, then reboots.

    I bought my Zosi ZR08FN in 2019. I installed the rootfs-3521a update today and when it finished, I got the Zosi splash screen and then the TV (connected via HDMI) went dark. I cycled power on the DVR, re-ran the update on all three USB ports and even reformatted the (FAT32) USB and tried again. Then I did the same thing with a new 120mb (FAT32) flash drive. I can see the cameras on my PC and my Android phone, but not on the TV. I tested the HDMI cable with my PC and it checks good. I connected a VGA monitor and that works but it still does not work on HDMI. How can I get the screens back on the HDMI TV???
    UPDATE. The problem is resolved. The DVR has four resolution options in the Basic>System menu. The upgrade defaulted to 1024x768 and was incompatible with my TV, causing it to go dark. I connected a VGA monitor to the DVR and changed it to the highest resolution option, 1920x1080, and now it works. BTW, that is the only option that works with my TV. After the upgrade the screen is much sharper and it seems to have reduced the mouse lag.

      Generally speaking, upgrading the firmware of the system will not affect the HDMI interface of the DVR.

    Hello, recently attempted an update on a ZR08BN. Also getting a bootloop issue. I have tried serveral flash drives from various mfg. all formated to Fat32 and just getting a bootloop. I put in a support ticket 8 hours ago now and have not heard back as of yet. Was preparing to purchase a second one to setup in in-laws house but really starting to regtet my first purchase. Please fix this!

      Please switch another working 12V power supply to connect the DVR / NVR system to try. And please disassemble the rear cover of the DVR/NVR to re-connect the hard drive.

      The following are some specific operations and attention details during the upgrade process.
      1 Download the upgrade file on the computer.
      2 Copy the file into the 2.0 U-disk formatted in FAT32
      3 Plug the 2.0 U-disk into the system, and reboot the system.
      4 The upgrade process runs itself automatically.
      Note: The mouse and U disk cannot be used at the same time.
      Insert the USB flash drive first, then the HDMI or VGA cable, and finally the power supply of the box.
      The upgrade takes a while. Only after the upgrade is successful, unplug the USB flash drive and insert the mouse.
      The upgraded password needs to be reset.

    I have a Zosi ZRO8AN dvr and downloaded the update it calls for. Copied it onto my usb and plugged it in my dvr. Booted the DVR up and it said *Upgrading* so far so good but it never reboots like the video says it should. What went wrong?

      @@ZosiTechnology yes do you have any older files I can get cause that's not working and I tried multiple u disks and different USB ports and apparently one of them is not working any more cause the upgrade does not start. This is just faulty work.

    Mine reboots constantly now. I added a fan and it would work for longer periods. That worked for a while now it's unusable. This processor gets very hot. Has no fan. I think the Motherboard is fried.

    Greetings:
    I don't feel like I should have to watch every youtube video about a particular item before I purchase it or do an upgrade, etc. But apparantly it's coming to that. I just did an upgrade (rootfs-3520dv400) to my ZOSI ZR08BM DVR. Now I am experiencing the same problem everyone else in this thread is experiencing. I purchased this unit from Amazon (Order #114-5148388-1183421).
    Can you please help me get my unit back to working order. Everything was working great until I upgraded.

      Toss it in the trash. They won't help you now. Same thing happen to me after running the update they provided.

    After hitting upgrade on my security system it just shows the zosi screen and keeps looping

      @@ZosiTechnology I'm unable to access the main menu cause the dvr keeps restarting. It shows the Zosi name for 10 seconds then turns off before staring again.
